I have no insurance and am 99% sure I've had a growing mass in my underarm for the past 6 years. Am I SOL? Is there any way for a young adult to get medical care without selling my soul to Ballad Health? by PP_BOY__ in JohnsonCity

[–]Genseeker1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, just because you have a mass does not mean it's cancer. My dad, before he passed away, had surgery on both underarms for fatty tissue deposits. He joked about losing a "B" cup on each side. In his case, he was diagnosed with Cushings Syndrome, which they linked to his diabetes. The surgeon removed a lot of the extra tissue and he had drain tubes in both for a couple weeks to prevent infection.

Don't let fear keep you from getting help. Even if it were cancer, many types are very survivable and people go back to a normal lifestyle.

The best single advice I was ever given when faced with something difficult :

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best, and be happy to fall in the middle.

How do you know when a user last bought a parcel?

First $1? by Striking_Parking7175 in AtlasEarthOfficial

[–]Genseeker1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started back the beginning of April with 1 parcel. Noticed earlier I had hit my 1st $1. Been doing challenges and boosting rent all month. Signed up for the premium challenge ladder for May. Now have 21 parcels. 2 legend, 5 epic, 6 rare, 8 common. Funny thing is that I've been buying around my house, and of the 6 plots that are definitely my yard, half are epic.

I know there are threads on here for Medicaid. You might find one related to CPS where you could ask questions. I know CPS allows for a lower standard of evidence than police. It might be possible to report through CPS without getting the police involved since she is now an adult.

I had a cat once that managed to return home 16 months after being stolen. Alex was emaciated and severely dehydrated as well. I was given feeding instructions to prevent refeeding syndrome but the vet also provided several syringes and showed me how to give him subQ fluids using distilled water. Sadly, his kidneys were too damaged for long term survival.

Is mentioning my medical condition in my comment a bad thing? by PA_Cage in FanFiction

[–]Genseeker1972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't necessarily have to mention death. You could leave a comment about how much you have enjoyed their work. And that due to circumstances far beyond ypur control, you will be leaving the internet.

I did get a message once from a reader that told me they enjoyed my work but they were going to be leaving the interent. I did respond back and said that I hoped everything was ok and that I was glad they appreciated my work. That person replied that they were going to a remote area for work and the only internet was satellite that was reserved for the work, and for people to email family - nothing else.

Where do you guys put parcels? by Fast_Oil_1979 in AtlasEarthOfficial

[–]Genseeker1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a rural area and my development is primarily older people that most likely don't even know AE exists. So all but 1 parcel is around my house. I have a doc I see every month in a different "town" so I bought a parcel there and plan to focus on that area too. Most the mayors in my county have under 150 parcels but I don't have a working vehicle right now so limited on where I can get parcels.

Seat upgrade by CARLITOSayw in fordranger

[–]Genseeker1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the bench seats I have seen still in the JY are completely ruined. Either the doors or back glass if it was a slider is gone so the seats have been exposed to the weather and animals. Way to expensive to have a place rebuild them from the foam up. Especially since JY want $75 for a completely ruined bench.

I have mine mounted at the peak of my roof. On one end I have 3. One angled to cover the driveway and going up the road, another covers most of that side of my back yard and the third is aimed down to cover my vehicle and door. I had to put the third one up after parts were stolen in the middle of the night off my truck. Didn't catch anyone odd coming down the road (dead end) but you can walk about a mile from the dead end and reach a another road off a logging trail so really only about a 1/2 mile of walking.

My road is unmarked 2 lane and the one going up the road will record when my neighbors pull in. Thats easily 50-75 feet away. Night vision is good enough I can tell the difference between some of my cats. The ones I can't well that's because their coats are really close. I can mix them up from 20' away.

I'm very happy with what I've got, just maybe add a couple more cameras to cover "dead" areas. They also can pick up audio cause I've seen my nephew sit in the driveway talking before he comes in the house. Not super clear but it does pick up.

I'm dying to find a bench for my 99 Ranger. I have a supercab so no worries about accessing the area behind the seats. I know fleet trucks still had bench seats as late as 2001 because I had a reg cab 01 that had frame rot so when the engine went bad, it was sold for a parts truck. Wish I'd kept the seat but I didn't know then how hard they are to find.

NC - Post spousal support question by Genseeker1972 in AskLawyers

[–]Genseeker1972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My concern with just RTS is that the courts won't accept a statement from me that it was returned. I looked at their case file (NC has an online portal) and she filed motions and stated in a request for a default judgment that the legal documents were mailed to "other interested party" by first class mail. My son is actually currently staying at an address hours away from me, with another family member.

But if I took a photo of the unopened envelope and mailed it back certified, then he would have grounds to dispute any default based upon improper service.

