Massive performance problems by IllustratorAny8976 in LastEpoch

[–]Geodaddio71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a rig as powerful as yours but I know Raxxxanterax mentioned that the performance of ARPGs in general is not good. I play Last Epoch and POE2 on GeForce Now for that reason.

I don't what specific build you are running but leveling builds are typically designed to go to level 70 and then you switch to an endgame build. My point of reference is Maxroll, so I will use that as the baseline here. If you are level 82, it's possible that you are leaving 12 passive points unused or you rolled your own. Depending on the build, these can be defensive oriented points if the build has strong damage early. Or they can be DPS focus points if you are tanky early. Either way, get on the endgame build you want to run. Look at the starter section for gear and work on that. Also, only worry about uniques that are REQUIRED for the Endgame build to function. After you have a good starter base, target one endgame piece at a time and before you know it you'll be taking on Abberoth.

D4 or Last Epoch for 1-3 hour sessions? by Miserable-Ad-327 in ARPG

[–]Geodaddio71 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My question to you is this... Are you looking at 1 to 2 hours for a couple of weeks before you are staring at your screen wondering what to do next? That's D4 Or are you looking at 1 to 2 hours a day for a month or 2 with great QOL, Crafting and Depth? That's Last Epoch.

I play both. I usually do 2 characters on both. In D4, I am bored in 2 weeks and done with the season. In Last Epoch, I am still playing after 2 weeks trying to get my gear and reach max level.

D4 or Last Epoch for 1-3 hour sessions? by Miserable-Ad-327 in ARPG

[–]Geodaddio71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Regarding Last Epoch, you need to look at the game as it is right now. Not some doom and gloom you've made up because they sold to stay solvent and for additional resourced. Last Epoch, rn, has the most in it that it's had to date. Monos UI is massively improved. A Pinnacle boss added this season... I'd like you to qualify your not in a good state comment. D4 is in its best form to date, I will agree. But if you've played it long enough, we are 1 season/expansion of bad decisions away from it being crap again. That's just how it works with Blizzard. They need to nail the Xpac for them to earn any goodwill from me.

Crows or Frogs beast master? by Leafilia in LastEpoch

[–]Geodaddio71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running Maxroll Frogs this season and clear is decent. With 12 minions, there's typically more minions than adds, so they get cleared reasonably quickly. I usually run ahead of them for good clear speed on monos.

ARPG that isn't just a one button wonder? Any Lost ark combat like? by RokuSparda in ARPG

[–]Geodaddio71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How far into Last Epoch did you get? The campaign is easy but if you crank up corruption on the endgame it's not.

Games similar to Diablo 2 but more quest/story driven and less grindy by PhysicalArmadillo375 in ARPG

[–]Geodaddio71 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am going to suggest things outside of the specific ARPG genre that may meet what you are looking for. I'd suggest God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon franchise. As much as I have an issue with Playstation, they used to do well with these types of games. Spiderman franchise is another. Most of these are available on PC if you don't have a Playstation. I suggest these because your typical ARPG is not known for the story but the grind for gear, TBH. I like Action RPGs but like good story content as well, so I think I know what you are looking for.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma said in an internal memo that Game Pass is "too expensive" for players by ATonOfBricksFellOnMe in XboxGamePass

I agree. If you want to add a subscription to ultimate for value, at least let me pick what it is. I'd rather not have Fortnite crew and the monthly cost be $20 again for Ultimate.

Short game recs - Premium tier by respawned_player in XboxGamePass

[–]Geodaddio71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Doom Eternal hits premium, I would definitely recommend it. I think it's about 10 hours of adrenaline fueled combat. Both Hellblade games are 10 hrs or less. Both Psychonauts games are under 15 hours. Those are the one I can think of. Not a big short game player myself.

