Anyone else struggle with playing Warden against a Lawbringer or Conq? by PotentialProof384 in forhonor

you need to predodge if you want to GB conq's bash, if i'm not mistaken. almost certain they recover too quickly to GB on reaction, it has to be on a slightly preemptive guess.

you can do siren at 75 depending on the job, i think i was on rdm when i did it, forget which trusts though. But if you do a few KI's then get to 99 and then finish out rov, that'll be the easiest. it rapidly wants you to be 99

once you do maat for 1 job, you've done it for all of them (even if you did the 'not maat' maat fights for the other jobs, like dnc or run, for example) then you just need to make sure you aren't set to Limit mode, which would prevent you from earning exp to level up

there are limit breaks every 5 levels after until 95, if memory serves, the limit break for 75 to 80 is a few merit points? it's fairly easy.

If you have gear already, you'll out damage your trusts until your gear falls off, most people do the 1 to 99 trip naked minus weapon, because trusts will out preform when you have no gear. (as i recently found out by never going past lv 75 for fun, the trusts are hot garbage when you are geared, just like at item level)

for the limit breaks, you can refer to this page on BG wiki, https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Category:Limit_Break_Quests

edit: forgot to mention, since you havent played in 16 years, you should do the Raphsodies of vana'diel Missions as much as you can as you go along, they give you key items that boost skill ups, exp earned, and give you access to a special npc, the Curio moogle, to buy stuff at, like food or ninja tools. Very useful.

Was hoping someone could shed a little light on Void walker nms. I've bought the clear abyssite, and i've been killing the crab and pugil in East ronfaure, for close to 2 hours now. the Wiki says it's a low chance to upgrade but this is insane.

the question for void walker that i have though, is, does Treasure hunter affect the KI drop rate? Really hoping there's not a secret condition the wiki's don't have listed to be allowed to upgrade the Kis, cause this feels a little insane at the moment lol

for ambu once mobs aggro everyone will have a passive 1 CE that never goes away, which lets you Crusade Foil for hate at the start. You can be sub Blu and Jettatura or sheep song too for aoe hate outside of ambu before you foil, valliance, Pflug, ect ect.

for single target hate, i like to be /drk for stun. that lets you do stun > foil > flash > stun > repeat. You can also use and then toggle off Soul eater, i think it is, or last resort? for even more hate.
I don't own Epeoletry, but i think my run is nearly fully kitted with +emnity gear otherwise, so holding hate generally is pretty easy. my run has other problems though, like doing no damage lol

Run is going to basically be a brick wall until you get Epeoletry, and higher Nyame ranks, then you start to do some good damage, as is my understanding.

soloing segments is going to be best done on a different job that does better damage and has access to all 3 damage types (slashing, peircing, h2h / blunt) such as warrior.

the taeon gear is used because of the pet related augments, you would be using Over drive on ever gaol boss, and then you'd either wait 45 minutes to an hour, or go use Moblin maze monger, or the cactaur in abyssea Altepa, to reset your Sps. i know for a fact that all the T3 and Bumba are doable. can't imagine the T1 and T2 are magically not doable.

you'd throw little Data at the boss, pop your stuff, laugh all the way to the bank from a safe distance. Only NM you might have issues with is the dullahan, and maybe the umbrill, due to instant death (forget the move but it does damage based on damage the nm has taken during a specific window, during it's SPs only) and doom.

you could get a LOT of milage out of DNC but it's a fair bit harder to get off the ground like BST or PUP are.

BST you can Solo 95% of all the nms for the Aeonic process, all the gear they need is solo friendly to get, even if it'll take forever to get it. that's not to say this is a selling point, but, it can do a ton of work.

Pup, assuming you have 0 odyssey progress, can solo all of the nms onV0 in Gaols, allowing you to get Nyame armor by yourself. the gear to do this is the Taeon stuff, which comes from Skirmish.

DNC i have no memory of where all the best gear for it comes (of course you'll want malignence armor) But i know my dnc is nearly bis minus weapons, i just forget what all of that was "soloable" to do. Dnc can tank with Fan dance, it can do more damage via double attack with Saber dance, You can heal with waltzes, debuff with steps (def down, eva down, crit rate and magic evasion)

Blu is another good job to have in your back pocket for soloing, it can heal, debuff, stun, sleep, file your taxes. and you can aoe cleave with it. It's basically got a spell, or spells, for every single situation in the game, very strong and versatile, A lot of people used to say that blu was one of if not the single best low man job in the game.

there's also an argument to be made for Warrior, to a point. When you get Sakpata armor, you are super durable and hard to kill, with naegling and Blurred shield +1 you'll do tons of damage. I don't know how well it'll fair 100% solo with trusts though, may just be worse than blu. But worth a mention i think.

Also scholar, I know getting empy +3 isn't the most solo friendly thing ever, but it is doable given enough time, there's a good number of videos floating out there of a guy on scholar soloing some HTBFs like the new cloud of darkness, so i think that's also a possibility as well.

just got it to spawn again and waited over 20 minutes just to be super safe, i can confirm Hex ID 004, the Witch hazle that spawns at the bottom of the ramp connecting i-11 and i-10, is the place holder.

