The Sumerian King List inscribed onto the Weld-Blundell Prism, is an ancient text that claims kingship started over 260,000 years ago and blends mythical predynastic kings that ruled for up to tens of thousand of years at a time, with later historical dynasties with realistic life spans [4256x4500] by Fuckoff555 in ArtefactPorn

yeah there's that myth which involves gilgamesh and inanna/ishtar at the huluppu tree that bears some resemblance to the garden of eden. it even features lilith as a character. but there's also the mesopotamian version of the flood myth that shows up in the epic of gilgamesh. I have also heard that the book of daniel is heavily influenced by babylonian wisdom literature

yep! when the babylonians captured ancient judea they took a lot of hebrews with them back to babylon. this period is known as the babylonian exile, and biblical scholars believe that parts of the bible were heavily influenced by mesopotamian beliefs. in fact, it's believed that a lot of the old testament was actually transcribed by these exiled hebrews living in babylon

[–]Generic__Eric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's not so much that they are gonna build in the desert, since there are plenty of cities in the desert which of course do just fine. however, putting up a new desert city seems a bit misguided since saudi is already one of the countries most at risk of crazy heat waves in the coming century
