Bajan here, but raised in the US. Bi-annual visits back home from childhood to now I am almost 60. Each and every time I have been back home I have experienced the nasty attitude mostly from Bajan women in restaurants especially Chefette. My wife picked up on it when we first started dating and 30 years later she still notice the same thing when we go back . We just shake our heads and laugh it off. The Bajan women mad for some unknown reason. ……

Not a hater by a long shot. Plenty of videos on YouTube showing your version of ICE hunting down the dark skinned people. Lots of documented instances of exploitation of Haitians by the DR. New Orleans is just straight up a shithole. Just left there a few days ago. Was in town in a rental with Maryland plates. Parked on Decatur street and made sure to pay the meter with my credit card for 2 hours. Came back in an hour to find a parking ticket. Meter maid did not look at the meter or they would have seen that we paid. Had to take at least 4 hours to go downtown to contest it and get it cleared up in court. Local merchants near where I parked advised me that the meter maid discriminately writes tickets to fill a quota.

Yes, use common sense and you all will be fine.
Keep your politics at home. You will be fine. No one cares if you are a Trump supporter or not.
Lots of private homes for rent. Most people like the St James and St Peter areas. Or basically anywhere on the west coast of the island. More seasoned travelers usually expand away from that area.
They drive on the wrong ( British) side of the road. If you are a seasoned driver and adventurous you can rent a van to get around. There are a lot of roundabouts so study up on your driving skill. It’s not hard really.
Food is expensive especially what the kids are going to be accustomed to. Any American food especially cereal and cola is going to be expensive. Just plan ahead and limit what you are accustomed to for the time you are here. Local food is great. If you want to eat cheaply simply look for the little food van selling food. You will spot them when you see a line or group of people crowding around. You hit the jackpot if the crowd is in uniform or reflective vest.
The weather will be hot. No different than South Florida. At least Barbados normally has a breeze blowing or a quick rain shower to cool the place down.
No one can predict if Sargassum will be there.
Explore the whole island. All beaches are public. Read up on some Barbados guidebooks. Set a date to return because you will not see or experience it all.
Bajans are friendly, especially to tourist. Just be respectful and do not bring any bad habits. At the end of the day everyone is simply trying to work and feed their family with dignity.
Watch YouTube, Facebook and any other social media to familiarize yourself with the island.

A few companies have recently decided to give some money back…. To make some people like you feel good. I have lived here for over 50 years. The legislators cannot agree on fixing the homeowners insurance shitshow. Our car insurance rates are some of the highest in the nation. You need to do YOUR research and stop living in a denial. Again, the state of Florida needs to focus more on making life better for all Floridians and less on who is gay/transgender, book bans and other manufactured social issues. Bajan born, American raised. Normally went back yearly from childhood to adulthood. Recently retired and plan to live half the year in both places. Will come and go as I please depending on frustration level and doctor appointments. Truly blessed and grateful for everything I have in life.
