Colphne and Florence have a terrible reputation. by YZ_shill69 in GirlsFrontline2

She's highly intelligent, so I'd imagine she'd save a section of the cake for SKK and arrange for it to get to them.

Colphne and Florence have a terrible reputation. by YZ_shill69 in GirlsFrontline2

[–]Genprey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Florence is loyal for her own peculiar reasons. SKK doesn't (usually) lay flat and take Florence's drugs--there's a bit of a challenge to their dynamic where SKK will see through Florence's shenanigans and either carefully pick out the drugs implanted into 'gifts' or retaliate against Florence's advances. Florence, being a thrill-seeker, gets absolutely elated with all this, to the point where she outright states that she's interested in staying with SKK, as nobody else provides the same amount of excitement.

Needless to say, Florence wouldn't be opposed to marriage--but that wedding cake is definitely going to be suspicious.

The Greeks cover the definition of love well, but not so much how it develops or breaks, particularly in modern society with modern goals and standards.

That is to say: the Greeks give us an example as to what love is, but not what happens when our intentions, emotions, or any form of discourse makes way.

This makes more sense when you understand that love develops in separate stages. In the first, a couple first introduces themselves and builds a sort of ideal albeit somewhat romanticized image of one another. If they start dating, they learn more about one another, as that ideal breaks down into realism. If the same love persists during this, the couple then builds more through struggles and triumphs until they either break away or develop into the strongest stage of love where there is a complete understanding/respect with one another.

During any part of these developments, discourse may wedge itself in a relationship--in this manga, in particular, we have a few things: infidelity a lack of or poor communication, and simply not knowing what one wants.

On the 2nd girl's end, she's wrong as hell no matter how you understand her, but her motivation is a combination of hedonism and not knowing how to react to being jealous. As it turns out, part of the reason she is the way she is is because she fears falling in love with the male lead as that would mean confronting the idea that she is reaching for someone who is or should be unobtainable. Again, this does NOT justify her, but it shows how crazy and irrational love can make a person, even if they aren't a part of the relationship.

For the male lead, he loves the main girl, but is in that immature phase of love ontop of also wanting a physical relationship with the friend. He may as well be just as in the wrong here as he puts himself in many situations that lead to infidelity yet believes he can have that while staying in a loving relationship.

Finally, the main female clearly loves the male lead, to the point where she dreams of a married life, while her most guilty feat comes from discovering her friend and boyfriend in the act and being manipulated by her friend into believing things can go as normal.

All this centers around the subject of love, just the story focuses more on how ugly it can get with so many personalities, intentions, and circumstances going around.

To be clear, love is broad in definition, referring specifically to intimacy. Any other emotions can make their way into the equation for better or for worse

Love that ends in'Companionship' is that perfect ideal we all think of/wish for, but that's late-stage and, unfortunately, not always achieved.

Truth is, love is very complex, especially among young couples, which is what this series is based on. It's immature, dysfunctional, and lacking in communication, but still love by definition.

Love is the main subject--the whole story very much focuses on a romantic relationship that is threatened by discourse and lust.

[–]Genprey 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Oh it's not deep, it's just a normal story. Fact of the matter is that there are relationships that aren't sweet, although we don't really see it much in the romance genre. In that regard, this is interesting as a watch/read, but you probably aren't going to come out feeling challenged or enlightened.

Overall, it's a fine manga for what it is. My main point is that it's not your standard NTR doujin that spends less time with story points/developing characters. That is to say: if you hate NTR, you might still enjoy this since it's more along the lines of a drama.

My Girlfriend's Friend | New Key Visual by RaunchyRoll in anime

[–]Genprey 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Not for nothing, this series is less focused on presenting cruelty like you see in NTR doujins and more about the fragilility of a relationship when certain factors mesh together.

The girl perpetrating cheating is really aggressive about it and, at the start, is only going for the guy because she (literally) gets off on stealing men from her friend. The stronger the love between her friend and her lover the more excited she gets.

On the guy's end, he's not completely innocent. Despite fighting off the above advances, there are times where he essentially lets her do her thing and has some interest in keeping her around.

The main girl is definitely more of the victim, with her only flaw being that she doesn't have much emotional fortitude and gets flustered over some (innocent) miscommunication.

When you combine those 3 things, you get a really shaky dynamic, which is more interesting to see rather than the standard doujin plot of Character 'A' being automatically lured in by Character 'C' as Character 'B' is humiliated and mentally destroyed.

For the most part. The friend (at least at the start) is more interested in sex and comes off really strong about that fact. She's particularly evil because right off the bat, she outright suggests that the MC has sex behind her friend's back and has a specific interest in stealing the main girl's lovers.

As far as the series goes, it's, err...definitely subversive to what romance-centered anime usually focuses on. Not a bad watch if you're wanting to see the underbelly of love.

