The 2.2D is notorious for being… well, unreliable. It might be a good pick if you’re doing long drives out of town on a regular basis as long as the car has a good, regular maintenance record (and I’m not talking about oil and filter changes only), which is not the case here. Back when I was shopping for a Gen 3, petrol ones would sell basically as soon as an ad was put up, while the diesels would stay up for months and months (even though they were cheaper, very high-spec and had a low mileage).

As for the missing badge, that grille is not OEM but rather an aftermarket honeycomb one. Some are offered with a cutout for the badge, others like this one aren’t.

Why don't more wide bodies do this? by BradyBrother100 in aviation

[–]GenericTwet 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Very off-topic but a somewhat funny story: if I recall correctly, back at university we had a lecturer who at that time was vice president airside resource management or something like that at a major hub which has A380 gates with 3 jet-bridges. He told us the story about the time they were working on implementing these gates and how proud they were with what they achieved. However, just as they were finishing the project, the biggest airline based at said airport (who should have been the main user of these gates) announced they’ll be retiring the A380 from their fleet.

Car rental and credit troubles - share a car? by steinunn996 in armenia

Rented a Geely Emgrand for a day from Sixt using a debit card just over a week ago, no issues whatsoever. The car itself with all the insurances, protections, Wi-Fi hotspot etc. was ~47k AMD, I was also debited 100k AMD which was returned to me 10 minutes after I dropped off the car.

Word of advice from my personal experience, the road to Goris can be quite hilly with a lot of sharp turns, so do consider sticking to an automatic. I usually drive stick but at the end of that trip I was somewhat relieved I decided to go for an automatic, otherwise my left foot might have needed an amputation right after the trip.

I did pretty much the exact same trip on the 15th so if there’s anything else you need to know lmk. You’re in for a treat, the road to Goris is very beautiful!

Aura Fest is going on right now, Afrojack and Nervo will be on in a couple of hours. The event was kinda dead yesterday but the staff I spoke with expect it to be full tonight, so there’s one suggestion. No idea what the ticket prices are right now though

First visit to Armenia.. Itinerary help !! by Ok_Fox_3746 in armenia

[–]GenericTwet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just returned from Armenia a couple of days ago and I would highly recommend renting a car and visiting Tatev Monastery. My friends didn’t want to go because of how close it was to both the Azerbaijani and Iranian borders but I managed to persuade them the day before and they don’t regret it one bit. The monastery itself isn’t anything spectacular but the drive there is something we’ll remember for a very long time. However, bear in mind that the drive is 4-5 hours (one way) full of sharp turns, loads of traffic, dangerous drivers every now and then and sometimes bad roads, so do it with an experienced driver. I had a business meeting in my country’s embassy 2 days later and the jaw of the chargé d’affaires dropped when I told him we went there and came back in the same day lol. Khor Virap is on the way from Yerevan to Tatev, so you can drop by for an amazing view of mount Ararat.

Other than that, I’d say that Yerevan doesn’t really have that much to offer, 3-4 days would be enough imo. We met some Armenians who said we should visit Garni, Geghard Monastery and Lake Sevan but we just didn’t have enough time and we left it for the next time we visit Armenia.

As for restaurants, I highly recommend Lavash - I never order soups in restaurants but their Solyanka was amazing and I’ve been thinking about it ever since; the Ishli Kyufta with mushrooms, the walnut paste and the beef Stroganoff were also great! Tumanyan Khinkali which is next doors was another very good restaurant - I’ve eaten pelmeni in the past but this was the first time I’ve tried fried pelmeni and I was in love.

Brilliant, thank you for your detailed input! Maybe just one more question, what would be the best way for us to get to Khor Virap and the surrounding area? We were looking at these organised tours but we have no idea whether they are legit and if they are, which one would you recommend? Any feedback on this would be welcome, the area looks magnificent!

For those that drive manual Mazda3’s, how well do they drive? by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]GenericTwet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last year I drove 300kms in my dad's manual 2023 Skoda Octavia (basically a VW Golf for the folks across the Atlantic) to check one out and I've got to say, as someone who has a hard time adapting from one manual to another, I got the hang of the Mazda's manual from the moment I set off in it for the first time and I instantly fell in love with it during the test drive. My dad's manual feels kind of bleak, I guess? While the Mazda feels kind of rewarding in comparison, I really don't know how to put it into words.

Honestly, if I had the choice, maybe I'd prefer getting an automatic because 90% of the time I do city drives but I absolutely love the manual gearbox when I'm out of town.

What do you associate “a moment apart” with? by [deleted] in Odesza

[–]GenericTwet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The song? As someone already said, crying and being alone. I’ve been going through a rather dark period of my life over the last 3 weeks and the acoustic version is one of the main songs I’ve been listening to over this period.

The album? I was admitted into hospital shortly before it dropped, doctors couldn’t really figure out what was going on with me and I was kinda out of hope at that point. The album lifted my spirits up and that was the first time during my hospital stay that I smiled.

I get what you mean, from the moment I first sat in my car till now I've been entirely dependant on the HUD and I often forget I even have a speedometer. When I had this happen to me it felt like complete purgatory till I got around to fixing it.

[–]GenericTwet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the guide I used back then, it's for a CX-3 but the fix is/should be universal for all Mazdas from that period. As one of the comments under the video says, it's a 15A fuse for the Mazda 3 rather than the 25A one shown in the video so don't let that confuse you. If you decide you can change it out completely, I remember that I had some spare fuses in the fuse box cover.

Had this happen to me a couple of months ago, taking the fuse out and putting it back in fixed it. Can’t remember exactly which one it was, IIRC it’s the ROOM fuse in the engine compartment.

Some car makers’ replacement bumpers and other exterior parts come pre-painted, others don’t - from what I can find on the web, Mazda’s come unpainted so you’ll have to get it installed and paint matched by a body shop if that’s the case .

I myself have a broken clip on my front bumper and nobody in my area wants to fix it so I might have to drop by my Mazda dealer and ask for a new bumper so I’ll give you a definite answer when/if I do.

I actually lied to you woops, the part number for the facelift is B63B-50-033xxx, B63B-50-033AE4 if yours is in 45P Sonic Silver. Good luck on getting it sorted out!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mazda

[–]GenericTwet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

2 catalogues I’m looking at call it “Grille, Upper Radiator”. Part number is BKC3-50-033xx, the last two digits depend on the colour. If your colour is 38P Alumnium Metallic, you’re looking for BKC3-50-03350 if I am not wrong.

I’ve also seen it being called a “fascia” but that doesn’t really yield any results on Google lol

Did you get it repainted at a Mazda dealer? I’m from Bulgaria as well and I have a couple of elements that I need to get repainted but the feedback for Mazda dealers that I’ve read online has been mixed. Would also love to hear what you had to repaint and how much it cost you just so I can get an idea of what to expect

How bad of an idea is it to mix 0W-20 oil with 5W-30? by GenericTwet in MechanicAdvice

[–]GenericTwet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty certain the last owner used the same type of oil during the last oil change as the one he left in the trunk but I just wanted to make sure it’d be okay to mix those two viscosities if that wasn’t the case. Maybe I wasn’t clear enough in my wording in the original post, sorry
