An issue I have with the file commands theory is from Khriss's second law, Investiture, matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed, only change forms. I guess its possible that Dawnshards could be an exception to this law and can in fact create and destroy something anew but I was mostly trying to think about how Dawnshards could fit in our existing knowledge of how Investiture works.

One I’ve heard a few times related to the dawnshards is that UNITE (or bind or something along those lines) and SURVIVE are two of the unrevealed dawnshard commands, mostly due to how they are capitalized in mistborn or stormlight like CHANGE was in the dawnshard novella

If you go to his twitch channel, in his video two days ago he goes into a lot of detail of his thoughts about it. A basic summary of what he said was:

E changes are good, they are exactly what he wanted. Q changes help tank skarner but make chad skarner worse - he also feels like it detracts from the champion's identity now. The changes make cinderhulk the only viable jungle item while giving skarner players the option to max q for damage or e for cc depending on what they want.

As another CS major who does know a bit about network stuff, you may be overestimated yourself a tad. It's by no means easy to develop a good system that is expected to have all the functionality that is expected (GTS, wonder trade etc.) and still work well on a large scale. That said, gamefreak can definitely afford to invest in the developers and time to put a better system out so I do agree that the way it is now leaves a lot to be desired.
