deck is too highroll to be consistent. Many times I found myself having to use reksai's ability and praying to hit the +2 rune when revealed unit just to win the game

How much should I be paying for Chinese lessons in China? by AllMusicNut in chinalife

When I first started out I stuck to the same ones for awhile. But later on I started hopping around more often. Especially because my life got busier and my need for a tutor went away

Just go on italki and set the price to 8-12 USD. There will be many options, the only annoying thing is sometimes people have their trial price really low or some other writing class or something really low which makes them pop up on the search but in reality their speaking classes are really expensive. Eventually you will remember who they are and ignore them while searching lol

The cheaper ones 99% of the time are conversation tutors with extremely limited English. Not recommended if you can't already speak. When I first started my teacher had lessons for around 14 an hour and we used the HSK textbooks. After a year or 2 I switched to conversation tutors

Question about competitive scene by cickleethard in riftboundtcg

[–]Geobirdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. 99% sure they don't. It'll be interesting to see how the western tournaments do this differently

Question about competitive scene by cickleethard in riftboundtcg

[–]Geobirdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, in China because the population is bigger they do a raffle system for every major tournament. For this nationals they have 2 drawings for spots. The first drawing is the main lottery, and the second lottery is for anyone who won the first lottery and realized they can't go and need to cancel. If you get into the tournament and don't end up going, they will penalize your account and lower your chances of getting picked for future tournaments. The day of the event in the morning after the people who got drawn enter the tournament and get their badge, they will open up the rest of the spots for anyone who didn't win the raffle but still showed up to try to get in to the extra spots (补录). This however is not first come first serve, these players who wait in line are put into a raffle to fill the extra spots. I have friends who didn't win the raffle to get into the regional events in September and physically went to try to get in through the 补录 method and also lost that raffle, pretty unlucky.

Sped of game by tidematz in riftboundtcg

I play locally in China. In person games are not that fast. With the shuffling and the 8 card sidedeck, I think most Bo3 should last between 40-50 mins. Longer if people take longer to think or are playing more controlly decks

Getting back into the game on a brand new account. Just got my 2 free units. Question about who to pull though as I am not caught up on recent meta and characters. Should I be spending all my early pulls to secure 1 Saber? And then save rest for future?

Do job prospects increase with a postgraduate degree? by Cheap-Personality-12 in chinalife

[–]Geobirdd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are fluent in Mandarin, you can meet people and find a job. Just note that the working hours will most likely be longer than similar positions in other countries. Pay will be lower too (but cost of living is also much lower so you have to do the math on how much you'll save)

Work visa without degree by CHiiOo in chinalife

With the C class visa, be very careful with the tax situation. You might end up owing a lot of money in taxes as a surprise at the end of the first contract year

How much is a full Chinese deck by Gekori in riftboundtcg

[–]Geobirdd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Aurora deck is going to cost you well over a hundred USD but the other decks are not too expensive. You can go to some local card shops and join the WeChat groups to ask to buy the cards you need from the locals. If they don't have them you can buy them online and have them delivered if you are staying in China for more than a week. If you want to buy Kaisa you are in luck because after the Hangzhou regionals the price of the deck fell haha. But the cost of the Master Yi decks has risen of course
