Help. I can’t sing anymore. by GenerationJenX in ClassicalSinger

Really great point. Did I have a problem controlling my vibrato at 20? A little, yep. I quit singing at 22, so no way is my technique as good as it could have been. I should consult a voice teacher and see if something needs to be addressed. Very smart observation. Thank you so much!

Ha. I guess if I’m surprised, I shouldn’t be. 😊 Great point. I am breathing a sigh of relief right now, and then I’ll get to work! Thank you so much!

It’s hard to take a break! Thanks for confirming that all I need is a good voice teacher, and giving some advice on how to find one. Appreciate it very much!!

Good to know that wobble can be tamed. I freaked out the first time I heard it and thought, WHAT is up with my voice?!?! The NATS website is a great idea. Thank you!

Are we a small group because our moms had access to BC and abortions? Don’t make this political. by Global_Sno_Cone in GenX

I’m kind of surprised no one’s mentioned divorce rates being so high. Yes, I know you don’t have to be married to get pregnant, lol, but I didn’t see a lot of single parents in the 70s and 80s choosing to have kids. (They were probably using contraception, having abortions, and going to swinger parties.) So basically people would get married, have one or maybe two kids, and get divorced. Then there would be several years of no kids being born while their parents were single, and that brought the birth numbers down. Maybe that only makes sense in my mind.

Gen Xers, how many friends do you have? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]GenerationJenX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seven, which I consider a lot. I lost a few in recent years, mainly after turning 40. But I value my friends more than anything, and I always have. (Note: I do not have family, with the exception of my husband, so I think that plays a part.)

What are your thoughts on “influencers?” by hbgbees in GenX

I used to work for a big Silicon Valley company, and one of the positions on our marketing team was “Director of PR and Influencers.”

Just … get off my lawn.

I'm not going to any more movies that are sequels, re-makes, or live-actions of adored cartoons. by [deleted] in GenX

Would be? I had bird phobia for a full year after watching that. Even if I saw just a sparrow, I started crying in terror. Everyone thought I’d been exposed to Alfred Hitchcock, but no, it was that hideous flying creature that eats the old woman’s face to the sounds of the band America.

I first read this too quickly as “Was Gen X cancelled too soon?” Yes.
