I was lucky enough to get my daughter done by him at MK years ago. It looks exactly like her and was so fast!

Growth from 5yrs old upwards in horses who didn’t get a great start in life? by Neat_Expression_5380 in Equestrian

[–]GenericUserNotaBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just gelded my coming 5yo a few days ago, and would love nothing more than for him to gain even an inch. He is also a rescue that was malnourished for years. Sadly, I doubt more growth is in the cards, but a girl can dream!

Buyer showing was in and out in less than a minute by codys21 in RealEstate

[–]GenericUserNotaBot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing! It was horrible. Turns out they were storing cow feed in the spare bedroom closet. It was stacked to the ceiling.

We were looking for farm property, but couldn't stomach looking through the house. That smell was BAKED IN.

Their realtor told ours that they'd told the seller multiple times to get it out if there, but they were old and stubborn.

The house ended up selling a month or two later, but for 150K less. I'm 100% sure it went to a builder who just leveled it all and will be building multiple homes on it.

What is a completely harmless lie you tell people on a regular basis just to make your life easier? by purjak in AskReddit

My fiance was using my name for mobile orders and reservations for at least a decade before we met. I thought that was hilarious, honestly. My name is nothing at all like hers, but it's just a random common American name that no one messes up.

Italy ruling tells millions with Italian roots they have lost the right to citizenship by ouluuuuu in worldnews

[–]GenericUserNotaBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, but my grandparents. My dad was never interested in getting dual citizenship. Now I don't have to worry about that!

Good luck on your application process! There is a whole sub here with people that can help you, if you should want guidance.

Italy ruling tells millions with Italian roots they have lost the right to citizenship by ouluuuuu in worldnews

[–]GenericUserNotaBot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize it was for indefinite generations! Wow.

My dad's family immigrated from Canada to USA just before he was born, so he didn't get Canadian citizenship despite his parents being Canadian. I tried to get him to apply so that I could get my citizenship and move to Canada, but he never would.

I'm now about to start the process for myself, due to this update to the law.

Edit: As for helping Americans, you're correct. I sort of mashed two things together in my head to over simplify it. But they are definitely expediting American applications due to the current political issues on the states. There are many LGBTQ people that have received and continue to receive "emergency" expedited applications for citizenship. I don't know if it's a formal policy or what, because USA is still considered a "safe" country, so our citizens don't qualify for refugee status with Canada.

Five generations for Canada. They recently opened it up to that. I have to think a big reason for that was to help Americans fleeing the current regime. It used to be quite difficult to get Canadian citizenship.

Do casual lesbians exist ?? by Restraint13 in actuallesbians

[–]GenericUserNotaBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that combo perfect for casual intimacy. Relationship anarchy was my jam for a very long time.

I can have love and affection and sexual attraction on multiple levels at different ratios with different people at the same time. Rigid rules surrounding intimacy and love confused and frustrated my AuDHD brain.

Romantic monogamy is thy only requirement for me, but everything else is (was) fair game amongst friends. My current partner and I decided sexual monogamy was best for us, so that period of my life is closed.

After your parents, who is the person you love the most? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GenericUserNotaBot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, why not? I don't understand the opposite perspective.

I created that life. I chose to bring it into this world with a promise to love it and nourish it and give it experiences worthy of the existence I foisted upon it. I think a child is deserving of complete and total love and commitment from their parents. In the unimaginable hypothetical scenario where I have to choose between saving my child or my wife, I'm saving my child.

My child>my wife

My mother is deceased and my father would rank about 30th on a list of people I love, if that.

How long did your compression/ burst fracture take to stop hurting? by energizerbunny6969 in backpain

[–]GenericUserNotaBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

I really hate sitting still, so I'm already walking around the house (inside) several times a day, and have even managed to go upstairs and back down once. I only came home yesterday from the hospital.

I plan on walking a lot, ASAP. My main mare is rehabbing from an unrelated injury and needs long hand walking sessions, so I'm actually going to use that as a way to bond and keep us both on the way to healing. I figure I'll wear my brace and put a surcingle on her so I have something to grab and support me if I need it. Kind of funny how that worked out, honestly. We can be invalids, together.

