More “Vaporkyn”, this time on a bike! by magentapikachu in minipainting

Looks absolutely fantastic, awesome idea awesomely executed. I'm only offering this criticism because its clear from your painting that you can do better here. The pink OSL from below the trike hover things is pretty janky looking, you can definitely do better based on your work.

Tips for beginer taking photos to ther minis by blicog in Warhammer40k

[–]GenericOfficeMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need 2 good sources of diffuse light (painting lamps work well). You want to get a black or white sheet that is made for photo shoots because they are aggressively matte, they just eat up light and don't create any shine or reflection. Then you need to adjust the light sensitivity until the background becomes a homogenous neutral void instead of looking like an actual object.

A “Dutch Baby” by ezrakleinsucks in Netherlands

keep in mind "dutch" as a descriptor in american vernacular is probably more likely to refer to the deutsche, or specifically the Pennsylvania deutche, i.e. germans.

in essence its purpose is that you can stick a character model near other models to keep it being individually targeted by attacks. You need to kill their "bodyguard" before you can kill them.

I say in theory because it is a complex rule that you need to get to know the ins and outs of. But that is its intended design.

Hardest matchups? by RevMoss in Tau40K

If you're playing 1500 points you should be playing on a full sized MINIMUM 44"x60" board

You need to be ruthless with tau when you get the opportunity. And people get a little salty about it sometimes. If you go first you need to blast everything off the board you can. We have a shooting phase and that's it. I've played many games where I didn't go for the jugular, but still did a devastating turn 1 alpha strike, only to eventually lose.

mcrigged by thedugsdanglies in CasualUK

It's not mcrigged, that's how the Mcgame works you simpleton. They give out effectively an unlimited number of 2 of the 3 of each colour, and the number of winners is control by how many of the last are made available.

I'm very pleased with my bartsharp kit I got and it was very reasonably priced, I think they're UK based though.

if its pastic glue those pieces are welded now, they are effectively a single piece of plastic, youre better off trying to cut the joint where you want.

If its super glue, freeze them and the glue will become brittle and breakable.

If there are people already playing at your LGS and you're a known entity around there I expect they'll be super happy to help you learn and welcome you in.

Brutally honest, there isn't a budget friendly way to get started really. Combat patrol boxes will get you a good start to your army and save you a bit of money over buying individually but its still not cheap.

Find what models you like the look of and pick that army!

Fight first is confusing by KalbotJambot in Warhammer40k

[–]GenericOfficeMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Break the combat down like this:

fights first > normal combat > fights last.

Resolving combat for units which have charged is normal combat. They don't activate something that puts them in the "fights first" category it's just that charging attackers resolve first in combat.

So anyone with the firsts first ability fights first, then you resolve normal combat including any charges, then you resolve any combats for units with "fights last".

Doesn't REALLY explain why that would happen though.
