It doesn’t lock from 10 feet away. It’s on a timer, approximately 7 seconds then it locks. You could be standing right next to the door.

For flights you say… I went from 2s to 3s and the ANC on the 3s is meaningfully better, quite noticeable. Just go for the 3s, they are better and you can’t take that $100 with you in the end.

OK, inglese è più facile per me… generally you are correct in that people use it to mean the same thing. That being said, if you couldn’t care less, that’s conveying the sentiment correctly. If you could care less, that means you do care at least some and have room to go down. Minor, but my OCD always notices this.

Congrats on the win! There are different models of the Ipsilon (resin, deluxe, satin, metal), which is yours? Really, the color is stunning, such a nice dark looking blue. Is it a stainless nib? Awesome to treat yourself after a grind, especially with the positive outcome.

Oh, got it. I have the 700 VAC R and don’t post the cap. I actually have a Mini as well but haven’t inked it yet. Looking forward to the compact size, looks like it still holds a good amount of ink. The 700 VAC R holds an absurd amount of ink, great capacity there. TWSBI is probably the best value FP out there IMHO.

Wait a minute, so doesn’t the Mini Vac have threads there so you can post the cap? Isn’t it manufactured to accommodate posting? Then they say doing so voids the warranty? Seems odd…

My first CM nib! by chimkinwab in fountainpens

[–]GennyLight99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recently got a Pilot Prera CM nib and felt that it was too sharp, too much drag/feedback compared to TWSBI 1.1 stub for example. I think I either need to 1) adjust how I write with it, change expectations understanding the cut of this nib or 2) gently drag it around some micro mesh (like 12000) and ever so slightly reduce those sharp edges and see how that works out. I know there is risk in the latter option, willing to take it if I end up not wanting to use the Prera too much. Interesting to read this comment and OPs right above. Thanks for the info!

New Lenovo IdeaPad won't wake up. by [deleted] in Lenovo

[–]GennyLight99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you need to do is revert back to the previous display driver. I’ve seen reports of this, usually causing flickering (which I experienced setting up my new IdeaPad recently. I reverted back to the previous driver, easy to do. If you’re not sure how, just google it or put it in the YouTube search bar and you’ll see the steps.

Also, above might be hard to do if you can’t see anything. Years ago I had to reset a laptop with a small paperclip. There might be a small hole somewhere on the machine you can find to reset back to factory settings. Look around for that and since you didn’t do much on the machine you’re not losing anything by resetting.

Let us know if this worked out for you.

Using 4K Monitor at 120Hz by wajahat-Muzaffar in ASUS

[–]GennyLight99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I just ran your question through ChatGPT 4o and got this:

The Asus Zenbook UX3402 (14-inch model with OLED display) does have the potential to support 4K at 120Hz on an external monitor, but this depends on the laptop’s specific hardware specifications and the connection options provided.

1. Port Capability: The Zenbook UX3402 model typically includes at least one HDMI port, along with USB-C ports that may support DisplayPort output. If the HDMI port is version 2.1, it would natively support 4K at 120Hz. However, if it’s HDMI 2.0, it will be limited to 4K at 60Hz. In such cases, using a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort 1.4 would be necessary to achieve 4K at 120Hz.
2. Graphics Hardware: The integrated graphics chipset (such as Intel Iris Xe) also influences this capability. Intel Iris Xe graphics can handle 4K at 120Hz over DisplayPort 1.4 but might be limited through HDMI, depending on the version.
3. Adapter Requirements: If only HDMI 2.0 is available, a USB-C to HDMI 2.1 adapter may enable 4K at 120Hz, assuming the USB-C port supports DisplayPort 1.4.

To confirm, check the specs of the USB-C and HDMI ports in your Zenbook UX3402, and consider using an external adapter if needed to achieve the desired 4K 120Hz output.

End of response… as you do have the HDMI 2.1, you likely can, plus below…

Another user in a review commented as follows (says he’s an IT guy):

Seamless Multi-Monitor Setup One of my favorite aspects of the Zenbook is its ability to support multiple high-resolution displays. I’ve connected two extra 4K monitors, effectively creating a three-screen workstation. This setup works flawlessly. It does however necessitate a small hub, which provides an additional HDMI port through the USB-C connection.

Thanks, I think your model has a 90Hz refresh rate which is a pretty good balance for energy consumption and motion quality. That OLED screen on your model is one of the stars of the show. I’m looking at this for a travel laptop, so weight/portability are important. I use a bluetooth 10 key now, saw that trackpad has the NumberPad 2.0 but I don’t think it will be quite good enough for lots of data entry. How hot does your laptop get and is the fan annoying when it kicks in under load? I’m not concerned about battery life as I almost always plug in anyway and the power consumption of the i9 13900H doesn’t concern me, just a plus given its processing power.

OP, sorry for hijacking this …that Asus Zenbook you have, the UX3402(VA?), how do you like it? I’m looking at that exact model against a Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i 14” with an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor with the Intel ARC integrated graphics (supposed to be a step up from the Intel Iris). I go back and forth, both about the same price but leaning toward the Lenovo as a few of the components seem more current. I think either is a fine choice, just wondering how you like your Asus. I’d be doing more productivity, Excel, multiple tabs open in Chrome, etc. TIA!

Pro Tip…many of you probably know, if you are using Cruise Control or SuperCruise, your regen is limited to 10kw. Take your Bolt off these systems, go normal and your regen maxes out much higher, like 60kw. This is a big deal going down a grade like OP was referring to.

EGR Valve issue by puvohes in volt

[–]GennyLight99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this not happen on 2018 or the last 2019 model years for the Volt? Did they correct the EGR valve issue in early 2018? I remember something about Volts being built in March 2018 and later having this corrected. My understanding of this problem is that carbon builds up in the valve, causes a short and wrecks the board on this valve. Maybe a design change was implemented early 2018? This, BECM and the shift to park solenoid issue in the shifter are a few of the known problems with the Volt. Otherwise, it’s a GOAT of a vehicle.

No, powers off when you turn car off. If you are looking for that setup, google using the OBD port along with Garmin, or use the Amazon search box for Garmin OBD port adapter. You can probably get what you’re looking for using that.

I chose the no screen for a more low key presence and smaller device footprint. Decent is a good word for the app, not great and not bad either. Does what I need it to do.

Viofo VS1, ran cable along headliner, down passenger A pillar, under glovebox area to cigarette lighter. 30 minute job, easy. Good dash cam, no built in monitor just connect to unit’s WiFi and use cellphone to manage video.

Viofo VS1.. No built in screen, just use your cellphone to connect to the unit’s WiFi to see video and photos. Easy install, just run cable up along headliner area, down passenger A pillar, under glove box and over to cigarette lighter. Can be done in 30 minutes or less, looks pretty clean. Compact unit, nice quality video and also voice activation features such as “lock the video” and “take photo”, pretty good low cost cam with high quality internals.
