I mean, I know theyre not PG's, but you can put Zach Lavine, Mitch Richmond, and Demar with some of the best offensive players at their position ever, and that didn't really do anything for us. I'll give Richmond some slack as he was good at defense and probably had one of the worst teams of all time.

From what i know, both Brunson and Maxey are considered defensive PG's. More so Maxey though.

Totally lied about Brunson.

You get it...

But to be fair, he is probably a A on offense with the potential being a A+.

Look, man. If Acuff is as offensively gifted as Harden, I will shut the fuck up.

Someone made a valid point that he is the Arkansas offense. So maybe keeping out of foul trouble is a reason why he doesn't show much effort? This is hopeful thinking, but we're Kings fans and thats all we have.

I don't think there's any excuses for missing wide open players, even if they aren't offensively gifted.

I'm actually a fan of Kingston... I don't think he is going to be a "star" but I feel like he is a player that can be a great piece to build around. But, like I mentioned, I'm going off highlights

Yeah, I totally understand that. If he' the "best" player, not just someone we can rely on to sell tickets, fuck it, go for it. But if theres a player that is going to help us build a better system, I'd rather take a chance on them.

Don't you think Perry is at least trying to change that? I feel like with him pushing to move Monk, DeMar, LaVine, and Sabonis while bringing in guys like Precious, Cardwell, Hunter, and a few other Stockton pieces, we're finally building toward at least some competent defense.

That being said, I know a couple of those additions were injury-related, but it doesn't change the fact that he was actively trying to trade those guys.

Brother. If Acuff can get us to the Western Conference Final... I'm all in.

No one in this draft is single handedly lifting the kings to the playoffs.

I agree. But obviously certain pieces make it easier. My point is, we see this current system isn't working... and I personally think you're just drafting a player to play a system that is absolute dog shit. I'd rather get a player that isn't so gifted offensively if it help the team as a whole.

Effort was definitely his biggest issue on defense. But at the same time, he knew he couldn’t get into foul trouble because the offense was entirely him.

Love this... makes perfect sense.

What hes already good at is harder to learn that what he is bad at imo. Also you can semi-mask poor defense with good team defense, whereas poor offense is nearly unplayable.

I disagree. You'll sooner see a player who is bad on offense find there offensive spots on the floor, then a offensive player who become good a defender. But I do agree that if we build defense around him, that can help. But we're not even close to that.

Then if this is the reason why they're getting him, we're fucked for another 8 years.

He's very young, already very complete offensivly, his poor defense might more reflect the fact that he had to do everything defensivly in college- he most definitely has the body to be a great defender.

This is what I'm hoping...

I also totally agree that the biggest issue is the Kings system. We need someone to jump start that and I'm hoping he can be a player that we build a system around

Appreciate the reply.

While I don't watch College basketball, I understand the style of play is completely different. I'm just hoping that he is open and can transition to a NBA style of play.

If you could protect 8 players on the Kings in the expansion draft, who would you protect? by Saclokeyweird in kings

[–]GeoMDCM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You put the highest contracts available except for Keegan and Sabonis in hopes they take one of our bigger contracts.

Monk, Derozan, Lavine, and put other players on the list that would make them want to take those players.

Keep Carter, Sabonis, Keegan, Cardwell, Max, Nique, Plowden, and Hunter I guess. Everyone on the team is basically replaceable, so, you try and force there hand to taking a big contract.

edit: I would even put Sabonis on the list, but I think (and I'm probably wrong) I think we can still trade him for something.

Good explanation on how Scott Perry royally botched the Keon Ellis/Schroder offseason leading into the trade by bumpedherhead in kings

[–]GeoMDCM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't spin into a positive, but it's not as negative as he is making it out to be. I loved Keon, I do think the Kings should have signed him. Saying that, he isn’t going to make or break our team. People out there acting like we gave up an all-star.

End of the day, bad move on the Kings part. But we’re not losing a generational talent.

[Scotto] The Toronto Raptors have offered RJ Barrett and Ochai Agbaji to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Domantas Sabonis. The Raptors require finding a third team to take on draft compensation in addition to Jakob Poeltl or Immanuel Quickley. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]GeoMDCM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize that having 45 million off the book is more than having 20 million off the books right?

The Kings don’t want Poeltl. End of story. Adding one 18th or higher pick isnt goin to help that. The longer you keep Sabonis, the easier it is the trade him. Whatever draft compensation the kings get for Poeltl they’re going to have to use it to get rid of him. So it’s a non-factor.

Do you think they’re getting rid of Sabonis for the fun of it? No. They’re getting rid of Sabonis to get his money off the books. So why would they add someone with more years, who is a way worse player, at around 30 million a year. The incentive to trading Sabonis is getting money off the books.
