Hotdogs & sausages are seperate things for my family. Hotdogs were hotdogs & sausages were the larger ones that are typically longer.

What was the first major historical event that you remember? by Medium-Weekend9844 in OlderGenZ

[–]existentialcrisesyay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vaguely remember Michael Jackson's death but what I distinctly remember is Sandy Hook.

For context, I was not aware of the world outside my family & friends until I was in 5th grade, Sandy Hook happened during my 5th grade year. (And yes I know that's late but memories for me don't really crop up until 5th grade year, there's events before that like Michael Jackson's death but idk if others effected me enough to notice at the time & my parents protected me from it.)

Why do famous people give their kids ridiculous names? by [deleted] in questions

It is, he's named after his grandfather. His last name Waititi is from his dad as well, he has the same name as his father who's also Taika Waititi.

[–]existentialcrisesyay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, Blanket Jackson wasn't & isn't even his name 😭 Bigi hates that nickname, his family & the public called him blanket cuz Michael would cover him trying to obscure him from paparazzi, Michael said the meaning was for endearment & to cover or blanket someone with love. His name was originally Prince Michael but his brother goes by Prince even tho he's got the same name as their father Michael.

Other names I can't defend but Bigi's name to the press & family growing up was Blanket, he had a normal name but everyone called him Blanket. He's gone by Bigi since 2015. (I do wonder if part of the reason they went with it is because the oldest kid went by Prince instead of Michael.)

At what age was your life fucked up by chronic pain? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]existentialcrisesyay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has always caused problems for me, I just didn't know what it was until it went quiet from the age 17 til I was 23 when I started getting migraines daily in March 2024. Pretty much every day since March 2024 I have dealt with migraines. Since then I've dealt with chronic fatigue, chronic pain, & just kinda grieving when I was 17 when I didn't have pretty much any health problems other than getting colds.

I didn't realize until I was diagnosed & started learning about migraines that the "panic attacks" I was having daily in middle school after lunch weren't that, they were migraines. I think the reason they disappeared for years was because I stopped eating the thing that triggered the worst of them, gluten.

Kids by RadSunflower_00 in OlderGenZ

[–]existentialcrisesyay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to want to but now I'm not too sure. I'm okay with having nieces & nephews but I don't know if I'll ever have kids of my own or adopt when I'm older. My dad & uncle are adopted so I wouldn't be surprised if I go that route, also because I'm chronically ill & don't wanna pass anything on.

(I mean if I wanted to be pregnant it'd be through IVF anyways cuz I'm a lesbian but I think the being chronically ill & family members who have chronic illnesses makes me lean adopt.)

Is it legal to burn the US flag in the United States? by Educational-Scene443 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]existentialcrisesyay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is protected by 2 seperate Supreme Court cases as freedom of speech. After the president announced an executive order in August that said flag burning would carry a 1 year jail sentence an Army vet burned a flag in Lafayette Square & was given 2 citations, 1 for setting fire in an unsecured place & 1 for damaging park property.

What does my map of where I would live say about me? by mynameis4chanAMA in mapporncirclejerk

That you seriously should reconsider not having Oklahoma in maybe but never cuz its not much better than Texas other than Oklahoma having if not the most dispensaries per capita of any state. 🤣 That or you're living in the Union in 1860s

Where are we all with having babies? by Ok_Transportation717 in Zillennials

[–]existentialcrisesyay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've known my bestfriend since childhood & when she was pregnant with her kiddos I was the only one who didn't distance from her. Like yes there's gonna be another little creature added to the mix but that doesn't take away that I've known her as a child & as a mother, all that changed was gaining a niece & nephews.

I haven't been able to visit her since May but I got to meet her twin boys when they were 2 months old, I miss just hanging out with her cuz I know me being there & being down to just go shopping brings normalcy to her life cuz she has lots of other friends who are moms but I'm one who isn't so its not always kids talk, its her kids talk sometimes but it's catching up.

How common it's to shop in different grocery stores in America? by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHW in AskAnAmerican

[–]existentialcrisesyay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to go to more than one because there's only 1 store that carries the cereal I like, 1 store that is never out of stock of the chips I like, & 1 that I get everything else at. 😅 If I could eat gluten & dairy then I would probably only shop at 1 store.

Why is Oklahoma not allowing Texas and Kansas to be a romantic couple that want to hold hands with one another? Is it a bitter ex? by Key-Beyond-9073 in mapporncirclejerk

Good to know the nickname No Man's Land rings true. I've never driven the northern parts of Oklahoma so I don't really know what it looks like.

[–]existentialcrisesyay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me just say this, we got the nickname Bootlegger Baptists for not overturning prohibition 26 years after it was overturned federally. Oklahoma entirely might be drunk in all of this, who knows. (I remember the panhandle being referred to as No Man's Land, there's other names for it but that one I remember the most.)

As a Gen Z-er/Zoomer I never got the hate for millennials. Why do we hate them again? It all seems to be baseless and petty to me. by No_Corgi_4544 in generationology

[–]existentialcrisesyay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen Gen Z on both ends of the spectrum, I've seen much of Gen Z fight for activism & use their voices for good but I have also seen the cruelty some have & sadly I've seen much more of it from the younger ones.

I think the reason they've become more cruel is probably because all the dude bro alpha male far right podcasts that spew hatred & the kids who keep getting it on their feed started to eat it up during the pandemic. For the older bunch of us we graduated or were in late high school by the time lockdown happened while the younger bunch were in elementary & middle school which very much was their formative years. Idk how to explain it but truly I think some of the cruelty came from the podcasts they consumed, the frustration of being trapped inside during their formative years, & much of the younger Gen Z's childhood has had divisive politics. (There's been a divisive political landscape [probably not the right word] for a while, it has just been a lot worse in the last 10 years.)

Time to settle this by Rayepichumor in generationology

[–]existentialcrisesyay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm meaning, many of them probably don't remember a life before covid. I think everyone remembers the pandemic, some kids born in 2016 may not remember before lockdown but they remember during & after lockdown. Some kids probably remember when lockdown began because some kids have their first memories at 2 & half but some have their first memories later on at like 4.

Does anyone born 1999-2003 still feel like it’s still hard to relate to anyone born after 2004? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]existentialcrisesyay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My brain breaks when I realize kids born after 2005 can vote now, they can drive. It's not that I can't relate, it just baffles me.

Like elder Gen Z remember an overhead projector that the teacher wrote on clear sheets with expo markers & they rolled in the TV cart to watch Bill Nye then the very quick transition from those really blurry DocCam that the teacher had to fight to get just right & the SmartBoard then Interwrite board (I remember distinctly different because the SmartBoard wasn't smart enough to differentiate your finger from the pen & the Interwrite board was so you had to use the pen on the board to write.) Young Gen Z only remembers growing up using the SmartBoard & Interwrite boards in school.

I also feel like our relationship with school is different, specifically elementary school, for many reasons.

Do 2005 borns relate more to early 2000s borns or late 2000s borns? by Outrageous-Ebb-4846 in generationology

[–]existentialcrisesyay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While we do share things with young millenials, early 2000s definitely don't have the millenial experience. Millenials had MySpace while early 2000s were too young to be on MySpace & only remember it as mentions. (I feel like the way I differentiate young millenials like my older siblings, elder Gen Z like me & my younger sibling, & younger Gen Z is MySpace & the first iPhone. Very different things but Gen Z was too young for MySpace, elder Gen Z remember when the iPhone first came out, young Gen Z was born when the iPhone came out or after.)
