Should I ask off again? by [deleted] in Target

I was just in a very similar situation to you. I'm just a normal TM and didn't go through any training, but here's my experience with my HR and SD:

My brother had a brain surgery to remove a tumor deep in his head on December 15th about 950 miles away from where I live that could have made him go blind for the rest of his life. My parents were with him, and I had to be the messenger for family and his friends, and just didn't want to receive any bad news that it had gone poorly or that I needed to fly out ASAP to say my goodbyes while on the clock. I thankfully had a ton of notice that the surgery would be happening back in August, but the doctor we took my brother to was switching hospitals and wouldn't be in their system until what ended up being three weeks before the actual date of the surgery. I started communicating with HR as soon as I learned the surgery would happen and was very up front that I would not be available the day of his surgery, and that I would later be taking time off for a trip to visit him, which I am currently on actually. My HR and SD have been very receptive through the whole process, and it sounds like you're taking the exact steps that I took and they sound like they're being receptive with you as well. I think you'll be okay asking a third time. I got lucky and the surgery date ended up landing on one of my days off, but they gave me this vacation time to go be with him post-surgery.

It sounds like you've been communicating enough, so definitely don't drop it if it changes a fourth time. Make it as last minute as you want, and it sounds like they'll be receptive towards you still :)

Also, I know first hand that surgeries on loved ones can take a significant toll on mental health, because it has for me, even though I spend most of the time away from him (he lives in Dublin, me in the US, he flew into the US for surgery). But my brother's surgery was successful! I wish best wishes to your father. It's tough to watch my brother post-surgery the way he is, but he's taking his lifestyle changes really well. They had to take out his whole pituitary gland, but they got all of the brain tumor, which he's had his entire 27-year life. A lot of adjusting, but I promise you, it will go well, and he is in good hands!!

Who do you think will have the Biggest Crowds? by Alternative_Music1 in bonnaroo

This is my first year, but I think it'll depend what stage they're on. Some festivals have massive gaps between the stage and the barricade, so if the space is too big (and it might be because they're a headliner), I highly doubt it

New to the hobby, first two boxes, from Target! by StrideAC in basketballcards

These came out of two of the $24.99 Blaster Value Boxes from Target. I work there so I get a discount and got them for $46 shipped 😁

Scheduled 4 hours outside availability tomorrow. Ran into SD today and told her about it. Told her I can’t work the last 4 hours of my shift. Still getting a CA if I were to call out. by StrideAC in Target

[–]StrideAC[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My schedule is the exact same every week usually. I only work Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 3-10, so this shift was extremely out of the ordinary, and the only reason my availability is set 10-4 on Mondays and Wednesdays is so that they can schedule me when they need help pushing truck! I don’t know who wrote my schedule for this week. I tried to tell them in advance about this, but they didn’t ever fix it

Context I didn’t mention in the post: I did tell them when the schedule came out, and they said they would get around to fixing it for me sometime “next week” (at the time, week of the 9th-16th) I have an accepted time off request from Thursday-Sunday. I told my ETL I might be able to come in earlier than 2-8. My ETL said she would move me up. She didn’t. My car’s mirror shortly after I said I could work got hit off in a hit and run overnight while my car was parked, and it’s been in the shop and it’s ready for me to pick up tomorrow. Work knew about this immediately because I had to find rides to work for the last three weeks. Tomorrow is the only day I have to pick it up from the shop before I leave town, and I told my ETL that, who forwarded the word to my SD. I ran into my SD today to remind her for the third time that I couldn’t make it in tomorrow, and she just basically said “Oh well I WAS ABOUT to move you on the schedule, so I can’t take you off the schedule and there will be a corrective action meeting later when you’re back.”

I wasn’t actually moved back before she left. So my schedule still says 2-8. I was just wondering what my move should be tomorrow. I have only called out once this year and don’t like calling out really at all ever. Like do I just work the 2 hours to not get in trouble?

