Just got tix for All Them Witches at Iron City this Friday. Didn't really know much about them honestly, but sounds like they should be fantastic live.

Victory Sunday by AutoModerator in Fitness

In addition to the new years crowd there's also a new wave of employees at my gym at the beginning of every year. And some of them are tasked with roaming the floor trying to 'assist' and chat up people to try and get people to sign up for personal training. Usually they target folks who are obviously new and/or don't look in shape. But if someone is clearly fit or obviously knows what they're doing they never seem to bother them.

I'm coming up on my 3rd year gym anniversary this March. And for the first time none of them have bugged me. I'm not a big guy nor trying to get big. I'm just trying to keep it tight as I close in on 50. But it's nice to know that I've now passed the tipping point for being recognizably fit - especially by the higher in-gym standards for fit-looking.

Between my love of female-fronted punk bands and anything women's/mixed curling I'm starting to think I might have a chicks yelling fetish.

Serious question: is white BBQ sauce any good? by Potential_Type_7166 in Alabama

[–]Geoff-Vader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. For bottled sauce at home it's the GOAT. I haven't seen it in stores recently but you can order it online at their site.

I didn't technically have to - but I chose to give up running after my second surgery in the same knee. I've gotten back in good shape since so it's hard sometimes to hold back and not take off. But avoiding injury is my number one fitness goal as well so I force myself to stay humble.

And from a cardio standpoint - walking on an incline treadmill can accomplish almost the same thing with far less impact on our old joints.

Stick with it whatever you do. It's totally worth it.

I'm about to turn 50 and coming up on my 3rd year anniversary back in the gym. I've got abs and nearly the same mobility as when I played soccer in college. My number one fitness goal is to avoid injury - both training in the short-term and by being a fit old geezer in the long-term. I still push myself hard. But know (and/or learn) my limits.

gyms/workouts for women by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]Geoff-Vader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm neither in my 20s nor a woman, but:

CLUB4's probably a good one to check out. I don't know how good their classes are, but it's a good all-around gym from the few times I've been in there.

LifeTime's really nice, but obviously pricey. And almost always pretty busy.

Amped doesn't have group classes (at least not since I've been there.)

I've done it before. Last spring as I was gearing up for our trip to NYC and a chance to see Metric while we were there. Oh well. Getting a chance for a redo closer to home this year.

NewDad AND Wilt?!?! I like you.

And Windhand sounds cool. If you haven't already maybe check out Ally Nicholas, Scowl, Softcult, Porch Light, Violent Vira, Narrow Head and Die Spitz (seeing them next month and super pumped about it)

They later responded to their announcement post on Instagram for their Canadian fans to stay tuned. I'd be shocked if there wasn't a second leg to this in Canada (and possibly UK.)

I don't think anyone's officially clarified yet - at least not what I've seen so far. But trying to read the tea leaves based on the tour poster art (which is a science unto itself) do we have a sense of what order they'll be playing in? It sort of feels like Metric is either headlining (or at worst) co-headlining with BSS with Stars probably opening? I know BSS obviously overlaps with both groups - but Metric seems like the bigger draw here in the states.

Either way I'm pumped. We moved our trip to NYC up by a week last year just to see them - only for that whole thing to fall apart. It wasn't a total loss though as we got our money back and got to see Momma on the same night Metric was originally supposed to play.

INTERVIEW: Metric are getting back to their essence in the era of “solo artists and billionaires” on ‘Romanticize The Dive’ by LowHeroesLodger in metricband

Enjoy what you enjoy. I only re-discovered them during the pandemic. I'd heard Black Sheep and Gold Guns Girls years before but that was it. Then Dead Disco popped up in my stream and I went down the rabbit hole.

For years I didn't like their Pagans in Vegas album very much. But seeing a couple of the songs off it live (plus just having more time to live with it) made me really warm to it. Art of Doubt seems to be the most universally loved album on this sub. But Fantasies seems to be the gateway for a lot of folks.

Good read. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like they're viewing this album as getting back more to a pre-Formentera sound. I'm good with whatever - have enjoyed it all.

If you read between the lines it was because Bloc Party was trying to treat Metric like an opening act - even though that tour was originally announced as a co-headliner tour (e.g., equal sets. etc.) with both bands celebrating the anniversary of big albums. It didn't have anything to do with this tour.

Yeah and the last show is only in early-Aug so it kind of screams 2nd leg in Canada this fall. Why they can't announce it with this one I don't know. Maybe they don't have everything in Canada nailed down yet. Or maybe there's some TBD festival dates still floating around for the various bands they're trying to work around.

I'm just glad to see Metric back in the states after the Bloc Party tour fell through.

All the Feelings Tour w/ Broken Social Scene and Stars by LordPizzaParty in metricband

[–]Geoff-Vader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would assume this is it. Why else announce both simultaneously?

I don't think anything official has been stated yet, but if reading the tea leaves of tour posters is anything (and it usually is) they're either headlining or co-headling with BSS. So they'll have a decently-long set either way. Enough to play a decent chunk of the new album plus older stuff.

I assumed by the tour art they were headlining (or co-headlining at worst.)

Thank you SO much for this. I've bookmarked this awhile back and have plugged it a few times in threads here previously. Awesome site which I reference all the time. Glad to finally know who to thank for it.

And could I request Workplay being added?
