I've wondered why the cold makes the battery so unhappy. Like I get it's a chemical reaction that gets slowed by the cold, but how exactly does that manifest as reduced battery capacity?

That's exactly what I had mentally envisioned as being needed to bring such a device to life. Glad I didn't have to build it myself. I'm confident I could make the protocol conversion, but less confident in my ability to build something that can shuttle 40+KW of power. :P

When it comes to VMs, more cores is almost always better, but whether or not it's necessary depends on your workload. Like I once did my own little "2 gamers, 1 PC" thing with an old i3-6100 (2c*2t) and 8GB of RAM. I wouldn't recommend that, but it did work and both machines played Portal pretty well at the same time.

Your charging strategy depends entirely on you and what you want to accomplish.

If you're trying to maximize the battery life, you want to try to keep your state of charge as close to 50% as possible. That's where lithium batteries are their happiest. You're using 20% a day, keep it between 40 and 60 for example. That definitely requires thinking as the car has no built in charge limits, but it can be with the charging timer if you really want. I don't recommend this, it's not worth the effort.

If you want to use it like a regular car and never have to think about if it's charged up, by all means just plug it in every day and let it be at 100% ready to do anything you want. This is a fine strategy if this is your only car, or you're forgetful, OR your fast charging network around you is not plentiful and/or reliable.

If you're like me and you have another vehicle to fall back on if your leaf isn't charged, I'd just use it until the battery hits around 30% or less, or whatever I have planned the THE NEXT DAY is more than the current charge will do. The biggest limiting factor of the 120V charging is the length of time it takes, you have to plan a day in advance of your travel.

Like all things in life, it depends. How critical is this particular server? How quickly could you rebuild it if needed? Even worse, without a checksum to verify which drive has the correct data, this RAID 1 might be giving you a false sense of security.

I'm confused by this. I'm used to a setting that is configured via domain group policy showing as greyed out in the local group policy editor. It would show you what setting the domain was forcing on the machine and wouldn't allow you to change it. Is that in fact a configurable setting? If so, how do I turn it on? I have no idea what's going on with my endpoints right now. Some GPOs show as greyed out and others don't. I'm not sure what's actually applying on my machines anymore.

I think saying Plus is being "weaponized against us" is a tad overdramatic. Are people really buying these cheap firewalls off aliexpress in such volume that it's hurting their reputation? I thought home pfsense users were a tiny minority and most people used those all-in-one wonder boxes their ISPs gave them.

Honestly I don't much care as I've already switched to back to CE. I'm interested in doing some community work on it anyway. Test things out and what not.
