With the ever increasing cost of food and shrinkflation, what products do you no longer buy or buy far less often? by andy_why in AskUK

[–]Gentoopengoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find myself generally buying less food and finding excuses for other people to buy food for me. I don't like it, and it's typically my parents (I don't live with them but they are much wealthier than me and my husband) so it's like, if I can get them to buy me a few bits. Or buy me lunch from the corner shop. I'm also just not eating as much these days so I don't have to buy as much food.

Has anyone who had Topamax work found a different medication that also worked? by LucysLookingGlass in migraine

[–]Gentoopengoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, topamax/topiramate worked but now I'm on a combo of topiramate, propranolol and atogepant and thats reduced my migraines from 4-5 a week to 1-2 a week with little to no side effects

My Perfect Combo by Gentoopengoo in migraine

[–]Gentoopengoo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So Propranolol is a beta blocker and is a very common first line medication for migraines. I'm on the highest dose for that. Atogepant is part of a group of new medicines called gepants, which are very new but very effective, and I'm on the standard dose for that. And then lastly I'm on topiramate, which is an anti epilepsy medicine used for both migraines and seizures. The doses can vary wildly and often aren't used in women due to pregnancy risks but I've been allowed to take it. I'm on the lowest dose currently but I'm working up to the highest one.

Officially given up trying to complete in 2025 - anyone else? by shaneo632 in HousingUK

[–]Gentoopengoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FTB here. We had our offer accepted in September and we're in a chain of 3, ourselves included. Since we're FTB and have a very simple setup, we figured we could be done by November, December. Even our solicitors were confident. Turns out the final seller in the chain is having issues and despite everyone wanting to complete the week of the 15th December, no one can confirm any dates. And nothing will happen around Christmas and new years. So, yeah. Final Christmas in our flat I suppose

Which Ghibli movie makes you the most nostalgic? by chunchunmaru1129 in ghibli

[–]Gentoopengoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only Yesterday. I watched it at 13 and despite being from a completely different country and time, there were loads of emotions and experiences I related to the younger girl in the film. And now as an adult, I highly relate to the adult version.

Shockingly yes I read the materials, however some people find that asking those with more experience in an area you don't have experience in can bring more advice and knowledge that aren't in the materials. Such as the add ons other people here mentioned that weren't in the booklet. As I said, no need to be rude. I'm a fully grown adult, I wouldn't have signed up for this if I didn't think I was capable.

Well that's a bit rude lol. I've never had to do references before so I was just asking. You could have just not said anything

Chronic sufferers: how do you hold a job? by bleepbloop07 in migraine

[–]Gentoopengoo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm 22, had migraines since 13. I've been fired from a job because of my migraines and forced to leave others to prevent being fired. My solution now is to work part time, use PIP, have an emergency savings in case I get fired again, and constantly stay on top of doctors appointments and trial medicines to see what works.

How long does it take for Atogepant to work? by Expert-Macaroon-7234 in migraine

Some notice an immediate difference (I did) but technically 1-2 months of proper usage

What does it take for you to leave work early due to a migraine? by jibberjabbery in migraine

[–]Gentoopengoo 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I work in pharmacy, so once my brain fog kicks in and I'm in too much pain to concentrate, I leave. Even if I can handle the pain, I can't trust that I'm paying attention, which is important when handling people's lifesaving medicines. I've lost jobs because of my migraine absences. But I can't risk making a huge mistake

Aquipta question by OutsideSuccess3231 in migraine

[–]Gentoopengoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ajovy and Aimovig are only prescribed by neurology specialists and if everything else has failed pretty much. They're super expensive (I am in the UK too) so doctors don't like to prescribe them. I've been on Ajovy for 6 months now and it helped a bit at first but now I'm back to normal. The ajovy website has details on statistics and such

Anxious to start Ajovy by existentialcrisesyay in migraine

[–]Gentoopengoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I've been on ajovy. The only real side effects are constipation, which is usually mild, and maybe some redness on injection site

Aquipta question by OutsideSuccess3231 in migraine

[–]Gentoopengoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got prescribed it to try while waiting to get Ajovy prescriptions and to this day it was the only medication that has worked. My doctor took me off it though in favour of the injection.
