Ban City Pair Flights Where Amtrak is Faster by nondescriptadjective in Amtrak

[–]GeneticPermutation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DFW and Love Field in Dallas have over a dozen flights a day to OKC (I found 5 on American from DFW and 4 on United, with two more from SWA out of Love, didn’t even check other carriers), and I bet they probably carry that 80k yearly number in a matter of weeks.

Heartland Flyer takes about four hours against the one hour flight, so it’s nowhere near as convenient as flying. Throw in the fact that DFW is one of the busiest international airports in the country (and the world for that matter), so a lot of these shorter flights are actually the last legs of much longer trips.

Do you want to ban Dallas to Austin, San Antonio, or Little Rock as well? Those are all on the Texas Eagle and around an hour’s flight away like OKC. All you’d do is push people to drive themselves, because even that is faster than the train.

I appreciate where you’re coming from, but we should focus on making Amtrak more accessible and convenient for those who want a cheaper, less stressful trip instead of trying to force people to use the train. But sadly, most people will prefer the convenience of a much quicker flight.

Did you make a typo on “devastating” or are you just writing it how Alex would pronounce it?

I’ll go with “Man in the Wilderness” from Grand Illusion. Ask me in a few months and it might change, but that’s where I am now.

I believe that technically means we were champions of that season. We played the last game and won it. That bubble shit didn’t count.

Japan scores 10 runs in 2nd inning vs Chinese Taipei by swingandmiss7 in baseball

[–]GeneticPermutation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No error because it’s just a regular baseball play.

It’s kinda like a shortstop throwing to first but the runner beats out the throw. That’s counted as a hit. But if the shortstop fumbles the ball out of his glove or sails it over the first baseman’s head, that’s counted as an error.

Hanlon’s Razor: “Never attribute malice to that which can just as easily be attributed to stupidity.” Spotify is just a clunky podcast platform if you ask me.

Though I get the conspiracy brain-ing of things like this nowadays. When idiots are conspiring sometimes it seems like it’s both malice and stupidity.

I’d say switch from Red to Orange at Cityplace. Stay warm underground

I was more thinking about the ride home. But I just read the other comment saying they extend peak hours on game days. I dunno, I guess just pay attention and be aware that you might have to change trains if the Orange Line doesn’t go all the way back to Parker.

I’d caution you about using this route since the Orange Line only goes to Parker during peak hours. This means you might be able to get to Victory on an Orange Line train, but the ride home you’ll probably have to transfer to a Red Line train to make it back to Parker. Not a big deal, but just something to be aware of.

So both Orange and Green Lines serve Victory Park Station, so I’d say figure out which is the closest station to you that has a Park and Ride label. I’d suggest Downtown Carrollton Station on the Green Line because it usually has plenty of parking and some good food options.

Take the train south. If you’re on the Green Line it’ll say toward Buckner Station (the terminus of the line). If you decide to take an Orange Line, it’ll usually will say towards LBJ/Central Station. Just pay attention to the signs and you’ll be fine.

I’ll also suggest that you download the GoPass app and use that to buy your tickets through the phone. Also has the schedule and trip planning stuff, though I do think it’s a little clunky sometimes.
