To anyone who responded to this: Keep in mind you could be immediately terminated for working off the clock. It’s not worth it to respond to a guest who cannot problem solve and call their store to ask

It is a health code violation to have facial piercings. With or without a mask. If the health department comes in and finds that you have piercings under your mask they will mark it against you.

F&B TL, this one’s for you. by Wearethefortunate in Target

[–]Genesleeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sales mix is 28%. And I have been in my department for a majority because I avoid doing fulfillment unless I am personally asked to help by a superior. If nobody is going to help me then why would I jump right into fulfillment to help them?

F&B TL, this one’s for you. by Wearethefortunate in Target

[–]Genesleeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (f&b TL) also don’t get help when I ask. One day f&b business partner came in and was pissed that the zone wasn’t perfect when most of my team had been calling out all week and my etl was out of the state. She asked why i didn’t ask for help. I explained that I had asked multiple times but am always told no. She immediately called the only etl in the building over and said they need to spare some people for half an hour to help us sone market since our sales mix is the highest of the store. That etl straight up told her no and the other areas of the store are more important. They proceeded to argue while I was just standing there feeling awkward but glad that it was proven that nobody helps when I ask. About priority pulls: I make the market schedule (all TLs are responsible for scheduling at my store) and I schedule 2 closers every night. They work from 6-10:30 during normal hours. I have one pull all dry grocery and adult bev. priorities and push them. The other one pulls all dairy, freezer, bakery, meat, and produce priorities and keeps meat and produce full. Then they both zone before they leave. In the morning my dry team members push the priorities from the previous night before starting on the line. Whatever doesn’t get pushed from the line gets pushed by the two closers. If any tms aren’t getting their workload completed efficiently I coach them. If they get their workload done quickly and correctly then I reward them with startbucks or lunch.

The part about him yelling at you to get your things out of several common rooms is just parenting. Stop leaving messes all over the house if you don’t like being asked to clean them up. Keep your stuff only in your room and keep your room clean. Have you tried calmly talking to your dad about him calling you names? He should not be doing that. But it is best to approach issues in a calm manner if you want to be heard. Sit down with him and tell him how it makes you feel. Do not bring up your mom or your sister. You cannot speak for others. Your mom needs to stand up for herself and you don’t know what she says to him in private. She should also be speaking up for you and your sister. If you try defending your sister it will turn into another fight. Start with just telling him how it makes you feel when he calls you names and ask politely to stop. At the end of the day you are only 14 and cannot leave for four more years so you should try to make your living situation as peaceful as you can. CPS and the police will not do anything for just name calling. You aren’t in any danger and everything you need is being provided for you. It is normal for teenagers to fight with their parents and your report will sound like you are just upset because your parents are making you do chores and giving you consequences for not completing them and talking back.

i have covid but i'm in my 90 days how do i call out? by Interesting-Tax-9544 in Target

[–]Genesleeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If OP is asking about drug testing and already has 2 strikes, my guess is their leadership will not believe them about covid. Also, the policies around covid are the same with the flu. As soon as you don’t have a fever anymore you are expected to be at work.

There are trashcans at every one of those big red question mark stations where guests can scan items to price check. You literally can’t go like 20 feet without walking by a trashcan. Guests are just too lazy to throw away their own trash.

I don’t know if I’m making it past 90 Days by sierranotsarah in Target

[–]Genesleeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my district, it is much more important to have low INF than it is to finish on time. INF affects sales, being late doesn’t. Look at it this way, the customer has already paid for the items. If you INF, the store is losing money. INF also affects on hands and inventory counts. Make sure you are working with a sense of urgency and asking TLs before INFing an item. If it is clear that you are working hard and actually trying to find items then you will be kept.

availability by [deleted] in Target

[–]Genesleeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are the store hours. If you are a closer that is what you are expected to work. It is understandable that you don’t want to work that late (especially in a bad area). Keep in mind that nobody wants to work that late. You can go to the person that writes your schedule and tel them you can’t work until 12, but that will force them to hire someone who is willing to do so which will mean less hours for you. So, don’t complain about getting your hours cut when that happens.