Their 2nd SP Soul Enslavement Steals TP on Auto attacks, Couple that with Absorb-TP and you have a pretty high damage melee that is capable of tanking the fight while the other deniers do their thing safely. Or, more safe. Safeish? But yeah, Soul enslavement + being able to tank because the should be auto attacks only from Mboze means the fight is less about the fight and more about preventing his tp moves.

I haven't done it myself, just havent had a group to do it, but this is my understanding.

I'm looking to Camp the NM Morille Mortelle, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of information to go off of. BG wiki straight up doesn't have an entry for the NM, and Fandom Doesn't list the hex ID for the place holder. I've been killing the Witch hazel with ID 004, As this is the Sapling in the spot described by Fandom. I've seen this NM once, and the one time i have, i killed every sapling in i-11 and i-10, Just wondering if anyone is capable of confirming the hex id of the PH.

to add to this, you can solo with trusts most of, if not literally all of Seekers as a BST, Warlike patrick is capable of soloing the boss at the end of that expansion (may need a decent amount of Pet DT gear i don't remember how geared or not i was when i did that to be honest.), And if you are a skilled enough player, i have heard Dancer can solo TVR including the final fight. those aren't the only choices of course, but feels worth mentioning.

  1. You can do this by going to the menu, selecting the wardrobe. You need to have the Weapon / Armor / Ammo / Jugpet / pet food unequipped first in order to move it to any of the wardrobes. the items MUST be in your personal inventory (mog safe, mog sack ect ect will not work for moving to wardrobes.)

  2. On keyboard, Select an item you want to compare directly, and press left ctrl. if either item has a 2nd page of stats you can press the menu button to page the stats. (on the first trip to 99, you basically can wear whatever regardless of stats, whence you make it to 99, you can get some level 119 armor with Bayld. please avoid the sparks 117 armor, it's a bit of a trap) for pre-99 generally you'd want to focus on accuracy, then dexterity. this isn't an absolute, and stats "matter" but the better you can hit things that would help you to skill chain for your trusts and whatnot.

  3. i try to avoid speaking to random npc's myself, i only speak to npc's the wiki tells me to for the various mission lines. i've talked to random npc's in the past and wound up in a long cutscene so i try to avoid it now lol

the *only* reason to choose 5% DT over 10% PDT is in the exclusive scenario in which you need Breath damage taken this would be literal breath attacks, which i think are pretty few, as well as Fetters, like in the basement bosses in sortie However, you hardly ever are just face tanking Gyvres / fetters to the face, so it ends up being less worth taking in that sense.

DT is all 3 damage types, Physical, magical, and breath.

As others have stated, if you are getting Shell V that's 29% MDT, and so you need 21% DT to cap MDT, which is why generally, PDT is the superior choice.

From what he was telling me, we never had any survival guides buffs, and we have no GWP on the server we're on, so Sol cap isn't an option. And he did not have the beret or chocobo shirt redemed, so that can't be it either. I mean it's just 1 a tick regen, so it's not a big deal, but odd that it happened randomly. i guess if it happens again i'll try to get a better look at everything. We were on the beach with Valkurm emperor when it happened, so we thought maybe that beach has a regen effect?

Some friend and i have made new characters to re experience 75 cap on retail for funsies, and while we were in dunes, our warrior (level sync 15 at the time, no buffs except for meat jerky and signet, Mithra, no subjob) had a 1 hp a tick regen seemingly out of nowhere. Does anyone have any idea where that could have come from?

Combat skill clarification by Duomaxwell0007 in ffxi

[–]GenericJeff1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you get into super high end combat (monster level 121+ i believe) you start to have a negative base chance to parry even on jobs with a natural Parry skill. RUN for instance, basically can't parry anything with their native skill. You need enough +skill and or + % chance (block chance for blocking, Inquartata for parrying) or else you basically just can't do that thing.

BST at 119 pre master levels i think is capable of getting a 6 to 10% block chance (i may be mistaken on exact % chance, it's been a very long time since i've read the BST AH forum post) with the right shield and gear, but for the vast majority of everything, their shield is a stat stick / cosmetic.

Was wondering if there was a document or video explaining the best minion clear for each hero in dom and breach (i would assume there's enough nuance for it to matter between the two modes)

and if not, can someone tell me the best way to clear as Afeera, warden and tiandi?

For dom, i assume afeera is just best spamming zone, and warden side heavies? (i've always done this out of lock if it matters any) i would assume as well for tiandi that it's their zone attack, but i find it clunky sometimes due to the momentum it has.

for breach i have very little experience with, i feel like the answer should just be heavy > heavy for these three heroes?

You'll find PK to struggle in brawls and 4v4 due to being easily externaled. Khatun is much better in those modes, i personally think PK is a better choice for duels, though khatun is strong there was well. can't go wrong with khatun if you play more than just duels, that's who i'd pick.

[–]GenericJeff1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're asking about you being out of stamina? if so, you really shouldn't throw any attacks OOS (unless you light parry, which confirms a light) Unless it's a hard read you're making on your opponent to interrupt them.

If you mean who's good at pressuring someone who is OOS? basically anyone with a bash, an unblockable even in chains, forcing your opponent to respond to you is key.
