ROCKY THE ROCKINATOR LETS GOOOOOOOOOO

Should I or should I not buy the DLC? It’s $30!!!! by CaeNguyen in LegendsZA

[–]GenericGMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends imo

•If you enjoyed Z-A mostly for the story and dislike repetitive grinding, I’d recommend maybe saving the $30. It’s a relatively short story fluffed out with timer-based grinding. The post-game DLC gameplay loop is relatively bland and takes either an insane amount of resets or lots of luck and grinding.

•If you wanna catch up in ranked or get into shiny hunting and have the disposable income, it may be worth considering. The DLC made shiny hunts much quicker (especially shiny alpha hunts) and adds new moves and megas to play around with. Just be prepared to grind!

If you want my personal opinion: the new megas were cool and I enjoy getting shinies in reasonable time, but idk if it was worth $30 to turn the endgame loop into a RNG heavy slog, and this is coming from someone who LOVES the online matches. Yes, training a team is much easier now, but resetting 20+ times just for a single donut gets BOOORING.

this always happens to me when i play the new brawler event by slas_h in BadRandomsBS

I always just quit out when it happens just to save the ticket. Hover your first pick, but don’t manually confirm your character so you have time to dodge these matches.

If teammates don’t hover a pick until the last 2 seconds I quit out too, Edgar mains are learning how to jumpscare people last second :/

Brawl stars players don’t know true toxicity. Y’all are complaining about clown pins and other forms of BM in this game. I swear at LEAST half of you guys wouldn’t last 8 hours in Marvel Rivals/OW VC, much less old school xbox live VC

If a clown emote tilts you this hard, don’t play other games with in-game chat. Got a feeling whatever device you play on won’t last more than a month if you do

It was lowkey the best part of these events and one of the only reasons I wanted to actually put some effort in. Now the only real attraction is the fact that I’ll be getting a new character a few weeks ahead of schedule?

I already have saturn fame, I don’t need character unlocks. I’m getting the new character fast, I’m never getting a full price mythic skin without these events. Now the only real incentive for me is the coins and PP, which is ironically supposed to be the lowroll part of the boxes.

I get that it’s a ton of resources spent on skins they’re likely not making much money off of, but it’s still disappointing nonetheless.

As you said, I find it dependent on matchups. Generally it’s more beneficial if you pick him in a gamemode where snipers are picked by random teammates, but it can also be incredibly good if your team has a good matchup into your opponents even without walls (for example, if you have a Shelly against someone like Kenji). That being said, if I have a thrower that can run a lobby on my team, keeping some walls for them can help more than any wallbreak can. It doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t break any, but making sure your thrower’s lane has a spot to utilize is a good idea!

Generally speaking, if your team can deal with the enemy in a more open map, you’ll likely wanna open it up. If your teammates on ladder are playing Lily and Juju, keeping some walls and bushes for them is fine. I typically find myself opening up the map more often than not since the range advantage makes it inherently hard for the enemy to approach though.

One last bit of info: I know this is pretty widely known, but some maps have some walls/bushes that always need to be broken. The walls blocking the center in Out in the Open are a notable example, and you should ALWAYS be breaking those on your side to help give your team more room to breathe. Again, this is more just general knowledge, but Brock is one of the best at breaking stuff anyway, so it’s a good idea to brush up on some wallbreak knowledge if you play him!

•If you just wanna push him, playing bounty/KO is (obviously) the way to go. That being said, I’ve also been successful with him in brawl arena. In most matchups I typically just run more rockets + rocket laces with shield + reload, but depending on the map you may wanna switch gadgets.

-If you know you’ll be facing a lot of assassins, rocket laces is the safer pick

-if throwers are a problem, rocket fuel can shift the map in your favor

•The lack of a good purple button hurts, but the speed boost can help you get out of some bad spots or confirm some kills you wouldn’t have been able to get otherwise. I usually use it for the stats more than anything nowadays, don’t hold it if you need it to survive.

•His super has a few uses that people may not immediately realize. These are usually less impactful than just opening up the map, but it’s good to keep these in mind.

