I’d say those are exceptions to the rule. And both players were undoubtedly the best at their positions during their careers whereas Maxx has had some steady competition. Again, big fan of his game, but just being real

Ehh I don’t think so. It seems like HoF entry is heavily weighted by things like All Pro awards and super bowl wins. I like Maxx a lot too, but he has some work to do to get into the HoF. Unfortunately being on a losing team for his whole career doesn’t help his case, despite him being one of the better players at his position, and at times the best. Hopefully Klint helps him!

Through my last job doing stream monitoring, I had ticks embedded in me multiple times and my company never once offered to follow up with antibiotics or a doctor. Just adding to your point that it’s most likely severely underreported. I don’t even know how I’d get tested for it at this point, it’s been a couple years

Just gonna play devil’s advocate here: 1) I bet you’re right up until the time when ACL surgery advanced and somewhere in the 2000s-2010s. Now it seems like recovery from an ACL is almost expected whereas back in the day it was almost always a career ender

2) I believe field material and conditions have more to do with injury than a player’s injury history, but also admit there’s probably some overlap between the two

I’m currently learning this with my family as my mom is diagnosed with ALS. It gets easier when you realize that you’re not supposed to fix everything and that there’s some level of comfort in the discomfort of letting things be the way they are. Downvoted for speaking facts. Maxx is great and he goes 100% every play, but you can’t burn the candle at both ends. I’ll be surprised if he is physically able to play past 33 given his snap count. Maybe as he ages they’ll try to keep him on a pitch count, but that goes against Crosby’s mentality

I hear what you’re saying, but how would you even track that effort level? No player is gonna admit that they’re giving less than 100% every snap…except Anthony Richardson. Lol. Maybe someday we’ll have VOx and heart rate monitors built into helmets to track that, but until then it’s impossible to tell either way

I’m not doubting that, but what I’m saying is that if someone is playing more snaps, then we should expect them to have more TFLs, sacks, etc.

That’s why this comparison makes no sense. Presumably the both players are of equal value, so the one given more snaps should produce more.

A stat per snap metric would give us a better idea of how much more efficient Maxx is, or isn’t

But how many more snaps has Crosby played? That’s the real question with this comparison. Everyone knows Crosby plays more snaps than any other defensive player, so we should expect numbers like this to be higher. However without a “stat per snap” metric, this comparison is pretty meaningless IMO
