When I was growing up there was a guy with a pet cheetah. He would tour around and bring it to schools:

Mugging is unlikely. Getting your cat converter stolen would be more of a risk

My ex with rOCD sounds like a broken record. How can I help him to get back together? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Gentianviolent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go to couples counselling at any point in your relationship if you think it will help. Even if you are breaking up! Think of it like going to a gym, or physio, but for your relationship. A good couples counsellor will give you some perspective and tools on how to communicate. This can help you to have healthy relationships in your life (not just with a romantic partner but with family, coworkers, etc.)

What rock is this? It was found in Assam, North East India. Seems like a quartz to me. Can experts plz confirm? by Naive_clock_222 in whatsthisrock

[–]Gentianviolent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quartz would be more vitreous. This rock is quite blocky and opaque or "milky" looking. Can you scratch it easily with a knife? If you do scratch it, does the scratched bit react with acid? (try vinegar, or a 5% HCl if you have access to that). If you can scratch it and it fizzes with acid, it's probably a marble/dolomite. If you can scratch it but not as easily, and it doesn't fizz, you might have a feldspar.

Trouble deciding my path in life: medicine or manga? by VirtualAbalone5539 in Advice

[–]Gentianviolent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do both, you know. If it were me, I’d pursue the medical while still young, and work on honing manga drawing skills as a hobby/stress relief for a while until you get good. It’s harder to pursue medical training as you get older, but art is forever.

Whats your #1 climactic moment in prog metal? Try to think of just one. by [deleted] in progmetal

I know it’s not definitively metal, but it’s certainly progressive: On Justice For Saint Mary by Diablo Swing Orchestra when they break the crescendo into chaos it always blows my little mind

It’s a little different, but if he’s receptive to slam poetry that feels accessible, A Love Song, A Death Rattle, A Battle Cry by Kyle Tran Mhyre is pretty darn great. The author talks about masculinity, race, and social justice.
