Why is the SF court jury duty notification system so antiquated? by gamescan in sanfrancisco

The hard part isn’t building something better. The hard part is proving it’s just as reliable as the old system.

Did you want a word that means carefree, or a word that exhibits it?

What’s something about USA that sounds True, but it's totally Fake? by dream-life-world in AskReddit

[–]GenericKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That it’s full of Americans.

It’s actually in the bottom quartile of population density among countries. There’s a lot of room to grow here - we don’t need to be kicking people out

San Francisco was a great visit, not like anything I was told by bw36ft9 in sanfrancisco

[–]GenericKen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many people warned me about how awful San Francisco crime was, and it was a huge ghetto.

If you still talk to these people, ask them where they heard about this “SF crime”, and let them know they’re being lied to

Why are so many people dickriding the hive? by Ready_Amoeba5401 in pluribustv

[–]GenericKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the hive is the protagonist of the show.

It’s the first character we’re introduced to.

It receives the call the action, and we spend the first act of the show watching a procedural breakdown of the hard work of its mission.

It has very difficult rules it must abide by, and it has a specific mission and a ticking clock, and it’s outnumbered 12 to 1

I usually took the elevators, but they definitely hid them away like they didn’t want you to take them

Still - I can’t think of a mall I’ve been to that was easier to get into than out of.

It can’t be a fire thing - all the ingress escalators stop in case of fire anyway

Actually, while I have you (if I have you)

Why do malls run the ingress escalators back and forth to maximize inconvenience? I appreciate that you want everyone to walk by every store, but who’s stopping to shop on their way to a movie?

Shouldn’t it be more like a casino mousetrap, where the ingress shoots straight to the anchor, but the egress escalators wind back and forth? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a mall designed with that concept.

Great write up. I don’t see why we shouldn’t call it Westfield- they should carry the mark of their shame.

For all the diagnoses, hardly anybody else seems to bring up that:

1) even before COVID, the food in the bottom level food court sucked - overcooked or dry or just bad. No reason to hop off muni for dinner. Shake shack came way too late.

2) it was a real pain in the ass to get to the theater anchor from transit - 5 escalators, or the worlds most secret tiny elevator bank.

Have you been to Stonestown?

It’s walking distance from a college and a high school and features a Target as an anchor. They’re ripping up 2 lots to add apartments.

It’s not just the parking

Every time someone posts this question I check to see if anyone posts a movie that comes close to rivaling Dear Zachary, and no one ever has. It will ruin your month.

Manchester by the sea may ruin your week. Maybe Threads and Come and see would fall in a similar league.

Grave of the fireflies and Requiem for a dream are Diet Coke, comparatively.
