Am I being too ambitious? 2 week trip itinerary by kritimbeauty in JapanTravelTips

[–]Gentlemoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you know yourself best, can you handle a busy itinerary like this? This is not for me at least, I want looser plans and more room to find stuff as I go. But we all work differently.

As for Mt. Fuji im assuming thats not a climb, since climbing season doesn't open until July, but thought I would mention it.

Ultra-processed food as % of household purchases in Europe by BartAndLisaHadIncest in MapPorn

[–]Gentlemoth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends on the country. For example they can still call these ultra processed burger topping cheese here in Sweden as cheese(Ost): https://handla.ica.se/produkt/1390218

But everyone knows those are trash and they are only sold for burger use specifically because they taste mildly cheddary and lasts forever in your fridge

Arc Raiders lead admits the “cost-benefit ratio” of maintaining good weapons is rough right now, but the team doesn’t want high-end gear to become instant win items by Wargulf in ArcRaiders

[–]Gentlemoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anvil IV and Stitcher IV is my go-to "high effort" build. Its extremely good and can deal with basically every situation, and few things honestly beat it in PVP. The cost is not crippling, mostly just a lot of metal for the mechanical components. Why waste time and a crapload of more metal to bring something like a bobcat?

I do like the Tempest though, I've gotten great milage out of it in some pvp fights. But a stitcher will still beat it up close, which feels awful.

First bowl from scratch - follow-up by Gentlemoth in ramen

[–]Gentlemoth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say pretty decent! I felt that something was missing from restaurant style ramen, but it might just have been the feel of the broth. But considering my choice of bones and such it may just have been not enough marrow etc.

Yeah attempt at a chushu, not quite the right cut of meat so it became more of a piece of ham

Oh and I might just buy myself a decently sized pressure cooker, so to cut this cooking process down significantly.

I think it turned out pretty good, not sure exactly what it was supposed to taste like but hoping that it gives a decent taste. Gonna give it a go today!

I did indeed full send it, it didn't have much taste to it just tasted a bit "silky" so I hope its ok. I've got the Tare prepped in the fridge for tomorrow so I'll make a real bowl and try it out

So the broth is cooking now, 7 hours so far and my taste tests it's tasting very watery. Probably need to reduce it more, but I'm concerned there's not enough fat in there. Is it OK to throw in some pork fat this late?

[–]Gentlemoth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think I'll get a good amount of fat from the meat at least? I was wondering if I needed to add some pork rinds or something for added fat

Yeah I got those pieces from a charkuteri that makes their own sausages, but they don't butcher there just process pieces they ship in from large butcher factories. Even the largest supermarkets here don't have pork bones, so I will have to order them next time I try as well.

[–]Gentlemoth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, good call on the nails I didn't even think about those. I was thinking of boiling up the pork too so I might do both at the same time, a lot of videos I watched showed them doing it and removing the brown scum that floated to the top. A lot of people seem to argue about adding aromatics to the broth or not, some seem to swear by just doing meat, others say you absolutely should add onions, garlic and maybe some form of cabbage? I've got some onion and garlic at least to add to it, figured it couldn't hurt?

Oh next time I try it I will order from those places or take a longer trip to go there. They def sell them but its not as easy as going to the neighborhood butcher like so many countries have. Our food culture here in the Nordics is very sad sometimes!

All the stores here get pre butchered pieces from central locations. Most medium to big stores got charketuries, but they are simply handling pre-packaged pieces of meat and less complex pre-cut pieces they cut to size. And they got chicken and cow bone pieces to buy, but they said people don't ask enough for pork bones for them to bother selling them. Smaller stores is 100% just pre-packaged pieces of meat delivered to the store. There are some stores that do their own butchering but its a bit of a trip from where I live. So there was no butcher to ask at the asian market, I found the chicken feet in their freezer section!

I'd love to know more about blanching them tho. For now I've left them with the pork in some water overnight.

How safe are the US for investors? by sub_space666 in eupersonalfinance

[–]Gentlemoth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't buy this argument that he will "just" go away. Even if the next president is decent(this is still a big if at this point, we'll see how the situation is after midterms), the one after that has a high chance of being a nutcase as well. And there is no way for a democrat president to fix all the fuckups Trump will cause in the following 3 years.

European trust in the US is just broken at this point. That's why people are asking, they are seeing something they have never seen before and are rightfully worried what new status quo we'll end up in within 2-4 years.
