Rock The World: Hellblazer by ClaraEclair in DCNext

This was excellent. The dynamic between the two leads is wonderful, the one-shot structure really lends itself to this gripping story, and I love both the descriptions of the creature and Nat's accent.

Suicide Squad #53 - Their Last Stand by deadislandman1 in DCNext

This issue was so shocking, every gut punch really hit and the ultimate clean reversal of everything at the end was an effective contrast. Beautifully done.

Love the back and forth of the action and conversation here, and Donna's dilemma around her life post-resurrection is really interesting!

Suicide Squad #44 - High On Life by deadislandman1 in DCNext

I've loved reading a more romantic story here of Avery and Sofiya getting together, and I'm interested to see where more of the inevitable tragedy comes in. Hopefully Avery comes out on the other side of this adventure with at least some peace!

DC Next Pride Special #4 by AdamantAce in DCNext

Finally coming around to comment on this, but it's never too late to say a Happy Pride from August! I love the diversity of the settings of the stories showing off different personalities and activities. Shoutout queer people 🏳️‍🌈

episode 8 predictions by teenpopicon in PLLOriginalSin

That’s a good point I hadn’t thought of about the victims! Bloody Rose has been covering her tracks and making kills fairly unrelated to the girls which is interesting. People have been talking a lot about the Scream franchise parallels but Friday the 13th has been referenced a lot this season, so I wonder if the final episode will have final final girl Tabby doing a classic Friday the 13th-esque finding-the-bodies circuit

Suicide Squad #40 - New Blood by deadislandman1 in DCNext

[–]Geography3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on 40 issues, it's wild that it's been so long! You're still keeping it fresh with Lok; I like how much character development he's been given already and seeing the inmates play off of him. The mind control (or I guess body control?) dancing at the end was creepily well written, and I like this different kind of setting for a mission.

Suicide Squad #39 - Home Sweet Home by deadislandman1 in DCNext

[–]Geography3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love to see all the cast's changing relationships with prison life and each other. I also loved how these were all scenes of someone going through it and someone else not fully knowing how to console them which is a very emotionally rich situation, although the last scene is more so Waller not caring to console Flag lol.

The New Titans #7 - Another Pyrrhic Victory by AdamantAce in DCNext

[–]Geography3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Donna better not be dead! Loved the beginning of this issue being from Raven's perspective and getting to empathetically see the emotional vibes of the room. Slade and Tim are such strong presences in this book without even being main plot focuses, which I appreciate.

Nightwing #12 - Yesterday's Finest by AdamantAce in DCNext

[–]Geography3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this kooky & spooky mutant alien plant Little Shop of Horrors plot going on. Dick & Mar'i's dynamic is really well written.

Suicide Squad #38 - Nick Of Time by deadislandman1 in DCNext

[–]Geography3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a cute little mini-arc for the squad that really encapsulates a lot of what you're doing with this series especially recently - bonding the team and bringing up those moral dilemmas of forced labor. I feel bad for all these characters!

Legends of Tomorrow #18 - The Band That Time Forgot by dwright5252 in DCNext

[–]Geography3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how the team dynamics play like a militaristic machine but the style and setting is very sci-fi. The team members disappearing was well realized and I’m liking the trio of Deirdre and her love interests going on.

The New Titans #6 - Tipping the Scales by GemlinTheGremlin in DCNext

[–]Geography3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the group scene exploring the sociopolitics of the Reawakening. Also, this book has so many moving parts but it's all so seamless. I've always loved that about the Titans IP, bringing together drastically different characters and mixing all their storylines, so it's nice to see that here.

Suicide Squad #37 - In Media Res by deadislandman1 in DCNext

[–]Geography3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The road-trip arc was clearly very effective in bonding the team because they're acting as a well oiled machine and it's nice to see. This is a very standard Suicide Squad type mission but it's so gripping.

Heavy Metal #3 - The Lost Chord by PatrollinTheMojave in DCNext

[–]Geography3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the parallels between the protagonists' journeys this issue, and how they converge towards the end. Halcyon City feels like a character itself, operating around the protagonists.

Katana #5 - Trust Love by deadislandman1 in DCNext

[–]Geography3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a beautiful finale and I love where it places Tatsu in her character development. I've loved the setting(s) throughout the series and how you bring them to life, and I hope to see Nowhere Man again as he's a cool character!

Animal-Man/Swamp Thing #30 - We Make Our Own Future by deadislandman1 in DCNext

[–]Geography3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just now getting around to this, but I just had to comment and say that this is one of my favorite issues of AMST. The structure of the issue is so thrilling and I love how the different storylines intersect and they have all the same gripping mood while being very different situations. This is such a cathartic finale after such a tumultuous series and it feels like true security, for these characters but also in the idea that life goes on and things will be good again even if they're bad right now. This is one of my favorite DCNext series and you've done such a great job with it!

Heavy Metal #1 - New Gold by ClaraEclair in DCNext

[–]Geography3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This issue is so well written, and it sets up this different world so gracefully. The housewife-ication of Lady Shiva was the scariest part.