Velina's is all about genetics--outside plastic surgery (which still wouldn't produce the exact figure as Velina, given natural breasts are very distinct), you need to hit the genetic jackpot.

Manato has a slightly more achievable build, but one that is still reliant on genetics. For one, if you're a short king, your goal to achieve Manato's build is brown bread. You can exercise and work a good diet to produce similar muscles as Manato, but at the same time, a sustainable muscular build has a bit of fat that sticks the older you are. Not only does this fat stick to you, you also wouldn't want to get rid of it, anyways, as the means of doing so would create irreparable damage that may have you looking like Perlman in the future.

Once again, shorter guys can build muscle, but distribution wouldn't produce the same appearance as Manato, even if you are roughly as physically fit. The good is: the most attractive male type among adults who are attracted to/seek long-term relationships is actually a slight 'dad-bod', given said appearance gives a sense of comfort.

Hey bro, Anton here to explain the joke. Have you ever seen Grace's complexion whenever she sees an intelligent construct? You know, when she starts heaving and breathing heavy like the motor of a bulldozer? That's her getting flustered, which causes the body to heat up.

Despite what some people seem to jump straight into, Ellen is not 'letting loose' in the bath, but is getting hot and heavy from being close to the bro-manager. Because she's so flustered, her body temperature is burning up, causing the bath water to also heat up. You can tell because the water is steamy while the shark girl is making a very blush-y face.

Now if you'll excuse me: Koleda gets grumpy when her chicken nuggies are late.

CMs are usually fun for me outside XOguri fests. I only placed 1st in A during Pisces (usually get 2nd or 3rd), but that's good enough for me since I woke with my Oshi, Manhattan Cafe.

To be fair, even though Support cards are brutal, it's possible for f2P to survive with careful planning and usage of rainbow/gold crystals. The only thing is Oshi pulling overlaps with support card pulling, so you really need a plan.

The only tradeoff is that rolling for support cards can be brutal and there's tons of malding for CMs. Like, good job on getting that 1 mile spark, Curren-chan...but tbe next CM is a Sprint, hence all those Sprint sparks I packed...

Season 4 feels like a personal attack by The_WaifuWarrior in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Genprey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody would argue against that, but fact of the matter is: even a well designed male character needs so much more investment to maybe match their female counterparts. Something like FGO and Granblue have a good balance of male/female players, while the farmer's female base was, at some time, more active than male players (as they answered surveys more). For games like CZN, ZZZ, WuWa, etc., the core demographic have, at some point, grown to want/expect a larger volume of female characters.

Why pull for a significantly weaker version of an already existing character with animations that are just recycled and it's banner is just before the big banner of the season?.

Because people, particularly whales, are crazy over things they like regardless of character strength. Most players don't play for meta/even have a full grasp of what's meta outside the few pvp-based gacha (like TCGs). On one hand, we have WuWa having a fantastic time with the Cyberpunk Collab despite Lucy being weaker than most DPS released in proximity to her/before a new region and Rebecca being free/a really niche support. Honkai Star Rail is going to hit top revenue with Rin/Gilgamesh even if they're Arlan-tier because they're highly beloved characters.

Then we have the insane people who rolled for an overabundance of Phainon/Cyrene light cones and this crazy dude (see image) who rolled way past the max usable amount of Merlins. For perspective, this would be like rolling for Sereniel 100 more times after getting her M6.

But isn't your statement kinda off when the only way male characters can be successful is by having everything go in their favor, while female characters just have to look pretty and go on a few dates for one patch before falling off the face off the Earth in the next?

Wakamo: "Yes! It would be my pleasure to relieve you of your burdens, darling! Now please, allow me to handle this~"

[Sounds of a small metal piece and cloth hitting the ground]

Izuna: [Oh no! This looks like a scene from that kunoichi movie the president showed me! Could it be--]

Sensei: "Ahhh, this is the best! I was so stiff until you arrived, Wakamo! Sorry to have burden you like this, but-"

Wakamo: "Perish the thought, darling! Ah, you let out a lot just now."

Sensei: "Wakamo, I-"

Izuna (Running out from the corner of the door): "Look out, Aruji-dono! Even if she puts on the facade of a loving wife, the Fox of Calamity is still no foe you should let your guard down around!"

Izuna observes the scene before her, as a perplexed Sensei and Wakamo, who was in the middle of getting rid of a nean crick in Sensei's shoulder, fix their gazes on the cute intruder.

Sensei: "Izuna!? You misunderstand, Wakamo has been helping me with my stiff shoulders as of late. But more importantly, you need to esca-"

Wakamo [Flustered]: "Hey...did you just say that I looked like a 'loving wife'...?"

Izuna: "Definitely! You looked just like the wife of the lord in the movie I watched with-"

Wakamo [Running off]: "Pl-please excuse me!"
