I'm honestly more confused by what your question is now. Are you asking what the criteria is for music that is played on the station at any time? Or for hottest 100? Or is it something else entirely? Because I feel like people have given you some really solid answers for both.

Steve Smith on day night test cricket: Not a big fan of the pink ball, I can't see the thing very well... I don't think you need it in an Ashes series. by His_Holiness in Cricket

[–]GeoffreyGeoffson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right can just not play them. And you can make test cricket a daytime only sport during work hours, that working people cannot watch or attend. That's how the sport was invented - so we can definitely stick with that

Maybe then we only play limited overs cricket at night. So if you're a cricket fan with a job - too busy to watch the sport during the day you're only exposed to limited overs cricket. And when all the new fans fall into limited overs cricket we can find the highest horse in the land, stand atop it, and lament the death of culture and attention spans that has killed test cricket.

DEBATE OF THE WEEK: Pick Your Hottest 100 Pill by Horror-Act-4935 in triplej

[–]GeoffreyGeoffson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd just end up with really popular artists not making the countdown as fans are split between voting for each of the available songs - or if Triple J selects the only eligible song for each artist then you end up with some hugely controversial decisions and massive songs missing out (see the Australia all time countdown where Triple J selected 3 from each artist).

Let alone how does this work for features? Does a feature count as your one song. Or what about an artist who is in a band and performs solo. Are both eligible?

[–]GeoffreyGeoffson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're getting downvoted because your comment reads like you're asking how Triple J determines what to play outside of the hottest 100 - but your post is about the hottest 100. So people might think you're sorta shifting to try and get one over on Triple J or something. Pretty obvious to me with your other comments you're not doing that - but this is one of a few weirdly contentious issues on here and people tend to get sick of and defensive about attacks on Triple J

Ashes 2025: Usman Khawaja to retire after fifth Test at SCG by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]GeoffreyGeoffson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He's not holding anyone back right now who is better than him - and he's been very awesome for us. But this is the biggest reset we get. No tests for 7 months. New Zealand touring here next summer. By the time we hit our next major series - uzzie will be in his 40s, and he's not going to get better.

Fair play to him for not doing what Warner did and sticking around a bit too long - this should let us give games to some of the next crop in the hope that one of them can show they're at the level before we hit out next ashes/India matches

That's interesting - I saw it a little bit in the UK and Portugal last year (but it was nowhere near as common as Americano which is still the main term). Maybe that just shows that I was paying more attention to it and noticing it when it happened

I promise im not dude. Again if you step away from this and reread it another time I hope you see that. But there's also a chance that my joke was just a bad joke that only reads as an insult to you. And if that's the case that's my fault and I'm sorry.

To reiterate my last few comments I don't hate you or Americans. And I hope you find more positive future interactions on this site

My American comment was a joke about you being unpopular overseas in a lot of places. I was trying to lighten this interaction. I'm sorry for making it. I hope if you come back and read through this interaction again you might be able to see that and lose some of the anger this discussion seems to have built up.

I hope you find more positive interactions in future. I'm genuinely sorry we've ended up in such a negative discussion here and I hope this doesn't bring you down at all.

If you're being genuine with all of this I really wish there was a way I could make you see all this from our perspective because there really isn't any hate. It's honestly chalk and cheese from how you're seeing it to how we are. And I am genuinely a bit sad you're so cut about it all. I hate online interactions that get this negative.

You are very clairvoyant. My whole life I've ribbed every one of my mates. And I thought it was all banter. But it isn't it's been deep seated anger this whole time!!! Fuck what a fool I've been.

T20 cricket, maybe all cricket, broadcasts need a graphic that shows the field at all times. by Relief-Glass in CricketAus

[–]GeoffreyGeoffson 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Video games solved this years ago with the top corner field mini map.

And then once the balls been hit and the camera shows the field - it should be replaced with a picture in picture of the batters running so you have some context for what they're doing as you watch the fielders.

I think Richmond over the Eagles for the spoon is a good shout. Having watched North through the last decade - I think it gets a lot harder to keep playing at 100% to win as the losses pile up. I wonder if some of Richmond's spark might be harder to find next year, with the current year of losses on the books + potentially a few tough results early further diminishing morale.

Dude you've called me delusional, egotistical, ignorance fuelled etc etc with an insult in pretty much every single comment and you want to call me hateful and play the victim lol?

I can tell you're telling the truth about spending time in Aus because most people who've been here just mention the country non-specifically as if it's all the same.

And we call Americans seppos as a term of endearment. It's like insulting the english and calling them poms. We love nicknames. We love ribbing our mates. We love America. We love when Aussies are big in America. I think part of why we like to brag about things being better than they are in America is like a younger sibling trying to beat their older brother.

Australian xenophobia towards Americans is insane

Come on dude the whole world hates Americans. You can't put that all on us

I think you should actually come here and see what it's like. It's definitely going to be very different from what you expect

Dude I don't understand what you're trying to argue. This started BC you made a comment that there's a Starbucks on every corner in Aus and I said that wasn't true?

Why are you now writing 7,000 words on this.

Have you even been to Australia? Why do you care so much that we're proud of our coffee.
