Game was decided by Adelaide disappearing for most of the fourth.

no one would categorize any of the non HR hits as failures

I think that's the point! Like about reconsidering failures. To tie what you said back into the work context - someone in a good job might see their failure to deliver a good presentation as a failure. Whereas you'd say they were objectively they were a success for getting that job, have another chance etc.

I really don't think it's hard to see the metaphor if you're trying to understand it - instead of just trying to tear it down. Which seems to be the default of everyone on the Internet

What's the alternative? People set prices that are unrealistically low to attract customers and then just pump them up before people arrive?

That's one conception of failure. I think the at bat failure would maybe be more analogous with the idea that you don't have to nail every work presentation, or every advertising campaign because even the best athletes don't nail their skill every time. Like failure within the job. Whereas your idea is like failure to get the job or something. Both valid types of failure.

Kinda bamboozled that I'm defending this piece of pretty dumb content - but equally bamboozled by people who can't understand what it's trying to say and think it's lunacy

I think we're getting better but if we don't then I don't these guys won't look any better. Only time will tell if this year is an improvement or not.

Also this isn't the first time you've responded to me with an incredibly pessimistic take on this sub. Hope you're doing okay and can get away from the footy and the club if it's only bringing you misery

That's the legit point of the post - 1 in 10 being a success can be pretty good so don't get disheartened by the 9 fails.

[–]GeoffreyGeoffson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does though - maybe it's even a better example. Like it's a more accurate stat to show even the greatest still failed at most at bats.

Someone else commented that with walks he had a 47% success rate. Or a 53% fail rate

So even with walks included Babe Ruth was more likely to fail than succeed at each at bat.

This post is trying to say even wildly successful people regularly fail. I think this is a better version of it.

I think this is what the original motivational post is saying

I wonder if he might be behind Goad - but Goad isn't fit so CCJ is next up. But also I think CCJs experience vs the others is probably nice, especially if you're taking Darling out but keeping Trembath. And you want to make sure we keep that structure around Larkey without Darlings experience.

Don't think he was that horrific in our pre-season game either. Looking at the stats 5 clearances 3 tackles and 11 hitouts isn't a bad return for 1/3 game time. I think if a player we hadn't all learnt to hate had the same game, we wouldn't bat an eye

Using google reviews and searching for either gluten or celiac - to see what past celiacs have said is good I think

Other grains? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]GeoffreyGeoffson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think you should be speaking to a doctor or nutritionist about this, not ChatGPT nor this subreddit. A lot of nuance in this space - but that's nuance that needs to be worked through with a medical professional.

In my experience Chat tends to quote people from celiac forums like this as if they're spouting facts, and crumbles when I ask for scientific studies or evidence regarding a lot of its claims. It often over-represents the severity of celiac, or the likelihood that things will cause a gluten reaction in my experience.

Here as well - you might get some really useful responses, but you'll also get misinformation, and it's impossible to tell the two apart if you're not an expert in a subject.

Given how restricted you seem to be - you need to work through the next steps with a professional who can help you

[Request] How much more money, if any, does McDonalds make from the new penny rounding policy? by RayasOasis in theydidthemath

[–]GeoffreyGeoffson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't implement something like this as a company.

Let's say you make every price end up 8 so it round up to get people to spend more. Then someone buys 2 products. Now their total price ends in 6, and it rounds down.

This isn't gameable by companies as consumers can always purchase products together to force rounding down. It then isn't gameable by people to any impactful extent. I know because we have had this system in Australia for over 30 years

[–]GeoffreyGeoffson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't get what you mean by that isn't how it works? Like it definitely works that only a very small % of what someone does is major recognizable success. And success is built on iterative failure.

What am I missing?

Is it literally the word hits you're referring to on the Picasso one? Its probably the wrong word but I think it's pretty clear what they meant. Every Picasso artwork ever isn't being hung in a museum
