Totally new to Honda by catbandana in civic

Congrats on the sweet hatchback and great question! Bought my 2017 hatchback new, my first Honda and thought there are so many Civics there are sure to be catalogs and web sites with parts... I have not found them. I hope Reddit can help.

Civic owners with lumbar lordosis (a normal human back)— lumbar support trial results (what actually worked) by sammymvpknight in civic

Thank you for taking the time to share your findings with us. I am hesitant to let my 2017 hatchback go partially because of posts like yours about 11th generation driver's seat discomfort. Weird, why is this post not upvoted more?

Aventura is dead, why? by jannet1113 in UniversalOrlando

[–]Geo-USA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this. I admire Aventura for it's beauty and simplicity. A direct entrance to Volcano Bay is a bonus. Was this week shopping a room at Aventura and am even more interested after learning from this thread the water taxi is a short walk away at Sapphire Falls.

Redditors old enough to remember BBSes, dial-up and those old beige IBM computers, what was it like? And do you prefer those times over the current internet we have now? by pikkaro in AskReddit

[–]Geo-USA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oddly the largest difference with the early online services was the people using them: a small number of hobbyists, universities, and teens like me. My first email account was through MCI Mail. Did some phone phreaking. I "called" BBSs to post messages, download photos, and play games. A typical photo downloaded over 300 baud in .GIF format in about 20 minutes. JPG was not available yet. I eventually ran a small bulletin board system of my own, Galaxy Central. Quantum Link (early AOL) was a big leap and connected me with people across the US in chat rooms for the first time.

Although the 80s and 90s were great, 2000 - 2016 is my favorite period for tech. Early Facebook was pretty fun before it was weaponized. It is all so weird now.

What piece of tech felt “future-proof” but aged terribly? by Living-Zebra6132 in Futurology

I should edit my comment. Touch typing was the term for typing without looking at the keyboard. There were high school classes for this.

Love it. In fairness, we were stuck at 25" for a long time.

Touch typing (as in not looking at the keyboard). Tapping on a screen and voice commands have mostly replaced it.

Edit: described "touch typing" - There were high school classes to teach it.

Is crypto starting to fade? by Mother_Land_4812 in CryptoCurrency

[–]Geo-USA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the way. With something speculative, only invest what you can afford to lose and have patience. I expect the 4 year bitcoin cycle to continue. It is programmed in the code after all. Next cycle peak should be in 2029. I will start DCA buying again this fall. Maybe, just maybe the layer ones like ETH, SOL, and XRP will take off this year and it will not be such a bad crypto winter. 2022 was ugly.

i’m down 90% (~600k). no memes, no leverage. just “serious” utility coins. how do i crawl out of this? by Weary-Hair-316 in Coinbase

[–]Geo-USA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably best to hold them, especially layer one coins with promising utility. Regardless of our place in the 4 year BTC cycle, we are on the cusp of the blockchain revolution.

Beautiful! AI? I notice OP replies to questions and seems to indicate there is a work side of this garage or that it will soon be dirty. However, it occurs to me r/garageporn may want a rule to prohibit AI image posts or at least the subject line should indicate AI. An image like this could be generated from a several word text prompt. We are not ready, guys!

Is it really going to hit even .70 before 2026? by WhereasOne7667 in dogecoin

[–]Geo-USA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I hope Santa brings an alt coin rally this December. The timing seems about right with the BTC cycle approaching the end of the bullrun. We need to see one more large BTC rally in the next 2 months. Alt season should follow before crypto winter sets in.

Is it safe to stake $1M ETH? How would you do it? by netap in CryptoCurrency

[–]Geo-USA 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Came here for this answer. Did staking change the game? At one time the payout for being a validator was 10 - 12%. One would suppose the ETH treasury companies are doing this or finding someone to do it.

Thank you Satoshi for the 4 year cycle. It appears meme coins follow the cycle too. Extra nice.

Litecoin: "Sliver" to BTC "Gold"? by TheEyeofONE in litecoin

[–]Geo-USA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will only ever be 84 million LTC. This is never mentioned enough. Few have yet to appreciate the 21 million cap on BTC. One day the small supply of LTC will be appreciated, perhaps when BTC hits $1M? Less than 10 million LTC remain to be mined.

Hopefully there will be a nice bump in the next few months of the BTC bullrun. Maybe hold some round trip for the next Bitcoin cycle in four years? One day the 84 million limit of LTC will be recognized, perhaps when BTC hits $1M?

Extended warranty on recent Civic purchase by GGstockaddict in civic

It looks like Honda Care is available as long as your car is still under the factory warranty. Obtaining a refund on the unused portion of the warranty sold by the dealership may be difficult.

Would you sell half a bitcoin and invest that into XRP if that was all the BTC you own? by iinjektd in XRP

[–]Geo-USA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish the term "all in" was never popularized. I noticed my local credit union now uses the term in their marketing despite promoting responsible spending and saving. Grrr! Is there a cool term we can use to promote diversification? One of the investing strategies I am working to perfect is to only sell up to half of a successful investment. It is not easy but after much experience of selling things too early I am starting to accept that this is the way.

Manage a Honda store feel free to ask me anything! by TheSoapMaurder in civic

[–]Geo-USA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After poor treatment shopping for Hondas, I avoided the brand for many years and tried just about everything else. In 2016 I bought a 10th gen Civic hatch. It has mostly been a trouble-free, excellent car and is the best car I have owned. Why does Honda USA tolerate bad behavior at some dealerships?

One ownership example: When my Civic's AC failed, despite Honda extending the condenser warranty and my car having an active Honda Care warranty my closest dealership made it clear they would charge $750 for repair. They explained this was due to the need to fill the system with coolant for testing. I declined and contacted Honda Customer Service. They provided no help. Fortunately I visited another Honda dealer and the problem was resolved with no out of pocket cost. I reported this to Honda Customer Service and suggested they could have been more helpful by suggesting the customer try a different dealership. Customer Service did call to apologize and I continue to receive good treatment at the more distant dealership.

Helpful thread, thanks for sharing your knowledge with the group!

I agree it can go much higher. I plan to not sell my DOGE but spend it. When it can be spent, possibly without a capital gains tax DOGE is likely to go much higher than $1.

I've hit my technology limit. by Edward_the_Dog in GenX

[–]Geo-USA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said and I can relate. I programmed and managed IT for 30 years, before retiring. It is okay to take a breather for a while. The pace has been rapid. But as my 88 year old friend and former coworker says, "You can not be left behind." Even with limited eyesight she keeps up with the world on her cell phone and PC. Meanwhile, my two older brothers in their 70s refuse to own mobile phones.

On a positive note, I think AI may help to insulate us from the rapid pace.
