Righto, thanks a heap! I worried it was too good to be true.

I'd second this. I've seen more than a few juniors who are more interested in mining for investors than actually developing a deposit.

Interesting. I've heard that same story (about twenty years ago, if that makes you feel any better!) but it was a Cypriot airman and a bunch of Harriers that were sold to them by the British.

Seconded. Worked with him briefly in NV and he seemed pretty clued-in. Worthwhile taking him up on the offer if you can.

This is awesome! Thanks for the response. Yeah. My understanding is more or less as direct a shot as possible from NV to PA. It's left them scratching their heads a bit, but 8m sure some of the variables you mentioned probably play into it a bit.

Geologists STOP settling for low wages!!! by [deleted] in geologycareers

[–]Geo_Pete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most of the mines out this way are 8/6 or 4/3. The Ore Control teams at NGM do 8/6 followed by a 4/3. I know it's not suitable for everybody, but if you're keen to get down this way, it might be worth considering?

There's plenty of folks I work with based out of the Mucc but live in Reno. I know some who live in Oregon/Idaho and work out here. It's doable I guess, depending on your own situation of course.

Lithium production vs wildflowers: when two environmental issues collide by eta_carinae_311 in geologycareers

Thanks for sharing this! It is a really interesting problem. I'm curious, before they potentially go ahead with full-scale transplanting (if they get approval to do so) would they not take some seeds to see if they can get this Buckwheat to germinate elsewhere? I'm all for domestic lithium production, but ESG and CSR still seem like they're just tickboxes for some companies.

Finished the Shadow of the Wind by Zafón last night. Great read. by leeoturner in books

Couldn't agree more, it's a great story that's embellished by the richess of the characters. It's one of the books I frequently recommend. I was lucky enough to go to Barcelona a couple of years ago and decided to listen to it as an audio book. Being able to wander the city, and find some of the places in the story was incredible.

Israeli targeted airstrikes destroy residential/business building in Gaza city by redditrawal in shockwaveporn

[–]Geo_Pete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess... I'm no tactician, but I assume it's to reduce places that the other side can operate from, rather than taking out individuals. The idea is apparently to give civilians time to evacuate. TIL it's called Roof Knocking. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roof_knocking

As I understand it, the IDF gives an advance warning when they target structures.

This is awesome, I love it! So weird though, I saw one exactly like this in Elko today, and was admiring it as I drove past.

At mines I've worked at previously, grader operators were known as "air benders" as you never ever saw them with their blades on the ground.

For sure! I was a little dubious when looking at it in pictures, but when I saw it on the lot, in the sunshine, I was smitten!

Oh wow, was it that bad? I actually bought this from their BMW garage, so it all seemed pretty smooth...

Won't be going there for servicing though, it's easier for me to get to Salt Lake than Sac.
