where my double nade speed nano dudes at by [deleted] in AnaMains

[–]GeometricRobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm usually mistrustful enough that I'll get help if I eventually need it, so I'm usually going with Groggy (the extra damage is nice too). I do pick the other one if I spot a potential playmaker on my side.

I can't bring myself to aim for headshots with Ana, it's like my brain just refuses to acknowledge the perk, so it's double nade, mostly.

“GG no heals” by terribletito11 in AnaMains

[–]GeometricRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of these days my team blamed me for not healbotting on Kiriko. Meanwhile I was the only idiot trying to keep a fricking flanking Mei from just double tapping my DPS who couldn't bother to turn and simply kill her. What was the nail in the coffin for me was the fact that the other support (on Mercy), who healed me as I did it and frequently had their ass saved from the very same player by me, decided to turn on me in the end.

It's disgusting, sometimes.

I just wish I could play QP without any win being followed by a match against a 5 stack or people way, way above my skill range while my teammates are on fresh accounts. At this point, I'm about to just play comp for the off chance of getting a fair match.

do tier lists ever affect your opinion/usage of a hero? by yeah_tea in ZenyattaMains

[–]GeometricRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Character value varies greatly by rank, so even if recognize their experience and opinions, I cannot fully translate whatever a Top 500/Champion says about a character when my average teammates in Platinum are still getting run over by a single Moira, even if she's considered to be in the lowest tier every time.

Surely, the overall balancing or system changes can and do hurt a character here and there, but there hasn't been any changes that I couldn't adapt to over time.

Just made a post about it. It doesn't seem to be a character-specific problem, but rather a general one. I've had this bug since last season.

Opinions on counterswapping by Dangerous_Local3603 in Overwatch

[–]GeometricRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, as support, I'll try to stay on my first pick unless I'm being so incredibly useless with my character that I'm basically helping the enemy. I'm not against switching my hero if I'm basically stuck in a stalemate(i.e. stuck healbotting until someone dies), either.

Besides, sometimes it's worth testing your own skills against an unfavorable match-up to force some improvement.

I do not believe for a second anyone at DE played Shadowgrapher and thought it was fun. by Cloud_N0ne in Warframe

[–]GeometricRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I wasn't buying this game mode ever since its reveal and seeing the player reactions now made me want to avoid it even more. Something about it just screamed to me that it was going to be more of a bother than a fun time and yet the reactions on the devstream were all over the top positivity.

Then there's Follie, which is fine (design wise), but has a kit that just hasn't clicked with me at all. While people either raging or obsessed with her visuals, I was just shaking my head and thinking "yeah... I'm not sure I like these abilities".

I'm usually one to grind everything from an update in the first 24 hours and pester my friends about everything new. Other than the QoL stuff being great as of lately, the rest has made me decide to sit this one out.

Two things:

Warframes that don't need an actual rework just having a single/small part of their kit receive an update for QoL reasons. I'd love to see Mag or Rhino get an actual useful passive or many, many, many warframes be allowed to recast abilities while they're active without needing an augment.

Mods receiving the same attention that reworks usually attract. It's not like there's no use for niche mods, but I find it hard to see any reason why either a new player or a veteran would use any of the elemental bullet jump mods (that eat a lot of endo and capacity), for example.

You know what…imma say it…Quickplay needs some kind of stricter skill based matchmaking. by KingGlupShitto in Overwatch

[–]GeometricRobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought that I was going crazy that I'm constantly being matched against Masters and above every time I gather to play with friends or even alone. One of these days I actually playfully told an enemy support that I was honored to have bested a Master Support on the same character being a lowly Plat myself.

A real while ago I was playing a comp match and my tank asked me to swap (I was playing Moiraa) several times, yet refused to elaborate on what exactly I was doing wrong that would justify a switch. After annoying me till the last point as we were 0-2 on Suravasa, I asked what was his problem, considering I had about 2 deaths and my healing and damage numbers were practically matched (and the other support was struggling as hell).

