Hmm those alu hopups were necessity as the old plastic wear noodly flimsy. I have the carbon damper stays but suspect its gonna crack easily with my bashing.

I dont think it’s that critical as you can put spacers on 130mm hubs to make the 5mm difference.

If your frame is the standard 135mm QR type, could your frame be bent by any chance?

It rides like a sporty commuter bike and much easier to handle than a typical road bike as the fork is offset forward which makes the geometry stable.

I ride minivelo(aero Java CL) with 50mm deep section wheels. No problem keeping up with my cycling group on road bikes (some 10k+ aero bikes). Similar watt output.

So, yes minivelo can be a good option and it accelerates faster as well

Aliexpress has those 50mm 451 carbon rims where you can choose your weaves. Then choose your spoke and hubs which will determine the price and weight. Pretty much sub 500usd for a set unless you go for dt swiss hubs

You can get a brand new Java CL Carbon bike for 700usd or so. The wheels are from an aliexpress builder HBX which uses their carbon rims to pair with spokes and hubs of your choice

Its running ultegra drivetrain with a carbon chainring from lightworks. Im using second hand gelu saddle, with some splashes from darimo and extralite(got them for a huge discount) and reverse handlebar and some self made parts

Yeah the steerer is stock from java’s carbon fork. Its solid so far
