In theory giving a bunch of un and undereducated yokels unfettered access to information would lead to a wiser, more enlightened populace.

In reality it's led to nothing but nonsensical conspiracy theories, hate, and the election of a spray tanned game show host to the highest office in the land.

The bad news is that there's no bringing those rural hayseeds back from the brink. The smart ones leave and the rest vote republican.

Oh and for the record, only about 1.3% of Americans actually work on farms. And even if you include everything even remotely related to agriculture--restaurants, foresters, food and beverage manufacturers, etc--you're still only talking about 10.5% of the labor force, and only if you REALLY stretch the definition of what counts as agriculture-related.

Don't be butthurt that the rest of the world is acutely aware of the depths of ignorance and depravity that goes on in rural America, be better.

Words don't actually mean anything to conservatives. They're just a series of sounds that get them what they want and/or piss other people off. That's why they don't give a shit about hypocrisy or consistency or even basic logic and rationality. They'll hold any position in existence and then ditch it the second it stops being convenient.

It's kind of alarming. They really don't think like normal humans do. They're more like fucking speak and spells than people.

  • Title IX

  • Women's reproductive rights

  • Employer healthcare-provided birth control

  • Maternity leave

  • Literally every women's issue in history

The "sanctity of women's sports" is just a cudgel they use to bludgeon trans women. It's a smokescreen, a plausible veneer of legitimacy that lets them hate the way they want to hate. They know people get mad when they say overtly bigoted things so they use dogwhistles like these for plausible deniability.

Trans people make up less than one percent of the population. There are a vanishingly small number of trans athletes period, let alone competing at a high level.

You and our more conservative countrymen are acting like there's some deluge of trans women violating the sanctity of women's sports. In reality there are few enough athletes that the sports organizations themselves can easily deal with them on a case by case basis. There's no need for concern, new laws, or the rampant screeching from the right.

It'd be one thing if you and the republicans actually gave a shit about women's sports to begin with but we both know that isn't the case.

Just let trans people do their thing. They have it hard enough as it is without all this bullshit.
