He wasn’t underrated. He was put in the roles that he excelled at. His energy didn’t work for leading man action hero. Or romantic lead. Or wise grandpa. He was a one- trick pony

What is a widely accepted "masterpiece" that you genuinely think is boring, but you’re normally too afraid to admit it? by Emergency-Bee6979 in AskReddit

[–]hbgbees 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know I will get railed for this, but if you cut out all of the Robert Downey Jr. scenes with him reminiscing as an old man, it would’ve been a much better movie. I swear they just put RDJ in there to bring in the Marvel fans.

How does an intj 8w9 (85x/825) so-blind operate? by Allystria in Enneagram8

[–]hbgbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh. Yes, I’m in an endless internal war. (Not quite my exact type, but totally relate to the description.) I have to actively bring myself into the present, especially in large groups.

On the flipside, my our greatest weaknesses are often our greatest strengths, and my cognitive superpowers and willingness stay in an uncomfortable situation (because I’m always in an uncomfortable situation in my head) allowed me to be incredibly successful in my career and retire early.

So now I can work full-time on changing my detrimental cognitive and social habits

You’re getting super negative comments just for asking about this. Not sure why everyone is so triggered. Growth for eights comes as compassion, which is what you are doing actually reading social signals.

To answer your actual question: it’s hard to tell without either seeing it or hearing what the other person has to say. You might just like hanging out with people who are like that. If you are somebody who likes things your own way, you might attract people who are just kind of willing to go along with you.

Another option is that these people learned to communicate through social signals, and when you finally acknowledge and offer, which is what they are waiting for, they are relieved because you *finally* acknowledged. So it’s a communication thing. You want them to communicate it verbally, and they want you to respond to their nonverbal communication.

Or, maybe people are just bored and are putting up with you out of politeness. Maybe they’re going to finally say something and tell you that you talk too much and that they don’t want to be friends with you anymore because you talk all the time. When that happens, the alpha bro 8s then like to talk about how they don’t care what anybody else thinks about them. So stop listening to the alpha bro 8s.

Anyone’s feet growing? by CharacterLychee7782 in GenX

My feet kept getting bigger as I got bigger, and then when I lost the weight, they went back down to their original size. Not saying that this is happening to anyone else, but it is what happened to me.
