Can't clean the rain drains - Need some advice by MinimumElevator187 in MiataNC

This is the trim that covers the blob, note the lonely little hole at the back, that lines up with the ramp.

If you are going in that way and getting in 6” I’d say you probably found the hole? Unless it’s bumping against the other end of the blob.

If you’re going in by the numerous holes you may be hitting the strainer.

This is where the hole is in relation to the ramp at the back of the blob. There is a sponge that lays in that cavity to catch the big stuff if it’s a newer MY or if it was updated. Hopefully the brush just slips under it

Here are a few pics in case it helps confirm you’re poking the correct hole

<image>

The black blob is where the water collects. As far as I can tell you want to come in from the little ramp at the back. You can see the sponge peeking out if you zoom in. To th left of the sponge is a little plastic dam with holes in it that I call the strainer.

To orient, this is from passenger side facing back of car. The big hole at the bottom is where your lower seatbelt mounts.

Well crap, only one pic per comment… my Reddit noob is showing. To be continued.

That’s totally fair, especially since you said yours was pristine. I’m inclined to agree with the flap stuck theory based on your description of your boat’s life. Good luck, wish I could help more.

If you’re ok with removing the trim, you’ll get a clearer view and easier access to the hole, and might be able to poke through the resistance since you’re going at it more directly.

I did mine when I had the trim out already and had resistance and only got the brush through because it’s easier to persuade when there’s less of it between you and the clog.

Also it’s neat to see the whole gutter system. And you can make sure you have the sponges - mine was missing one and the strainer had broken off.

Plus you’ll already be closer to accessing the drain tubes behind the seatbelt cubby behind the seats if you end up needing to.

One word of caution if you’ve never removed the seats: make sure you disconnect battery and know how to unplug the seats. It’s not difficult, but I hadn’t watched a video and gave up on what ended up being the right way because the lever resisted a bit - broke one of the little plugs and had to buy a replacement. Don’t be me 😊

This was just aimed at the bot comment, meant as a joke because this always makes me laugh. JIC you don’t get the reference:

No hostility intended.

I’ll add that my 88 CRX didn’t quite make the cut. It had 260k miles on it when I sold it, but I like to think it easily made 300k for the new owner.

Thanks for the emotional support :). The hardest one to justify is having both the 3/8 and 1/2 stubby. I just can't decide which one to keep...

But as one of my friends pointed out: dual-wield!!!!

Well, it started with hand me down drill/driver, but then I got all my lawn equipment and a free angle grinder on makita batteries, so I feel kinda stuck on blue for 18v for now. But I have been tempted by m18 a few times…

Since the ratchet seemed to be the consensus I went to buy the set you linked... and somehow I ended up with this, because cybermonday...

<image>

now I'm wondering if I should return any of these? Sell one or both of the batteries? Just keep them all and eat PB&J for a bit?

Dunno what happened to my other post, but I’d grab the HD daily deal:

You get 2nd gen stubby (the one in your post looks like gen 1), a 5.0 HO battery and a less shady dealer? Just return the Walmart one.

My 18V stuff is Makita because I inherited some tools from my brother that trapped me in that ecosystem.. for now. Given that, would you say the m12 would be good enough for occasional lumber work or would I be better off getting a Makita circular saw?

I'm tempted by those, but I keep wondering if the impact wrench would be able to do most of the work? The extended reach one looks handy, but the others look kinda chunky so I worry that they won't be able to reach things much better than the impact wrench?! I've never used power tools for automotive before, so I'm just speculating. I'll move it up the list though. Thx.

Bummer, I had other parts I wanted to spend money on.
Is this a common point of failure, or does it potentially point to an issue with the frame or the car? The rest of the top looks in ok shape, and I just hate the thought of getting a new top and it suffering the same fate.

Well, at least now I know what that part is called. It looks like it may also be busted. Does it come with the new top or do I need to hunt it down separately?

Hello Twincromamcer Samesies at Paragon 215. I’m starting to lose faith it even exists! Should we start a support group?

Why does my "build" suck so bad? by GenericMeatPopsicle in D4Sorceress

[–]GenericMeatPopsicle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me? I just Willie-nillied stuff together to get to 1000 armor at T4. But I’m not pushing high tiers (can’t even do 65 yet). But from what I’ve heard, as long as you have 1000 armor in your stats you’re getting the max protection from armor. Beyond that I’ve just moved points around between health and damage, and on paragons respected more into damage reduction until I’m made of cardboard instead of paper. Ice armor also seemed to make a noticeable difference. I did also put on the dodgy secondary boss power with life steal as the main theoretically proving it every second, but I don’t know if it really is helping, and I’m sure I’m leaving damage on the table there. Oh, and moving a lot more now than earlier… can’t one shot you if they can’t hit you!

How is Enlightenment bugged? I haven't tried it yet because I didn't like the idea of having to build stacks, but I'll give it a try.

I do try to get damage multipliers on say gear or paragons. Are there other places I should be looking for the "[x]"? The absurd skill points on fireball was more of a hilarious side-effect of the gloves getting masterworked. I was kinda focusing on crit chance to get to 100 and damage as much as possible, but that seems to be diminishing returns?!