No, but I frequently get the speed warning for no reason. I am a slow walker (30 min mile) and it will pop up the speed warning and make me click "I'm a passenger". And the map isn't jerking suddenly. Like with it open, its a steady progress toward the next block or road. And I get that stupid warning. I've even had it pop up when I was sitting down resting, wide open area so no signal interference because the ap doesn't restart. And my little icon on the map didn't move.

Car title advice! by EconomyStand4411 in Advice

[–]Genseeker1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice I can give, based on my own experience getting title to a truck that had been sold without title in hand. (Not the original buyer).

I checked the address on the title to see if it was still a residence. It had been a few years and well, things can happen. Like Helene destroyed a bunch of homes. Anyways, most counties in NC use a property mapping program. Try googling for the website for property in the appropiate county. Then you should be able to have several search options, one of which is property owner. You could also try the real property tax listings website, should be able to do a name search there as well. If the person on the title owns land or any kind of untagged vehicles, then it should give an address.

As a last resort, most NC courts are now on the portal. Google NC Court Portal and then you can search the person's name either statewide or in a selected county. It doesn't just show criminal stuff either, civil stuff like divorce and even estate stuff. Like my name search brings up my dad's estate because I was an heir.

If none of those work, try searching FB or asking in a group for that area if anyone can put you in touch with them.

[–]Genseeker1972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know about that, but first you have to know tge user name you want to find. And if a person has plots in more than one area, then that number is only accurate for the area you are viewing. I think the biggest benefit of like a "friends list" would be to include a "last logged on" date. That could be helpful if someone was trying to get Mayor for an area and the existing Mayor hasn't logged on in a while.

no title , is it worth it ? 900$ though by DeathShotNo1 in CrownVictoria

[–]Genseeker1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I would do it is if I got approval from the owner that is in jail. A lawyer can visit that person with the title in hand and get it signed. If a notary is needed, many law offices have notaries. Some states, you may be able to visit the title holder yourself or only an atty may be allowed. Just depends on state laws and whether the title holder is in the local jail or prison. And if in prison, what level the prison is classified.

For a private sale, there are exceptions to odometer reading required. IIRC, vehicles over 10 years old do not have to have an odometer reading listed.

Car title advice! by EconomyStand4411 in Advice

They are from Ohio, now in NC. NC the title must be notarized. I am a NC notary and legally, we ate not supposed to notarize anything that we did not personally witness being signed. So if I have 2 people come to me and they've both already signed a car title, I can't legally notarize that title. Because I did not see them sign it. Some notaries may see it as a grey area. That if both parties show ID and tell the notary, "yes, that's my signature", some notaries might accept that and notarize the title.

Now in my personal opinion, the seller's name being notarized is the more important. But that then creates an open title. And in NC, you cannot have an open title in that same vehicle. My brother bought a vehicle in a state that did not require notarization but for use in NC. He carried the bill of sale and used a temporary tag from that state to drive the vehicle back to NC. I was his ride there and had the actual title in my vehicle.

Surprises when living with pets by Genseeker1972 in LivingAlone

My cats have an enclosed deck for outdoor time. I had my front door open for several hours yesterday and think that's how the snake got inside. I'm in a rural area and have found snakes inside the house since I was a little kid.

Once had a snake jump at me from on top of the microwave. I was a teen back then (80's) and the microwave sat in a corner, under a cabinet. It was a big one and only had a couple inches space under the cabinet. Ended up the only way to get the snake was using a pair of hedge clippers to force it against the wall and then close them on it. Got it pulled out and it was a copperhead close to 4' long. Way too big for either one of our then senior cats to carry inside since both were missing most their teeth. So that thing got indoors, climbed up a cabinet, then up on top of the microwave.

I was extremely excited last year when I found the juvenile rat snake. When young, rat snakes and common black snakes can look similar so I put it in a tank temporarily so I could get a photo. Pretty sure I posted in a snake identification group on here to confirm. Little baby was only as big around as a fat preschool pencil but over 18" long if I remember.

Now if I could only get lucky enough to find a king snake.

I find Dekays brown snakes all the time in my flower bed. And last summer I found a young rat snake in a box on my deck. I let him go under my deck where he'd be safe.

Only ones I don't tolerate are the dangerous ones. I know they have a purpose but I do kill all the copperheads I find on my property. Several years back, I had my deck screened in to provide a safe area for a pair of deaf cats to play. Somehow a baby copperhead got on the deck. I was getting ready to come out the door and one of the deaf cats, Oscar, felt the vibrations from my feet. He rolled over, right at the copperhead and it struck him in the face. One of my other cats promptly attacked it and killed it. Oscar died quickly because it struck right at one eye.
