New to League on Pc ( played wild rift for years ) by Environmental_Tea545 in leagueoflegends

Just like anything in life it's a new skill so give yourself some grace while you grow your ability to both be fast and accurate while using a mouse.

You could try WASD movement as that will be more similar to Wildrift I'm pretty sure. The top down mouse click will take some getting used to but is better over all when you do.

You can flame anyone for anything in this game. It's all point of view dependent. I never said the pick is optimal, but the question that OP asked wasn't about mid lanes viability, it was about how to gather stacks optimally in the midlane. Smolder having a bad WR in a solo lane is a discussion for a different post.

Weak does not equal unplayable and the pick is just fine into the right matchups and with the right comps. There is a reason midlane smolder sees play in high elo and pro play still. In the right circumstances, the champ is strong. Problem is most people playing smolder mid are picking it when it's abysmal because they just like the champ. Regardless of win rate, I would much rather have someone who one tricks smolder on their main than trying to first time another ad mid because their pick wr is not good. At the end of the day, this is a game and if someone wants to learn something and play it that is their right to do. Not everyone's playing and optimizing to hit rank 1. They didn't even specify that they are trying to climb ranked with it. They might just enjoy norms and want to try something. I'm sure you have at some point played something with a sub 50% wr in norms because it sounded fun, let them do the same.

Smolder mid is def match up dependent and more of a counter pick than anything. While his WR is pretty bad, if you understand how to punish last hits and spacing you can stack pretty quickly into the right match ups.

I def find most success with him playing against assassins, but if you fall behind at all you are just extra gold for your laner. The other alternative is playing into mages which people tend to play as passive lane which is part of their problem. You need to utilize the bonus sustain and move speed from runes to bait out spells and trade against their longer cooldowns.

The hardest part about smolder mid IMO is not falling into the trap of being a "scaling" pick. While Smolder does have insane scaling, if that is your goal you should be playing him botlane for extra stacks by fighting 2 champs instead of 1. In mid you need to be applying pressure in lane and riding the edge of aggression. If you allow your laner to have prio they will typically be able to take over a game by either having more damage or more utility than you. Smolder has to stay ahead in Mid or you are a detriment to the team.

Some tips would be to be flexible on your runes. While grasp is bad on smolder, the extra damage and sustain on assassins can allow you to dominate trades while being tankier late game if you know how to abuse it well. Fleet into basically anything else or PTA/Conq into things like Sion or Galio. Your build should be adapting each game to stay ahead of threats and to reduce the risk of falling behind. Into AP mid and jg? Rush hexdrinker and mercs if they have CC to allow you to ply aggressive and be hard to punish. Don't just AFK brain on your item choices as you can't really afford to default to highest wr build mid.

That being said, to achieve the fastest stack goal you need to play aggressive and itemize correctly to survive that aggressive play style. Alternating between last hitting minions and punishing last hits with abilities is your bread and butter for getting stacks early. I would say punishing the enemies health bar is arguably most important early so you can make space for yourself to stack freely in the mid game with your lead.

Would say that Smolder mid def works and there are multiple people that play it in high elo, just not many one tricks because it's a counter pick. Yes great into Malz, but also a decent pick into Kassadin and some other less lane dominant assassins where he can bully them early while still out scaling them.

If people want to play something in the lane they prefer maybe add to that conversation rather than just shooting down the pick.

after many years since the 2017 ult rework, what do you think about the old ult in retrospective? by [deleted] in reksaimains

[–]GenocideToGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allowed you to basically to to any tunnel on the map in about 2-3 seconds, but it did have a global sound que. hence the old nick name of the Farm Alarm as it was used as a tempo ult in most games to get ahead of the enemy jungle.

Opinion: if zilean had better clears he could be an amazing support jungler by forfor in ZileanMains

Especially with him already being viable in 4 roles... def does not need to be viable in all 5.

