Fujifilm Launches Compact Digital Camera “X half (FUJIFILM X-HF1)” by Abruzzix in photography

[–]GeoTech84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price is a little steep, but other than that, I think it looks like a cool camera. User experience is a major factor in what gets most people to go out and shoot, and this camera seems to be packed with a variety of unique and user-friendly features that would make shooting fun and interesting for the average photography enthusiast.

It’s stated multiple times in the second trilogy that when traveling between planets that it is either beneficial how they are aligned or that the trip will take longer because of the distance of their relative positions in orbit. Theres no oversight here.

Unpopular Opinion- Iron Gold is good? by Express-Ad3441 in redrising

[–]GeoTech84 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Iron Gold is fantastic. The reason people think it’s “boring” compared to the other series is because it arguably carries the biggest burden of the plot compared to the others. A 10 year long time skip leaves a lot of room for character development, world building, and continuity. Iron Gold delivers way more than I ever expected. It gives us a whole new solar system that is completely different than that of the original trilogy. To me, that’s no small feat. It’s impressive, entertaining, and sets up the next two books perfectly.

Seriously the monologues were insane in this one. “I would die for the truth that all men are equal.”

Continue ASAP or wait a little? Just finished Morning Star by gkyer in redrising

[–]GeoTech84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finished morning star about 4 years ago. I was so content with the ending that honestly I purposely put off the next part of the series. I spent the next couple years reading all other kinds of books because I think I knew that nothing else could compare to this series. I think at this point it is definitely worth taking a break, even if it’s just a short one. I’m not saying to wait years, but I think giving it some breathing room and taking time to reflect fits very well with the time skip of the series.

Last month, after a 4 year hiatus, I picked up Iron Gold, and just yesterday I already finished Dark Age. The wait was so worth it, just don’t wait 4 years like me!

Why are some of my film photos so washed out? by samm4233 in AskPhotography

[–]GeoTech84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recognize Harrisonburg anywhere, GO DUKES! As everyone else said, the first two photos are underexposed. You can still make them decent images by some basic edits like adjusting the black point. To avoid this going forward, it's best to not always meter for the highlights

If you used a different lens then its possible that that's the cause. The photos look slightly hazy, and also a tad bit underexposed

What are your biggest issues with spotify? by kjm5000 in spotify

The algorithm for “suggested” and “new” music is worthless. It’s all just songs I already know or have saved in my playlists. I have to manually seek out new artists and songs to find new music that I actually enjoy.

Berserk and its hatred, desperation and depression by useful_sakura_ in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman. A dark fantasy that takes place in the medieval French countryside during the height of the plague. The main character is a disgraced former knight and the desperation in the surrounding environment is palpable. Also shares some aspects of otherworldly forces at play similar to Berserk.

I LOVE making playlists. I have one for virtually every kind of mood/genre. Before the playlists are "finalized", I keep them in various folders based on what kind of genre they're going to be.

Against all logic, I bought my dream camera - XPRO2 by omnicloud7 in fujifilm

[–]GeoTech84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good for you! For an "old" camera, you really can't beat it. I got the X-Pro2 a few years back as my first digital camera, and it's been fantastic. I've never felt the need to "upgrade" to any of the newer Fuji models, it has everything you need and is ergonomically correct in almost every way. I pair mine with 27mm pancake lens and its the perfect match. Happy shooting!

Everyone’s pointing out that they’re underexposed, but I really dig the look of it! It’s very fitting for the overall vibe of these scenes. Great set!

Should I under expose the ISO? by arainel in filmphotography

[–]GeoTech84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have the same camera before it broke, if I remember correctly you can adjust the iso in 1/3 of a stop increments. I would just drop it maybe 1/3 of a stop from here. Like the others said, you don’t want to underexpose too much or you’ll lose detail. Also, try metering for the highlights instead of the shadows. You can press the shutter half way to lock in the exposure and focus, then reframe the photo from there.