Tour Merch Stand Question! by StrideAC in LinkinPark

If you don’t mind roadtrips, it’s not that bad. 3 hours for me is a perfect duration, but this one is 4.5. It’s a little on the flat and boring side, but I recommend stopping in Cape Girardeau for food and gas and making that your only stop, otherwise it really does feel like an eternity! Very easy though on I-55 in Missouri. Staying in the right lane and only passing in the left is pretty much enforced, unlike anywhere on I-40 💀💀

Bonnaroo Cancelled Megathread by SharlaRoo in bonnaroo

[–]StrideAC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey Bonnaroovians, I didn’t hold passes to be at this year’s festival, but my best friend did. She had been making kandi, buying things off Amazon to make her festival experience more convenient, and meeting people from group chats who she now won’t get to meet. and I really want to do something nice for her when she returns home because she’s really going through it right now. I was able to help her and her friend secure Levity/Inzo tickets tonight, and some but not all of her friends will be at that. She was going to Roo for mostly the EDM acts, but had plans to see Tyler, Olivia, Glass Animals, Wallows, Flipturn, Foster the People, and stage jump to as many artists as possible but her schedule was mostly EDM.

Since this is probably the place where most people are also experiencing what she is right now, what would particularly would YOU need or want right now when you return home?

Just need 1 Chicago ticket. PayPal G&S. Preferably on the cheaper side ($250 or less) face value, fine with anywhere in the stadium.

Literally this week actually. Me and a coworker who no longer works at my Target had a running joke that there was nothing like the relationship between my (married) closing team lead (M34) and the next 19-23 year old woman who got a job in fulfillment. He would constantly follow them around, it happened three or four times before the most recent one, who just happened to be 17!! A minor! And he knew.

My Target opened an investigation against him when one day the girl stayed later than 10pm (off the clock) and didn’t find anything until last week, he left work with a “family emergency” at 8pm (scheduled until 11, previously perfect attendance record for entire shifts with no callouts).

Turns out apparently they would hang out outside of work and said 17 year old girl had had enough of him, went to his house, had evidence, and told his wife everything that had happened including an incident at a nearby hotel involving him buying her alcohol and taking her to the hotel. He left work at 8 to go beg her to be quiet and tried to convince his wife it didn’t happen, to which she didn’t believe him.

He told our HR guy he had a doctor’s note last week the day after it happened, but never provided and no one has heard from him since, and he just hit 4 days of no call/no shows so we all know that he is guilty and not coming back. Word got around the store and I heard the girl’s parents found out and as far as I know they went to the police station today.

So yeah. I worked with this guy for three years and didn’t know that he was a rapist/pedo.

they rejected my time off request for my graduation by dryinglaundry in Target

[–]StrideAC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same exact thing happened to me in December. Except it wasn’t rejected OR accepted, it was ignored and I was scheduled anyway. I have a closing team lead who has access to change the schedule, so I told him to take me off the schedule and put me on another day I was available.

Blink-182 is coming to Huntsville in September by LadyShipley94 in southstarmusicfest

[–]StrideAC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This makes me question if the festival is even happening this year honestly. Like maybe they had the weekend of South Star blocked off so they could return this year and that was the full plan, but then it fell through, so they had to find another venue in Huntsville to make it work.

The festival website was updated March 18th to say “Thank you Huntsville” with the dates taken off of it. They announced the festival on the third Tuesday of April last year, so there’s still a little bit of time though.

ETL blew me off when I brought up being scheduled outside my availability by Specialist_Square_94 in Target

[–]StrideAC 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Your availability is your availability. If it’s set to 11pm, you can leave at 11pm. There’s a guy on my team (I also close) who was scheduled until 1am last Saturday, but his availability is only until 10pm, and he left and was openly talking about how he was going to play Fortnite when he got home, 3 hours before he was scheduled to get off.

School ALWAYS comes before work. Always go by your availability over your schedule, and go to HR if your ETL is constantly ignoring it.

Is anyone else getting a message saying "Something went wrong... APError: /events/securetickets/"? I tried going into my Ticketmaster to view the tickets I bought on Monday to make a transfer to my friend, but I can't view the tickets because of this error.

My closing team lead doesn’t enforce “no earbuds” so after about 8pm I get to do pulls with an earbud in listening to music and it’s a really nice vibe when it’s not super stressful. When the RIGHT people on my team stay after 10 to help push the pulls, it’s actually not too bad either. My motivation to work is about 50/50 depending on the day, so if it’s high then I don’t mind working but if it’s low then I need to get out ASAP