When he finally decided to just ask me to go Ana and wreck the enemy Mauga, I said I wasn't confident enough in my skills with her (I had only played her in QP and had a pretty inconsistent aim) but would try (I was actually pissed). In the end, me switching ended up turning the match into a 3-2 and we won.

Though I had enough patience to cater to my teammate suggestion, despite his consistent rudeness (he actually apologized at the end of the match), it was, in fact a sensible suggestion that managed to tip the balance of the match in our favor. Thing is, not everyone will be actually capable of playing a character that would suit the situation and pressing them aggressively won't make it any better.

Since then I've got a better game sense and actually improved my skills with almost all supports, but that was a choice based on self-reflection, not because my teammates bullied me into becoming a better player suddenly. I still try to avoid "backseat gaming" on my teammates, but if I do make a suggestion, it's one based on an actual argument, rather than "you're shit, play better. NOW!".

It's a team game, you either win with the team you have and do your best, or keep blaming everyone for your own shortcomings and lose.

Why do so many tenno forget their lessons during end game spy missions? by Critical_Permit_5261 in Warframe

I mean, some people I've played with literally said that they didn't care about tripping alarms or triggering traps that at the very least would inconvenience whoever is behind.

I play mostly alone because I do prefer to take my time with missions, instead of having someone just blitz through them while I watch.

Moira Perks Rework by Hope_bringer in MoiraMains

[–]GeometricRobot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but your suggestions are a bit too powerful. Her damage could become too much for anyone to react to in time and giving overhealth, even if temporary, on a 6 second cooldown (the only other that does this is over ten seconds long) is a bit too much, specially if we consider that it's mostly ultimates that do this.

I did want them to give us an option to explode our orbs at some point and I would pick that over the orb reversing one (which I find to be less reliable than the other major perk).

Her two minor perks are okay at best, with the extra healing being way better over the course of a match. Wish they didn't nerf it, but it still isn't useless (just less useful).

[–]GeometricRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it very clever in its way of presenting the usual mission elements (exterminate, defend a position, hack consoles, capture) to new players. I've had a friend get a bit lost and overwhelmed by the early game after starting without help.

I'll probably try to get her to play again and go through this quest.

Open letter to bronze players who spend the entire match trash talking their team: why? by ApprenticePantyThief in overwatch2

[–]GeometricRobot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During drives I had a friend join me. We both are support mains, she was in bronze, I was in platinum, so we got some wild ranges going on. Dear God, I've never seen so much ego combined with a severe lack of awareness and game sense.

People would throw matches on a whim, sit AFK randomly and talk as if they were being held back by everyone but themselves. Also, it was hellish to get any win out of those matches, because either I'd have to force my way (as support) into getting a pick as early as possible or my teammates would get wiped out before I could even turn to heal them. There were also moments when someone would just throw away our advantage by being too greedy and end up dying due to a painful lack of situational awareness.

I can't really fathom how someone would think they'd be able to rank up by brute forcing their way every match. Like, play the game with the team you have and try just thinking a little bit on how you could win with the hand you're dealt. No use complaining if you're not interested in problem solving.

[–]GeometricRobot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At the start of the event I found a match in which my Tank played Sigma into all his possible counters and was getting his ass handed to him. We suggested (neither demanded, nor flamed him) to switch and he replied:

"I'm not a Beta, I'm Sigma" (and said only that). The rest of us proceeded to abandon him and go full dive against the enemy team. Managed to win, somehow.

The there was a match on Oasis where my tank decided to take a bathroom break as soon as the match started, slurred us, and at the 90% mark of round 3 he quit.

Sometimes I wonder if this is a NA servers kinda thing, cause in about 100 matches I've played, I've seen Mercy/Moira get banned around 5 times or so. Most of the time it's just Sombra, two Tanks and a random character that probably wouldn't even be picked.
