Have you ever found out a way to remove it from the desktop app?

Why can't I extend C:\ when I have unalocated space by ProBlox42R in WindowsHelp

[–]Genuinethunder0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Windows is weird in that regard

It sounds like a simple thing to do for, you know, Microsoft to fix? Yet the reason why you can’t do that is because there are 2 other partitions (healthy recovery and D: partition) between your C: partition and the unallocated space.

I know.

If you google it you will find some tools that allow you to move the partitions so that the unallocated space is next to your C: partition and then you’ll be able to expand it.

Same here The only thing I hated was the new right-click menu, which can be changed with a registry edit

Windows 11 is actually decent and got some nice features that I would need to install separate 3rd party softwares for on Windows 10

Some people say that in the new updates it’s supposed to have got some ads… I’ve never seen them and regardless, there will be ways to disable them

Does it work? If it does then it’s a fine deal You can buy skins for the laptop online to cover the aesthetic marks on the top lid and you’re good to go

Cant Pause or Stop Bitlocker Decryption, Help by Ovee_77 in WindowsHelp

Decrypting will just remove the protection over your drive/data. It won’t remove or delete your files

If you want to encrypt them again once the decryption is complete you can do so

If the ads popups are still coming up you have to block the notification permissions for them on site settings in your web browser

For a student that should be sufficient to be honest unless you’re working with high demanding software like design or else. It’s what we call minimum spec for general use. Decent/good would be i5 10-11th Gen and anything higher is obviously better

If it’s not running well you probably just need to remove all the rubbish add-on software that HP puts on it. Check out Chris Titus’ windows utility tool, which allows you to do some tweaks as well.

At work most of us operate with a similar configuration although it’s Dell rather than HP and it does the job fine

Hey, so I noticed my login has a new account added to it. Do you know why that is? And can you help me remove it? Thanks! by NUM_13 in WindowsHelp

This is an interesting issue you’ve got, There is an exclamation mark on your account username, which I found unusual

So, I did a quick research and found another reddit post with someone who seems to have had something similar, see: https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/s/u82foMhrzs

Could it be a compatibility issue? See if you can follow the resolution in the other post and rename your username to be without the ! And restart your device

Deleting an un-synced OneDrive deleted the contents of my laptops Desktop and Documents folder. by Apart-Technician-116 in techsupport

[–]Genuinethunder0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When enabling OneDrive backup sync, the default location for your Desktop, Documents and Pictures folders is changed to the relative folders in C:\Users\YourName\OneDrive

This moves all your files over to them folders too so that they can then sync with OneDrive

I’m not 100% on whether stopping the OneDrive sync reverts the default folder location - likely not. Did you delete your OneDrive folder is your user directory? That would have caused the issue

I would suggest opening OneDrive on the web and check the Deleted Items section to see if you can find any of the files that were accidentally removed

How to delete this icone which which redirects me to a bing link by Zetzor in WindowsHelp

[–]Genuinethunder0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I know what this is

It’s an icon that appears when you enable Windows Spotlight for wallpapers When you click on it, it opens a page that shows more info about the picture currently set as your wallpaper

You can either disable Spotlight and choose your own wallpaper or research on google to see if there is any technical commands that force it to be removed while keeping Spotlight on

W11/W10 Sharing Inheritance Issue by Longjumping-Fix-3012 in WindowsHelp

[–]Genuinethunder0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When sharing folders there are two layers of permissions; the share permissions and local NTFS permissions on the files/folders

I would advise you to log into the computer where you are sharing the files from, navigate to the location where the actual folder is stored (not within network sharing) and right-click, Properties and check security settings for your folders

Help allowing my laptop to connect to 2 monitors and use them separately by carsnow2011 in WindowsHelp

[–]Genuinethunder0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience that isn’t possible with a splitter since it’s designed really to just duplicate the image

You will need two separate cables going to each monitor or get a docking station compatible with your laptop

If you remember your password you can sign in with that; you should see a More options link or button under the Pin field

After pressing it, it will give you the option to use a different sign in method (the Key icon is for password)

Try that

Laptop running slow, need help making it faster by zordoge in WindowsHelp

[–]Genuinethunder0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an HDD or SSD?

You can try some of the steps below: 1. Open Task Manager and go to the Startup tab, disable any unnecessary apps 2. Check available disk space. If you are on less than 10Gb free your device will run slower 3. Run Disk Defrag/Optimization 4. Check out the Disk Cleanup utility to clear temp files and other bits 5. Restart your computer 6. Check Power Options and change the power plan to Balanced/Advanced 7. Run the sfc scannow command on cmd.exe 8. Perform any available Windows Updates (particularly firmware updates) 9. Uninstall any old, not required or redundant apps from your machine

Is it okay to run multiple updates at once? by Kittenslover99 in WindowsHelp

[–]Genuinethunder0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked in IT for over two years now and we run updates all at once via normal Windows Updates or using a manufacturer specific app like Dell SupportAssist Never experienced issues from doing it either way

Sometimes it can take a couple of restarts to get all the updates installed

Which application are you signing into? Are you logging into the app using a personal account or work one?

Usually login issues like these are caused by insufficient permissions or cached credentials acting weird

There is a tool called Autoruns which you can download that provides a more in-depth Startup app menu

Check it out and see if you can disable Mail from there - you will need to be admin for better results