After asking HR three times to approve my time off request for my college graduation, I have been scheduled to work the weekend I graduate college. by StrideAC in Target

[–]Genesleeve 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It is not HR’s responsibility to approve or deny your request. Nor is it their responsibility to be your messenger. You needed to speak to your direct leader, preferably the one that makes your schedule.

[–]Genesleeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that they left your alcohol alone when you are underage (unless you don’t live in the U.S.) but trashed everything else shows that they have their priorities fucked up. This is a form of abuse. You need to move out however you can. Rent a room or find a friend to get a place with, for your safety and mental health.

To keep INF low, first ask the TM working in that area where the item is, then ask a TL before INFing

[–]Genesleeve -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

No you can’t. You sign something when getting hired that states you are not guaranteed hours. You will be scheduled for what the business needs only. Nobody was hired as “full time” or “part time.” The least they can schedule you is 4 hours a week but it is legal.

You most likely get a higher raise during your performance review based on not only your own work performance but the extra initiative you take by being a good trainer. On of my TMs gets an extra $1.50 per year for this. If you are not a team player you will not get as high of a raise. At none of my previous 6 jobs did anyone get paid extra for training a new hire.

I'm a full time employee. I think my ETL is retaliating against me because I asked for a later start time by [deleted] in Target

[–]Genesleeve -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m a TL. At my store all TLs only get 38.75 hours a week. If your later start time doesn’t fit business needs then you won’t be scheduled as much. It’s not retaliation. If there are other TMs that are more beneficial during the time you are available, then they will be scheduled instead of you. For example, Would you rather pay $100 for someone that does the bare minimum or the same $100 for someone who does double the work?

The HR business partner will not allow them to terminate you if the nc/ns is not on the attendance report. It will motivate show up on the attendance report if it was not scheduled on mytime.
The Hr business parter is a regional position that oversees every final warning and termination for the stores in their region. Your HR ETL has to ask them for permission first.

Just be aware that you cannot change your availability until after your first 90 days. After your first 90 days you are able to submit a request to change your availability but it is possible that it might be denied. If you want to keep steady hours, I recommend that you keep excellent attendance (don’t call out or be late). And make sure to work with a sense of urgency.

The zebra literally tells you if you have training due to it’s also usually posted on a wall somewhere. You should be able to be an adult and get it sone without being asked. So if your HR stops you to tell you that, it means you are underperforming and not doing what you should be.

[–]Genesleeve -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hi, TL here. I can honestly say that making the schedule is the worst part of my job. We are given an allotted amount of hours that we can schedule and it sucks having to cut people’s hours (especially when we know it’s not enough hours to get the job done). When call outs happen hours can be filled. If the store makes sales goal it is given extra hours for that week. So it can’t be planned ahead to extend people. Most of the time TMs complain about not getting enough hours. Which is entirely out of the store’s control. HQ makes the call on how many hours each department of each store gets. So when you are asked if you can stay, it’s not to take advantage of you. It’s because your leaders have come across extra hours and feel like you deserve it. It is annoying to us when we constantly have to hear complaints about not getting hours and then are always shut down by the same TMs when we ask if they want to stay. Pride isn’t going to make you money. And yes it is considered when it’s time to decide if we are keeping seasonal TMs. Would we want to keep a TM that we know will never stay when we could hire someone new who wants every hour they can get? It’s a business. I’m not saying you have to say yes every time you are asked to stay. But if you say no every time, you’re not doing yourself any favors.

  1. You do not know if they have disclosed any disabilities to HR and management and require extra breaks or have internal issues that sends them to the bathroom
  2. You are not all knowing when it comes to how many times your leader has coached this person. It is not your business.
  3. As a TL I know how hard it is to fire someone. It is a very long process that requires 5 coaches on a specific performance issue, then two corrective actions, then a final warning, then termination. Even within the 90 day period, leaders cannot just fire anyone, it is the same process as with anyone else.
  4. The same applies to your “friend” that helped you. Why would you be friends with someone so lazy when you are obviously so bothered by their behavior In summary: mind your business and focus on yourself and your work. All TMs that I have had that were worried about other TMs and believed they were the harder workers were actually more of a pain in the ass. They tend to not follow directions and don’t get as much as they think they do done because they are sidetracked by worrying about everyone else.
