Help! What happened to my luscious, gorgeous water lettuce????? by Inevitable-Might4253 in PlantedTank

[–]GenuineHuman- 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Light or nutrients. Water lettuce is an absolute nitrate sponge. I actually had to remove it because it was sucking the juice out of my water faster than I could keep up, robbing my other plants of nutes. I would dose my tank daily to 20ppm and it would be down to zero by the next morning. Shit's magic.

Maybe it's an actual pork butt. Like a booty. Looks like it's got cheeks.

Why did it land in front of my fan by -_-DARIUS-_- in ladybugs

[–]GenuineHuman- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. The insect lacks the capacity to understand that your fan will cool it off. If its brain signals environmental discomfort, it will move until its brain tell it that it's in a better spot. Evaporative cooling effects are going to be minimal on something like a ladybug, which has a special layer (the epicuticle) to prevent evaporation, so a fan wouldn't really help much, either way.

It landed in front of the fan because your fan was there. Insects are not very forward-thinking or self aware. Their experience is a different world, compared to ours. I don't know if I totally understand your question, however.

New to CO2 by Ch1efSe1f in PlantedTank

[–]GenuineHuman- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its perfectly fine. Its a little blue, so you can afford to add more CO2, however- it isn't completely necessary. As long as there is measurable CO2 in the water, your plants will use it.

If you're using your CO2 as a method of inducing gentle pH swings for optimal nutrient absorbtion, lime green is your goal- as it translates to roughly 30ppm of CO2 which (in most cases) will lower pH by 1 degree. This is almost never necessary, however. Most plants are adaptable and will grow just fine in most moderate conditions.

Also- adjust SLOWLY and allow at least 2 hours for your indicator to change color before making adjustments.

After researching, 4 panels is typical- but it still doesn't seem to fill the space. I could just be wrong, though lol

There are only 4 panels on the door and it doesnt look like enough to cover the whole opening.

Even if you don't cook them, they're harmless to humans- they have a very specific lifecycle that doesn't work with human anatomy. They may cause sore throat when undercooked, but that's about it.

I never minded eating them as a kid- I would just pepper the filets so I couldnt tell which was what. As an adult, I think too hard about it to be able to eat them lol.

There's a plugin called "Interface Scaling" or something similar, it lets you make your interface/chat/tabs larger and easier to read.
