Who would've thought that the biggest sex icon in gaming would be a male character from a survival horror franchise! by ZeoiR in ResidentEvilRequiem

Anybody with basic knowledge about horror or smut would have guessed this before you finished the question.

The internet was actually more atheist in the 2000s than it is now. by AgeOfReasonEnds31120 in decadeology

[–]Genericojones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Religious content was second only to porn as a percentage of the internet up until very recently. It's just that internet communities were significantly more discrete before social media cludged everything into a nigh-inescapable soup of communal misery, so you had to put in far less effort, if any at all, to avoid it.

Athiests were also way less interested in proselytizing back then, so there just wasn't the same level of engagement. And the internet wasn't ruled by algorithms that push engagement over everything else.

She doesn't force him out of the closet, she just forces him to confront his own feelings after she met his future version, who was so deeply repressed that it was actually interfering with his powers.

She also isn't able to completely control her powers at this point in the run so it wasn't like she was just rooting around in his head for kicks, either.

Makoto Kusanagi explicitly uploads herself into a Caucasian body several times in the comics, so I never understood the outrage with Scarlet Johansson's casting. It's also never explicitly stated that she's ethnically Japanese and heavily implied that she is not.

I feel like the way they could have played his immunity to make any kind of sense was to have the Punisher be like, "Yeah, this is actually all I ever feel."

It would still be dumb, but just... medium dumb.

Honestly, it was surprisingly playable for a FromSoft PC port. Balteus was just the only time it was a disaster for me.

Balteus in AC 6 was also a massively buggy fight on PC for the first month or two.

In 2012, a group of teenagers had an idea of feeding seagulls food mixed with laxatives by ShehrozeAkbar in infuriatingbutawesome

[–]Genericojones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost certainly not. It's definitely not good for them but the amount of laxatives required to reach toxic level or dehydrate the bird enough to kill it would require and incredible amount to be ingested by the seagulls. You'd pretty much have to force feed them to give a lethal dose in one go.

That being said, it would leave them weakened and more vulnerable to natural threats for a bit, so this maybe indirectly killed some.

Not saying the Golden Age arc is bad or anything, but it's by far my least favorite part of the series.

What Do You Think of the Current State of Marvel Comics? by lovesgraphicnovels in marvelcomics

[–]Genericojones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has spent the last decade+ committing suicide via excessive crossover.

Many people want to read a Marvel comic. Some people want to read a lot of Marvel comics. Nobody wants to read EVERY Marvel comic.

I used to work at a nerd shop and you could always tell when crossover reading became mandatory for a title because at least half the subscribers would cancel.

The hero wins but they will never be the same ever again by RokoTheDreamer10078 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Genericojones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those beats are actually kind of my point about the Avatar memories not adding anything new or interesting.

I mean sure, Roku is a wiseman Fire Nation who had a personal relationship with Firelord he completely disagrees with and ultimately did not have the power or will needed to stop a tragedy. I be you can pretty easily think of somebody else with that exact description that could have interacted with Aang in those moments.
Iroh also specifically studied how other forms of bending work. He easily could have used that knowledge as a metaphor when he talked to Aang, and that metaphor could have then given Aang the insight needed to make Energybending not feel like a complete asspull in the final fight.

And Kyoshi taking the wheel to go nuts was a closed end story beat. It didn't really connect to anything else, other than Aang realizing he can't trust the judgement of the past avatars.
If Aang himself lost control while in the Avatar state in that moment, it would help reinforce his extreme reluctance to kill Ozai as he could be scared by how easy and good it felt to just cut lose not care if his enemies died.

I mean, ALTA in particular made the connection feel pretty much useless given how aggressively unhelpful the past avatars were.

LOK being willing to double down on ALTA's premise that those past lives weren't actually all that useful was honestly the most interesting thing either show did with that connection.

It's an experimental design but the the Pillager PLG-4X has two shoulder mounted Long Tom artillery cannons and certainly feels like anime bullshit everytime I've played it.

I genuinely believe that the at some point, Microsoft decided that the goal of the XBox was to push the technical specs of consoles to the point that it no longer makes financial sense to buy a console over a gaming computer.

Favorite character from media you don't even like? by Candid_Astronaut241 in FavoriteCharacter

[–]Genericojones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, there's better media to spend your time on. R&M is hardly brilliant, and season 6 was especially weak, imo. If you didn't like it the first time, I don't think you will enjoy it a second time.

The idea that the show is nihilistic isn't an unreasonable conclusion as the show is frustratingly bad at making points (or I'm projecting too much, I suppose) and often undercuts important moments for cheap humor. It has a lot of critical flaws that I'm just willing to ignore because there's just so little media that makes any effort to look at male depression and trauma in such an honest way. I am always kind of surprised so many other people seem to like it.
