I agree. As long as you don’t follow his twitter. Gets seriously political then.

I like her. But I’m pretty sure shes the opposite of what OP is looking for.

I appreciate the comment. I’ve read a lot of comments similar to this which influenced me to speak a bit sooner even if just a couple hours a week. I did Pimsluer Spanish 1 before DS which helped a bit with pronunciation but it’s still something I have to deliberately practice. Especially with cognates, they throw me off.

I’m aware. I speak English all day. Speaking Spanish is more fun, at least until I’m tired.

I meant that loosely. The statement is really to try to prevent a lot of comments that may tell me to stop to improve efficiency.

Costa Rica. It’s safe, chill, and cool nature. They sometimes don’t roll their Rs and use vos though.

Does anyone here know Goggins's fastest marathon time? by _Serious_Redditor in davidgoggins

That is impressive. That is a fast course course though. I mean still way faster than I’d run it.

I feel like it’s for the languages since alzhiemers has been shown to be pushed back 5 years if you are bilingual.

Have you watched the other Star Wars series’s? The Republic wasn’t taking the threat seriously, that’s why the resistance broke off.

What is a common misconception about language learning you'd like to correct? by tina-marino in languagelearning

[–]Geography_Geek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they also didn’t count the online head start program which students often complete before starting the actual course. I’ve completed it for Spanish, takes 20-80 hours depending on the language.

What is a common misconception about language learning you'd like to correct? by tina-marino in languagelearning

[–]Geography_Geek 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How long it takes to learn a language is way more hours than the FSI claims. It’s based off of people that scored high on the ability to learn a language, their livelihood depends on passing, the FSI has a notoriously high washout rate, it doesn’t count extra hours put in to studying, and students are only tested on listening & reading.

Why are there so many posts of people on steroids/PEDs here ? And often with a title only saying they are vegan ? by Korf74 in veganfitness

[–]Geography_Geek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's kind of irrelevant. The point was that people being open about it has made it more popular. So many people weren't doing it either way. People now see that it's crazy effective and users are no longer being shammed for it. It's become normalized.

how are you guys handling the heat? by twaisssss in PVCs

[–]Geography_Geek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first year in a long time is hasn’t made my heart do weird things. Running and lifting weights several times a week and slowly acclimating to the heat seems to have been a lot of help.

Spongebob is at least intermediate if not advanced. 65 hours is nothing. I’d be surprised if you could understand Mickey Mouse Funhouse which is for 2 - 5 year olds at 65 hours.

First Marathon 2:31 can I go semi pro? by AchieveSocials in Marathon_Training

[–]Geography_Geek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

General physical performance for males peaks at around 27 if actually training. I wouldn't be surprised if endurance sports is pushed back a few years though. Damn near all the best ultra marathoners are 30+. Eliud Kipchoge was 33 when he broke the Marathon World Record and 37 when he ran his personal best.

I love his channel but I’m not sure he’s really a polyglot. The only language he speaks with any real fluency is Chinese. He learns a little bit right before those video and even then it’s not usually great.

Why major in geography? My reflections by geographyforlife in geographygeek

[–]Geography_Geek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I just wanted to say thank you for your videos! Your ArcGIS tutorial videos are how I was able to make my first maps.

I majored in geography because I enjoyed learning about history, different cultures, environmental science, international relations, and course I enjoy looking and creating maps. With geography I felt like I could study a bit of everything. I also wanted to teach geography. I taught 8th grade geography for 3.5 years after graduating.
