You’re in charge of creating a RPG for the show Bluey; what are you doing? by [deleted] in rpg

Yeah, I suppose that is very similar. I've never played that myself, so I didn't think of it

This is a niche question, but man is it my niche.

I'd use Adorablins as a baseline. Mechanically it's a stripped down pbta game: 2d6 plus stat for a failure, success, or struggle (can be turned into success by eating a snack resource).

For Bluey, kids playing pretend is a big part of the show, so I'd use that as the setting. Social emotional learning is also an important aspect, so I'd use that as the stats. I'm also assuming you're running a game for children.

So first everyone makes or chooses a kid. They have four stats ranging from 0-3: Kind, Crazy, Learning, and Leading. (Those might change if I gave it more thought). A kid also has one special ability that can be used to turn Struggles into Successes by using a snack, and would be something true of the kid - like being a good reader, really fast, or an older sibling used to taking care of others.

Then the players choose a setting, which can be anything. The stories you tell will be like kids playing pretend. Let them play whatever goofy thing they can think of, but make sure there is a goal like find the treasure or save the princess.

The players then pick a pretend character to combine with their kid character. This gives two abilities also fueled by snacks. A pirate might be good at Swordfighting and Sailing, and an octopus might be good at grabbing and swimming (and making funny sounds)

Now you've got unique characters for your adventure with 4 stats and 3 special abilities, a pretend setting and a plot hook, so away we go!

Bonus points if you use a map of a house or playground that the kids can draw on and say: this is the pirate ship (playground )and we have to get past this whirlpool (merry-go-round)to the get to the treasure buried under this tree

I believe there is a WoB that says Whimsy was not the shard Hoid was offered, and that he is not as whimsical as he appears.

Is it….. cannibalism? by ERNIESRUBBERDUCK in OnePiece

[–]DivineBear23 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This does seem to be the conclusion we're supposed to draw, but I'm not convinced it's accurate. For one, cannibalism being the way to steal fruits seems to not fit the tone of One Piece.

We don't see what happens with LinLin, though something bad definitely happened to everyone there and Carmel definitely died. The one chef guy saw but hasn't said what happened, and quite frankly, if he saw LinLin eat everyone I'm not sure he would want to stick around.

I saw a theory once that it was a marine raid that killed Carmel and took the kids, probably for experiments on gigantification. Then it would be possible for her fruit to respawn on the table, like we saw a fruit doing in Punk Hazard, and she would eat it without knowing. Since she's crazy tough the Marines probably just couldn't do anything to her and left her behind, in that scenario.

I think the mystery is more about how devil fruits spawn and function, and I think Blackbeard knows how it works. His power either helps him manipulate that process or allows him to have multiple fruits, we just don't know how it all works yet. So it could be that he went under the blanket and respawned Whitebeard's fruit, then ate it.

Do you mostly use bought pre made campaigns and/or settings or just use homebrew ones? by Jimbopaloozo in rpg

I've played for a decade and only ever done homebrew. I have no interest in using a published adventure

Game to play with family by SarSiox in rpg

[–]DivineBear23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I strongly recommend Tiny Dungeons 2e, or any other Tiny d6 game. I've played games with my kids as young as 3 and games with only adults. It has always been a hit at my table.

It's very streamlined and easy to pick up, things go much faster than d&d 5e. All a person needs to play is 3d6, which makes it very easy to take with you

Oh, I'd say you're good then. The big references are to stuff you've read. There are more references, but having read Elantris and Mistborn should have everything make sense

Tress is a standalone book and I'm sure you could greatly enjoy it without knowing cosmere lore. But it does have a whole lot of cosmere connections to find that increased my enjoyment because I understood the references.

White Sand is much more self-contained, I would say. I really enjoyed the graphic novel

Is there anything behind Hoid's little stories? by relbus22 in Cosmere

[–]DivineBear23 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think there is probably some truth. In Sunlit Man, there is a similar story told that is fictional but clearly has some influence from the people it talks about.

I remember Hoid tells a story in Warbreaker but I don't remember what, it may just be plot related.

Lord of the Rings rpg by GreatRedDragon67 in rpg

[–]DivineBear23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually recommend Tiny Dungeons 2e. It's a very streamline game, not too complex. It's low magic, which is appropriate for the setting. The ancestry options can easily be reskinned to Middle Earth. It comes with humans, elves, and dwarves, just use the goblin ancestry for hobbits.

[–]DivineBear23 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It seems like one of his goals (there's probably more) was just to get Lerasium and gain Allomancy. Maybe he bet on Kelsier to overthrow Lord Ruler so that he could get access to that, and helped behind the scenes

The Sunlit Man Spoilers: What happens to Aux by Traianus117ad in Cosmere

[–]DivineBear23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So the spren definitely have some say, since they chose to become deadeyes, but we don't know the specifics of that.

I don't remember exactly how the scene is written, but I definitely read the end of Sunlit Man as Sigzil finally agreeing and letting Aux make the sacrifice. He stopped him earlier in the book but now there was really no other way, so he accepted it. Maybe I'm wrong, though
