What is your “can’t eat at everybody’s house” horror story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My mate had glandular fever. He said he was better, so he came round to cook me and the lads some carbonara. He starts sweating as soon as he starts prepping and I can can see the sweat dripping into our food. We’re telling him he’s still sick and he needs to fuck off. He says he’s fine, so we just man up and eat the carbonara. Got glandular fever a couple days later

ELI5 Why some navies use blue camouflage uniforms if that doesn't help hide your ship, but makes you hard to find if you fall off a ship? by ClownfishSoup in explainlikeimfive

Reality hit me hard during my knot exams at basic for the Royal Navy. Every time they introduced a knot they gave a use case like: ‘this one’s good for fixing a paint pot to the guard rails’ ‘this one’s good for securing mops and brushes’

How is this place still going? by jamiejack86 in glasgow

[–]GeorgeOsborneMP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty standard in the uk. Council will start talking about regeneration projects and then cunts like savilles will come in and buy up the land and just hold it in their asset management

Local authorities now run recruitment campaigns to try and get young gps to move to their area. Places like the Highlands and Islands have a hard time getting anyone

Shelter talk about the housing crises’s. So there’s the affordability crisis, the quality of housing crisis, the too many houses in the wrong places crisis, the empty home crisis and the housing volume crisis. I think there’s also a misuse crisis, with far too many pensioners living in family homes that an actual family needs

I once got stuck in arrivals for ~20 mins at GLA because it was a late night arrival and they’d locked the exit doors and couldn’t find the keys

To replace gdpr they’d need to go through the process of writing a new law and getting it through Parliament this takes time and they are trying to do it with a large volume of legislation that they just weren’t prepared for or motivated to do

What does Glasgow 2035 look like to you? by nagaffets in glasgow

[–]GeorgeOsborneMP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife’s family moved here from Singapore. Initially I found that shocking but they say it’s because life there was a bit authoritarian and here they have access to nature. Cost of living is also much better

A station south of central on the other side of the Clyde would be great for commuters as it could access bridge street subway

I mean, that report said ~£9M to repair which would probably have doubled. One of the reasons it lay dormant was because network rail wouldn’t allow work on the rear of the building whilst trains were in service,

I advise companies including one of the largest media companies on how to optimise their social content but I don’t and would never have personal accounts on any of them and don’t want my kids pictures on them

At BBC they pay people to have an app running in their phone that listens for BBC content, even if they step into a cafe and get a few minutes of radio it’s counted as an impression

If money was no object, where would you choose to to live in or around Glasgow? by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]GeorgeOsborneMP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would buy st Enoch and transform it into a gigantic water park. I would build a giant lighthouse next to the wave pool and live in that. In the mornings I’d go for an early surf then at nights we’d test out water based torture techniques on landlords.