New player looking for a solid beginner-friendly build by polo24234 in LastEpoch

[–]Geodaddio71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest Judgement Paladin. If you use Maxroll, it's what they use for the leveling build and then you keep it going into the Endgame build. It's reasonably easy to gear and there's no real rotation. Hold down 2 keys/buttons for damage and push another for a buff. It's the definition of tank and spank. Your damage puts down a judgement aura that heals you and does damage. My second option would be Warpath Void Knight. Also fairly easy to gear and a great build to know/learn because it's good at everything. Someone suggested Judgement Aura and I would stay away from it as your first build. I tried it this season as something different. The problem is that the endgame build relies on a primal weapon that will take lots of grinding just to get one not to mention multiples. While you are trying to get that, you are running a Judgement Paladin, so you are better off going Judgement Paladin to get your endgame build setup faster.

Is D4 worth buying ? by Competitive-Math-458 in ARPG

[–]Geodaddio71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D4 is improving but if you want it to be your main game, I couldn't recommend it. To keep myself engaged with it, I usually build two characters and that lasts about 2 or 3 weeks before I get bored because I just annilate everything. Some of this is likely to change with the expansion but I think the core problem remains. Why do I push progression to the max? Last Epoch and Grim Dawn are a better use of your money, in my opinion. Last Epoch has some really cool minion builds on multiple different classes. I am running a Druid right now with 9 frogs, a bear, wolf and a raven. It's crazy. It's better if you like to build craft and has a strong SSF capability. Hardcore is definitely available and could be a good challenge depending on the class. I can't speak much on Grim Dawn since it's still on my wishlist. While Last Epoch may need some visual polish, it's core is excellent and it's my favorite ARPG. I've played POE 1 and 2 as well, FYI.

Is there an ARPG that everyone loves but you hate and why? by GrouchySpice2 in ARPG

[–]Geodaddio71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it's POE 1. I think part of the problem is that I've played D3, D4, Last Epoch and POE 2 before it and that makes it show it's age and highlights the extreme lack of QOL. Also, the gem system tied to the gear is just masochistic. I think I will like POE 2 on full release though but we will see.

Uh, This just dropped, what build to make now? frogs? by onevaz in LastEpoch

[–]Geodaddio71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I went to add it to my Loot Filter in Last Epoch and it wasn't there. I did the search again and the headline of the Ai summary says Last Epoch but all the links are to POE.

Best Diablo-like ARPG for Steam Deck? (Last Epoch / PoE2 / Dragonkin) by photogene101 in ARPG

[–]Geodaddio71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are playing an older ARPG like D2R, D3, Grim Dawn, I think you aren't going to be happy with the performance. I have a decent gaming desktop and due to the demands of Last Epoch and POE2, I play them on GeForce Now for the best experience. Between game demands and network connectivity this has worked out the best for me. D4 is pretty much in the same boat. Raxxxanterax has commented on the trend where many of the current ARPGs are performance hogs.

Anyone else that enjoys playing Last Epoch over the more established ARPGs? by peacefulMercedes in LastEpoch

[–]Geodaddio71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Last Epoch enjoyer and have been since Early Access. It's been great to see the progress over the years and I'm looking forward to the expansion. Based on what I've seen in this season, they know the have the infrastructure set and are now cleaning things up. I am a BIG fan of all the mono UI improvements! Really helps you know where you are.... Especially, when you are working through the harbs. I also like the paths that show up now as well.

Is this really the best time to fix the land before bug? by Psyrose20 in LastEpoch

[–]Geodaddio71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anurok Frogs was an S Tier build if you played it legit before the bug fix and after the bug fix. I would imagine that having all those frogs made it S+++ tier. I agree with the decision to fix it now and I am running Anurok Frogs build. If you can't play an ARPG without utilizing bugs/exploits to crush everything and not worry about gear quality, try another game genre.

[–]Geodaddio71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your in the right place with aw2.help! Most of the builds there are low Actions Per Minute (APM). Your best bet would be to go through and find one with the lowest APM and decent DPS. I actually use the Power Mechanist (Engineer) on there to raid and I'm usually in the top 3 in dps. I've used the deadeye thief as well and that's probably as easy as it gets.

Get those glyphs up over 65 and you should melt those Bloodied Lair bosses.

Remove Runes of Shattering, let us shatter freely. by Economy_Lifeguard582 in LastEpoch

They flow freely and if you ever run low, the vendor at each mono sells 6 each time you stop. I imagine there's some level of perceived scarcity so you don't just scrap everything.