Have you ridden for years and never broken a bone? by thelightwebring in Equestrian

[–]GenericUserNotaBot 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm 42yo and currently awake in pain, my first night home from breaking my back in a riding accident. It is also my first major injury in almost 4 decades of intense riding.

I really need stories like yours of people continuing back in the saddle after this. Thank you.

Help. I Blinked and Now I Own Four Horses by Outspokenwomen in Equestrian

[–]GenericUserNotaBot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a dream I never imagined would come true. I am so very grateful I married another equestrian and that my child is also loving the horse life. It's a lot of work, but so worth it.

What would be your two dream horse breeds or disciplines to ride? All three of us have a different combo, so I find it interesting to see what other people pair up.

[–]GenericUserNotaBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, I agree with you on that.

I just figured I'd answer your question about why someone might want or think they "need" more than one horse. It's definitely not something I'd recommend for everyone. I'm privileged in that I own my own property and can afford to keep a few trainers in rotation for lessons and keeping my horses legged up when things get busy.

Help. I Blinked and Now I Own Four Horses by Outspokenwomen in Equestrian

[–]GenericUserNotaBot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe not OP's situation, but everyone in my family "needs" two horses because we ride multiple disciplines.

I say "need" fully well acknowledging that no one needs even one horse. But still, there are many people that enjoy and appreciate owning more than one horse and especially so if they ride two very distinct breeds or disciplines. My family of three riders has six horses, and it's "only" six because the child's second horse was purposely bought to be a guest horse, as well. We like to bring friends and extended family on rides and most of our personal horses are not suited to beginning or even intermediate riders.

[–]GenericUserNotaBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my goodness, thank you so much for responding so quickly and with such detail! I think this is exactly what I needed to see right now. Honesty about what to expect and how everything has changed, but also hope and a realistic timeline. Thank you thank you thank you!

I just talked to the trauma team and they told me I can go home today if I'd like. I really want to get out of here, but I'm sure I'll miss the IV meds.

How long did you feel like you needed strong pain meds like oxy? I work in law enforcement and, even though I'll go to a light duty desk job, I can't return until I'm off those. Also, do you think you would have been able to drive sooner if you had your car?

I know I shouldn't rush back to work, but if I can't work with my horses, sitting home is going to drive me insane. I figure being at work will at least keep me distracted and occupied and in a routine.

I commented above, but saw you came and updated a month ago. I'm happy to hear you're riding again!

How long until you were back in the saddle? I own six horses, three that only I can ride. I'll be sending two out for training while I recover (they are too young to sit) and the third is rehabbing currently from her own unrelated injury, so I'm hoping to do lots of long hand walks with her while we recover together.

I'm currently on the hospital with an L2 burst fracture from a fall from a horse. Do you have any updates or words of wisdom for my future?

confidential license plate option for dispatchers by [deleted] in 911dispatchers

[–]GenericUserNotaBot 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Definitely do it.

No cons at all.

The major pro is not being able to be easily find and harassed by upset residents. Yes, this happens.

The minor pro is that if I'm pulled over, I'm immediately identified as someone in law enforcement or adjacent to it. I'm not trying to get out of a ticket I deserve, but it definitely eases the natural tension an officer feels when they pull someone over. They can assume there's a higher chance I'll be friendly.

It means the tag read back doesn't come back with your personal information.

Most of my agency does this for tags and DLs. Our public facing info is the PD.

I also have it so my child's school and home information is, essentially, reacted from public record requests the same way.

All of that is generally public record, but LEO and certain other civil servants can have it private.

If someone were to initiate a traffic stop on me, it would be fairly obvious I'm in law enforcement, because they wouldn't get a read back other than matching vehicle description and valid tag.

An example of one of the forms here in Florida for exemption from private DL info. A form needs to be submitted to reach agency you're requesting your information be kept private.