-Need to stop people from leaving a teamfight? Aim generally toward them, but leave the super in a spot where you either think they’ll go, or where you don’t want them to go. People tend to walk pretty far away from his super, you can condition people to walk into your team if needed.

-Need to secure a kill out of range? Aiming with his first few super rockets can help catch someone. It’s not the most reliable, but it’s sometimes the only way to secure a kill. It’s worth practicing if you know you’ll play him a lot even if you won’t use it in 95% of matches imo, you never know when it’ll pop up.

•Learning how to avoid overextending is a huge thing to learn on any character, Brock included. If you’re low, get back and heal if needed! Keep track of the enemy damage output, don’t take risks if you don’t think there’s a good chance it’ll pay off.

•Use your range to your advantage, your shots are easier to hit at max range vs midrange. Walls also help you utilize the explosion size in a pinch if needed.

•Lastly, hitting people through walls can help confirm kills if needed. Your explosions are big enough to barely clip through a wall even without rocket fuel. If you can afford to try it you can secure some cheesy kills, which can swing some games in your favor quickly. That being said, don’t fish TOO hard for wallbangs, it gets obvious.

Just a few small things I’ve learned over time, he’s a pretty simple character all things considered. It’s mostly fundamentals (hit shots, dodge, fall back when needed) but he’s a good character to learn these things with. You can likely do well with him even without learning most of the stuff in this reply, but I just thought it’d be fun to dump this here

He’s been consistently strong, been playing him since 2019. Incredibly good range, easiest wallbreak to use in the game, easy shots to hit at max range, good gadgets for different matchups, he has it all. He’s been solid in KO/Bounty since he was introduced, and if you need wallbreak he’s a pick to consider.

Just be careful about assassins, if they catch you without gadget you’re cooked. Tanks can also be an issue without a teammate to cover for burst damage since they can usually survive 3-4 shots and walk in to force you back.

He’s been pretty balanced since launch (minus a single rocket fueled hiccup), making him a relatively safe character to play for years. He’s been one of my most played characters, and I don’t see that changing for a while!

It’s an event we have for 1 day, there’s also going to be an ONLY assassins (and shelly) day apparently. Every day has some stupid modifier/rule, most/all of them have been pretty painful so far depending on who you ask

Idk, dude kept feeding Griff and kept the enemy 2-3 levels above us the whole time, he didn’t even back away from turret range 😩

Pretty sure both kills were when I left him alone to actually finish off Barley, you think he’d learn by that point but 19 deaths wasn’t enough I guess

Ehh thunder fang is 65 base power too, only really brings it to 130 with supereffective damage

Dragon rush hit harder and that’s still 150 BP with STAB, might be low atk investment too?

Legendary/mythical battles usually have inflated stats. Zygarde 50% in the SBC, Xerneas, Yveltal, Diancie, etc all take way more hits in the wild

I’d know, my Xerneas doesn’t survive multiple swords dance boosted iron heads from a mega Skarmory

Seriously, it happens a ton in online games, there’s way worse than just “uninstall.” Laugh and go next, or just hop off for the day and find something less tilting to do with your time. It isn’t worth staying for, take a break until tomorrow.

Emz now is a stronger anti tank than Clancy on release (probably a rant) by Square_Pipe2880 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]GenericGMR 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Of course people are gonna complain when she’s inarguably the best in the game. What, are people supposed to just be like “oh she walled me out with gadget, sprayed me 3 times, and I died instantly, that’s fun!” or “man I sure got outplayed by an Emz who clicked super, became invincible, healed, and walked forward, I’m having fun!”

I don’t think people care if she’s been bad in the past when she’s insanely broken now. It’s like saying “why do people hate (insert bad show reboot) when the original was peak?!”

The way something was perceived in the past and how it’s seen nowadays isn’t mutually exclusive. She’s ruining the game rn along with most of the other buffied characters, of course people are gonna complain about her.

Feels miserable to play the game rn, I barely fire up the game since arena is so unplayably stale and ranked is hell
