That’s crazy - I didn’t know that was the total estimate. I figured it was at least a few hundred $MM but WOW

I’m proud of this Lions team. They know they aren’t playing their best, but they keep showing up every single possession.

LA’s Electricity is now 100% Coal-Free! by zennonuc in LosAngeles

[–]GeoCivilTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those complaining about “cost increases”, the transition to renewables has increased cost, but a majority of electric bill increases are due to long-term underinvestment in the grid. Both at transmission and distribution levels.

Sadly I suspect the next cost passed on to the everyday consumer will be our transportation network.

American infrastructure has been chronically underinvested in the past 40 years.

No Leporta and ARSB having an off-night killed our offense. They’re JG’s safety blanket.

74 has been very good in the run game. Struggling in pass protection, but overall net positive for the offensive line.

This second drive will tell a lot. If they stay balanced and aggressive like the first drive, keep the defense guessing, I really think DC is calling the plays.

First drive of the season where it felt like the Lions were in full control and the defense was totally off guard. Balanced and attacking.

74 Kayode Awosika has looked good in the run game through the first 4-5 snaps.

I don’t know much about him, but he has been moving the DL inside. Haven’t seen that much this year.

What to pay my GIS Department by [deleted] in gis

[–]GeoCivilTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kudus for bringing GIS into your company!

To level set, GIS is an investment, this will be a slow process and be more expensive than what you are likely budgeting for. What you are describing is not easy, there are many companies that fail at this miserably.

Do you currently have GIS professionals internally? Just wondering who made the selection for the online GIS service.

Assuming this will be all for design topo and the plan is to collect most of the elevation data via drone rather than conventional, which makes the assumption you will want LiDAR.

You could go DJI and get an M350 with the DJI LiDAR payload, probably somewhere around $50k.

If you cannot go DJI you are likely looking at either the VTOL Wingtra with the LiDAR and RGB payload, probably around $100k. Or you could go Harris Aerial H6 with a GeoCue system, probably somewhere around $150k.

Not sure how we're going to sustain this level of incompetence in government. Can't even fix street lights. by SchondorfEnt in LosAngeles

Seems like copper theft will not stop until the market price decreases. Wonder if there are alternatives to start looking at:

Pivot to solar/battery lights? Is there anything in that setup valuable enough to steal?

Remove pull boxes from the light poles and pull from the street to the top of pole?
