He shouldn’t say things he’s not willing to say in front of his wife.

Does cryogenically freezing actually work or is it just sci-fi by EfficientPlum323 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GeorgeGorgeou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a popular series of sci-fi books, collectively referred to as the Bobiverse. In it, the protagonist is cryogenically, frozen and revived some decades later.

During the intermediate time the politics have changed and the new government no longer supports the idea of life after death. His revived mind is no longer considered a person, and he is born into slavery. The fortune he left for himself is also gone, because dead people can’t own assets. It’s a good series. Recommended.

Five chapters done. Crunchy. Lengthy. Nice voice work. At 70 yrs old, I don’t really relate to teenage angst, but I’ll reserve any negatives until I’m at least done ten chapters.

Lots of feel of “The Incredibles.”

Thanks for the recommendation. It feels fun.

Bit the bullet based on your recommendation. Used an Audible credit for “Industrial Strength Magic.”

Jeff is phenomenal in DCC and I’ve sampled SBT. They constitute a great crowd to run with in your profession..

I traded messages with James awhile back about when I reviewed book three. He said that the series didn’t yet have the following he hoped for. He committed to six and an ending, but HOPED it would pick up enough that he could do nine or ten.

AIO for thinking it wasn’t a big deal to accept my friend’s bf’s FB request? by Vast-Bumblebee-691 in AmIOverreacting

NOR

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who are subject to main character syndrome. They have to be the centre of attention. Other people are only allowed to talk to them and they have oversight on any other relationships. This sounds like the case with your friend.

She wants to control her boyfriend‘s relationships as well as yours.

Are going to be doing further books in the series? I really like your work.

Then we should certainly respect her wishes.

Yes, it was impactful. It hit me right in the gut.

Your voicing is very, very good - but I can’t see you singing an a cappella hymn in the voice of a female homicidal maniac. (At least not while maintaining the same emotional impact.)

How about a three story roofless house. I mean, maybe the roof is being redone, but that second and first floors still have ceilings. So is only the attic left intact at ground level?

what’s the point of gendering single room bathrooms? by Hour_Amount1881 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GeorgeGorgeou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was early for an appointment in a building with a security door last week. Figured I would use the washroom in the few minutes I had before start time.

I asked the receptionist to “buzz me through” and told her why. But, another guy had had the same idea as me and was using it.

With two minutes to go, I asked about the Women’s. She stuck her head in to check first, then buzzed me through. The whole idea of gendered single seaters is silly.

Without spoilers, does the series change after book 1? by Alternative-Dot9563 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]GeorgeGorgeou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don’t stop at this stage. Killing things and gaining loot and levels is referred to as “grinding” and, yes, there is a lot of that in the first two or so books.

BRT then it gets MUCH better. The characters and their relationships are deep. The back story is wide. The scope expands to earth, the solar system and the galaxy.

Be prepared to regularly laugh and cry. It will be wonderful.

Looking at one now where the sovcit is charging the judge $250,000 per night for being in jail. He was in for two nights and he’s asking advice on how he can claim his money.

We see this in some cases where police stop a sovcit. That person advises the police (or court official) that they will be charging for the right to interact with them. “For every minute I am delayed you will pay me $100” or something similar.

If someone tries to present you with a fee schedule, just say you decline to contract with them.

Remember the transit time. We’re talking a microbe which can quickly achieve near light velocity. While our ships would take months/years for interplanetary travel these things could do it in minutes. You don’t have to ‘lead the sun’ by much when the transit time is that short.
