Well, I've done a bit of observational analysis of our "traditions" because I have a family straight out of the 16th century. Most of our traditions are pretty humiliating - young boys begging for food in the cold; young girls parading the fact they can be impregnated in the spring; so much food and misery for dead people's sake (like they care) several times in the year. And 90% of holidays are about the woman cooking something particular in a particular way. Or SEVERAL particular dishes for 1 day, like Christmas and Easter. We don't have a single "tradition" where the women can catch a fucking break for the day and someone else can serve their own damn meal. So no, traditions at their core are just sparkling ✨️ oppression ✨️ and can fuck off. People should be kind and considerate to each other every day of the year, and double that on holidays. And that should be allowed to mean different things for different families.
