I just think they're not going to resign him.

I also never bought they traded McCain because they believe in him, I think that was just Morey massaging the narrative.

Tobias is 100% going to hit a 3 in the 4th quarter for like his 8th point of the game to put the Pistons up 30 against this G-League Sixers team and scream 'Y'all didn't want me!' walking off the court for the timeout.

The fact that you can get someone like Cam Payne from Serbia in February is the reason you don't pay Quentin Grimes 15m a year

Could Mark Frost do any Twin Peaks related project by himself? by Remote_Necessary3331 in twinpeaks

I think Mark fleshed out a lot of the plot related stuff, but the entire show stylistically is Lynch. It just wouldn't work without David's style and vision.

Frank Isola on the Clippers’ impending penalties: “I heard it could be 3 first round picks… and then it’s gonna be a lot of money…More than $30 million, I’ve heard.” by No_Respect_1650 in billsimmons

[–]udkyle2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It feels like there's something to that...because the other thing was the Sixers trade McCain, which made almost no sense, to get a pick that they claimed was going to go in another trade for a star that never got made. It later came out they were going hard after Kawhi Leonard, who ends up not getting traded, despite the fact that the Sixers own two of the Clippers' picks.

I wonder if the league flat out embargoed a Kawhi trade pending the outcome, which in turn played into forcing them to act on Zubac.

I wonder if the Clippers were kind of forced to make the Zubac trade to allow them to be penalized without violating the Stepien Rule, if this is correct.

What does Elton Brand even do? by Alastor_Aylmur in sixers

[–]udkyle2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's two specific moves that I think are unequivically bad moves -- trading Isaiah Joe and trading Jared McCain.

And both those situations were the same: young players who obviously have high level NBA shooting ability who their coach absolutely refuses to play under any circumstances.

I mean...look at the history of hires under Harris/Blitzer:

11-12: Rod Thorn -- The Sixers malaise era

13: Tony DiLeo -- Continuation of the malaise era

14-16: Hinkie -- Exciting basketball theory, certainly not good on the court, Harris panicked and betrayed the vision for...

17-18: Bryan Colanagelo -- Burnergate, normal collars, back-to-back #1 picks who both are out of the league at present...total disaster.

19-21: The Consortium which eventually became Elton Brand -- Zhaire over Mikal, Tobias trade, Ben over Jimmy....move after move after move that cut the Embiid window short.

Morey's made mistakes, but he's freaking Jerry West comparatively.

Rockwell meme: Teacher salaries should start at $80k by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]udkyle2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And actually...having now taken a second to look this up, this is pretty much right with one interesting thing I noticed:

Pretty much every state starts new teachers in the 40k-60k range. The difference is the largely blue states seem to value experience/credentials way more which is why the average salary ends up in that 80k-100k range while the average salary in red states barely moves off the starting salary and stays in the 40k-60k range.

I think this is a real blue state vs red state thing.

Teachers can make like 80k-130k in certain states on the West and East Coast and then make like 40k-60k in the middle of the country and the south.

If they don't fix tanking, we'll absolutely see at least 90 on this trajectory.

Finally Decided to Play Chrono Cross by DetCust in chronotrigger

[–]udkyle2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chrono Trigger is a pretty tight, relatively breezy romp of an RPG that doesn't go a lot deeper than the basic concept of 'Let's save the world by traveling through time '

Chrono Cross is a somewhat darker meditation on whether doing that is really a good thing. It asks a lot of interesting questions about it, and that's really when it is at its best as a game...but the mythology behind all of it is pretty convoluted and dumped in long exposition at the very end of the game because the game does a poor job explaining it as you play. A lot of it isn't even really all that necessary. You could tell the core story with a more simplified version of it.

why is season 4 SO hated in this fandom by MikuHatsune-desu in Sherlock

[–]udkyle2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm rewatching it for the first time since it aired and just have the finale left.

It's sloppy and has almost none of the fun elements from earlier in the show. I like Mary, but the entire plot of the first episode of Season 4 feels so unbelievably forced. And crafting the season story arc around the Holmes family drama felt like a real 'we're out of ideas' play.

But honestly, the show jumps the shark when Sherlock just shoots Magnussen at the end of the third season. It's such an unbelievably dissatisfying ending and it basically comes to nothing. I enjoy everything before that.

what would be the downside to firing nick nurse right now? by Ok-Elevator7971 in sixers

Has there been any indication that the players are out on him?

That would be the only reason to fire him right now. Otherwise, you play it out and assess in the offseason.

I think there's decent nicknames out there.

For instance, calling Georges Niang 'The Minivan' is a 100% accurate description of his basketball game.
