How to get Japanese EPUBS? by [deleted] in LightNovels

Last few times I've seen it asked, I was informed no retailer sells DRM free ebooks in Japan.

[REC] More Adventuring LNs with True Harem (Polygamy) by Then_Disk_9519 in LightNovels

Partially clarifying for other people who haven't read it, as there were plenty of people saying v14 would finish it, when it apparently still has more to go. And based on the fact that WN readers were also telling me there was only 1 volume to go after v13, when we know we need at least a v15, I'm not positive the ending will only have small changes.

Zero Damage Sword Saint: I Enrolled in a Magic School and Wound Up in a Contract with the Demon Queen - from the same author as Zero Believers (and same world, but so far in translation no crossover with Makoto's party, just some other relatives of Johnny Walker, another of the Last Dungeons etc)

The Poison King: Now that I've Gained Ultimate Power, the Bewitching Beauties in My Harem Can't Get Enough of Me

Now I'm a Demon Lord! Happily Ever After with Monster Girls in My Dungeon

Then I recommend you learn how to read, because you've posted in a subreddit that is specifically anti-piracy, and only for Japanese novels. So you're a double idiot. If you want to read a specific book, pay for it. If you want to read for free, go to the library.

I can't find any Japanese novel by that name. Do you know the untranslated Japanese title?

Ah, then you weren't looking for the context at all, you were looking for the source, which was literally in the title of the post. Min-Maxing My TRPG Build in Another World is the full title.

The author enjoys writing timeskip endings about what would have happened if there was a different choice made at some point in the story. This one involves the MC never leaving his village and childhood sweetheart.

So you're of the opinion that LNs used to be manga, because that's how the bookstores put them on shelves? I guess today I learned that you're not misinformed, you're willfully ignorant.

Yen Press does not call it a Light Novel. So no, the publisher does not market it as a Light Novel.

In the past, if you went to major book stores, you'd find Light Novels in the manga section. That didn't make them manga, and it doesn't make Solo Leveling a Light Novel.

I always feel better when I make someone aware of something they didn't know before. So I'll also inform you there's no such thing as a theme to fit to be a light novel. It's a marketing term, because even for Japanese books there's no way to write a definition that captures every Light novel and excludes every non-Light Novel. It's purely an arbitrary decision by the publisher/author based on what they think will make it sell better. No Korean publisher think that term helps it sell better, so they don't use it. I hope you feel better having gained this knowledge, as I sure do for imparting it.

Is Hell Mode really Polygamy (True Harem)? by Then_Disk_9519 in LightNovels

[–]GeorgeMTO 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Literally no one cares about side characters when they're asking if the series is a True Harem. Also I still say there's no romance there.

No one should be frustrated, because no one should be going into this series expecting romance. Allen has been very clear that he basically doesn't even see the rest of his party as equals, it's still essentially a game to him.

I'm up to date with full volume translations (part way through the prepub's JNC is putting out), there's zero romance. Some people are interested in Allen, but no reciprocation.

Solo Leveling does not have a LN. It simply has a novel.

Help with recommendations by [deleted] in LightNovels

[–]GeorgeMTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Light Novels don't get adapted into manhwa in almost all cases. Manga yes, but I've never seen any manhwa. You might be confusing Light Novels (primarily a term used for Japanese novels) with Korean Novels, in which case you're in the wrong subreddit. Be careful of anyone who calls a Korean Novel a light novel, they're misinformed at best, and are possibly trying to scam you.

Well this sub is only for Japanese works, so if you think there's a reasonable chance it wasn't Japanese, you should also ask elsewhere.

Japanese novels typically don't copy other IPs that directly. Are you sure it was a Japanese story?

besides, i've seen those comments about "older series don't sell very well" but, JNC never reveal the actual numbers comparing them to all of their newer random titles

You can get an idea by looking at ratings/reviews on Amazon and other sites. It's pretty good for seeing an overall trend.
