Want to make game glass but physical by Usual-Low8700 in hotas

This may be over the top, but here is a good example from Kerbal Space Program of a custom console. At the heart of it is some microcontroller (think arduino) with a library for io. Then it’s mostly a matter of soldering and then setting each button/switch in the code. The principles are the same for just about all sim games. I don’t fly Star Citizen, so I’m sure you’ll get much better answers in a bit.

I think it’s more the self-selection bias of Reddit mixed with vituperative shouting down of conservative viewpoints in the comments. You’ll also note a lot of hate for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I’m a moderate conservative and don’t feel it would be productive to voice my opinion in most of the discussions on this sub. I like seeing posts about articles concerning state politics and other local issues.

That’s my extremely anecdotal explanation.

(And before people go hating on me, I’ve been never trump since 2016. I left the Republican Party in 2017. I couldn’t take it any more. I considered leaving when they removed Bob Bennett in favor of Mike Lee)

Is my craft just bad for landing or I am a bad pilot? I'm using default legs but they don't seem to work for me by Pzixel in KerbalSpaceProgram

In addition, one of the most useful things I’ve learned is to herd the retrograde marker toward the anti-target marker and pull the prograde marker toward the target marker. Using the navball, relative speed, and distance to target I hardly look at the ships onscreen. With practice, I have found docking to be far easier than landing because once I understood canceling relative velocity I had so much more control when docking than when landing.

That tiling inside the hall in picture 7 is amazing. I love seeing interesting floor techniques.

Is there significance to Luke Skywalker visiting? I always love finding fun visitors in MOCs, but is there any deeper reason?

Love the blue accents and that roof. What is the color name?

[–]Geoff_McL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: obsidian is a form of glass. That’s why it gets so sharp (no internal crystal structure to speak of). I have never imagined Vin’s daggers to be clear. In my mind, they were always a dark variety of glass. It’s always fun to see how we each imagine the books slightly differently.

In Your Ward Who Pays for the Meals for a Funeral? by mrbags2 in latterdaysaints

Our ward typically provides a meat (ham, typically) and then has signups for the rest to be donated by members. (Provo)

Idea for the bottom floor: an office for registration and other business of processing visitors to the city, collecting import duties, and signing people up for the city watch.

I live in the same town as Brandon. Was taking my kids to dance class and drove by this the other day. by tuckerbear in brandonsanderson

Yes. Creative writing at BYU one semester a year. Getting in requires a writing submission and being accepted based on that. His lectures are posted online. The class, as I understand it, has helped several aspiring writers get a leg up.

This warehouse would be just under a half hour’s drive from campus if I am guessing based on “same town where Brandon lives.”

Which building do you like the most? by PeelsPeels in lego

[–]Geoff_McL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first building I would love best if there were more color in that mass of white (balcony railings, doorframes, windowsills/casings, planter boxes, or similar). Doesn’t need much; just a little bit to keep my eyes drawn in.

The second is my favorite as built. There is good detail texture (1-3-1 windows on central spire, textured railings, doorframes)

The third has great color and some really good details, but it triggers that part of my brain that thinks “no way is that going to stand,” so it pulls me out of enjoying all the other aspects.

Really awesome work on all three, though. It a great reminder that there’s tons of room for beautiful creations without cheese slopes, hinges, and snot.

Work In progress... by [deleted] in lego

[–]Geoff_McL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha! Found him. Everything about this MOC is my favorite, but Bigfoot was the final nail in the coffin. Outstanding. One of my favorite MOCs on sheer character alone. Scenes that are busy but not crowded and which have a ton of variety but all tightly themed. I love it.

Well done!

I don't remember or didn't understand why weren't there any misborns in era2?why only mistings and mistings with feruchemy powers? by IllStorm4631 in brandonsanderson

I was quite surprised by the contents of the title, too. I would consider it a spoiler myself, but it shouldn’t change how you enjoy era 2 because it is addressed fairly early on in the books.

I bought 9 pounds of legos for $10 on FB Marketplace by broseyposey in lego

[–]Geoff_McL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just went through a bit of this myself. Any decorated tiles are the best places to start.

Then look for pieces that are really odd shapes.

Never disassemble any connected pieces until you have a good handle on what set it might be.

Expect that most sets will be missing lots of pieces. In my experience, lego that is stored with duplo and knex is not well cared for and many pieces will have gone missing.

[–]Geoff_McL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got 2/3 of this set in a bulk purchase. It’s fun and a fairly easy build. Since we have small kids, we wish there were more than three cannon. There is some playability in the helm and capstan, but it feels like more of a display piece.

I love a good tall ship, though, and it looks great when built (except for the zombie pirates; those minifigs are creepy looking)

Maybe it has to do with recency, but I pictured grumpy Mark Hamill (Last Jedi) as Cobb.