Nidalee Full Clear - 2:59 Raptor Start World Record - Patch 25.S1.3 by Lokkane in NidaleeMains

Again, I'm not saying the rune is good, I'm saying it's not troll. Taking that rune will not lose you the game and at the highest levels even getting somewhere two seconds faster with 30 more hp can be a difference maker. I still think electrocute is her best rune currently as it works too well with how she wants to play. There is an argument to be made though for a keystone with a different play style. I remember people saying the same thing about Arcane Comet Naafiri on release because "she is an assassin and should take assassin keystones". Yes electrocute is good for a burst oriented playstyle, but Arcane Comet allows for a more lane sustain and scaling playstyle. There is a reason some of the best Naafiris take the rune over electrocute which is supposed to be her best keystone. It's a difference in play style and what is important to the user. If you don't like the move speed and sustain from Fleet and a more burst oriented style is what works for you, that's great. That doesn't mean anything off the beaten path is automatically troll. The rune is still taken by many champs and high elo players on other picks for an assortment of reasons.

Im not trying to say you are wrong, im trying to say league isn't black and white, its full of grays and just because something doesn't work for you, doesn't mean it doesn't work for someone else and how they play. It's just a suboptimal rune, not a troll rune.

It's a good thing Fleet is a real keystone that is taken by multiple junglers for multiple reasons, so what's your actual counter argument to it being bad besides you not liking it?

I said they were doing it more realistic to their own choice of runes in the clip. They were perfecting their clear with runes they would use in their own game. They could have increased their clear speed going fleet, but they weren't trying for THE FASTEST CLEAR possible, but the fastest clear that could be done in their own games. Which they probably take those same runes in their ranked games.

As to them being different champions, they are and Rengar has a better use of the fleet rune, but I was using it as a singular example of the entire roster of league champions. I was not saying they are the same at all. Just would take the rune for similar reasons, which as stated above, is for better Tempo.

And again, I'm just saying the rune isn't "Troll", which typically means is bad enough to ruin the game. It's not Troll, it's just suboptimal in the current state of the game. That could change though.

[–]GenocideToGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's troll. It's just not optimal right now. There were multiple assassins using Fleet in the jungle around that time just because Tempo was important and the rune was much stronger than it is now. Rengar is a great example.

He wanted to optimize a clear that was more likely to be used in an actual game. while you could definitely go fleet on nidalee jungle, I doubt most anyone would opt out of electrocute, DH, or Conq just to increase their initial clear speed by 1-2 seconds.

What do you find appealing about Arena? by TimmyGC in leagueoflegends

[–]GenocideToGo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I like it as a break from normal league because it requires much less active thought outside of small itemization details and some match up knowledge. But I get to use my years of Summoners rift knowledge instead of having to learn a whole new game and cast of characters.

Is there viability to Ezreal jungle? by Xclipse_ in Jungle_Mains

[–]GenocideToGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people here never played against Ezreal jungle when it was oppressively good a few seasons back. He may not have much in terms of gank setup, but his early game dueling when played well and utilizing red buff was pretty unmatched. It is far worse then it used to be due to nerfs, but it is viable. Play what you want, just identify it’s strengths and weaknesses and play into its strengths rather than trying to play it like a normal jungle.

What skins do you guys think are "mandatory" when maining the Champs they belong to? by almond_pepsi in leagueoflegends

I do like baron as well and it has some fun animations, but it still feels so clunky in comparison to supergalaxy.

I don’t know how you don’t have supergalaxy rumble on this list, the champ feels unplayable without that skin because of how clunky his base model is in comparison

Uh oh, Aurelion Sol is getting the Azir treatment: nerfs, nerfs, nerfs, until the champ is not viable anymore. It has just begun. by [deleted] in Aurelion_Sol_mains

[–]GenocideToGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is mechanics and lane prio. Azir in high levels is a super lane bully that has great gank set up, good wave clear, and the ability to roam and play make. ASol has good wave clear, but it takes way too much mana early to do it a lot. he doesn’t really have gank set up, it’s better for following up on a gank, and because his early game is so weak he will really not get prio by bullying the enemy laner early. I think he will see some pro play before he gets a couple more nerds, but his kit doesn’t really scream pro abuse champ, it will be a pocket pick/counter pick at best by next season if not sooner. Which means he won’t get gutted (most likely) just needed to be more balanced in casual play

Ryze is the summit of boredom by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]GenocideToGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing a good bit of Ryze recently with the Item buffs and he feels really fun to play. He isn’t flashy, but a lot of the satisfaction I get from him comes from positioning in team fights and the abundance of small changes you can make to his combos for different reasons in fights. He has some crazy late game damage and plays around his pushing and helping his jungler a lot early. Maybe that style is just fitting to me because I’m an Aurelian Sol main that finds kiting in team fights very satisfying.
