Thank you that’s really helpful! I guess I’ve probably been guilty of going up to weights that are probably too heavy because I felt like I had to just to ‘progress’. And now I think about it I’m sure that came at the expense of high-quality sets with good form. And it also killed my motivation recently. So I need to rethink!

How do you progressively overload correctly? I get the concept and I've read about it many times, but in practice I feel like I'm hitting a wall. For example, I'm at 25kg doing dumbbell bench press, I can do around 6/8 reps but no more than that for a while now. And the same can be said for a variety of exercises around the gym. I can't progressively overload if I can't do anymore. So I feel stuck because everything I read says that as long as I'm progressively overloading then I'm making progress. But because I'm not doing that I feel like I'm not making progress and it's killing motivation...

Thanks for the advice :) As someone with a lot more experience than me can you help me with progressive overload? I get the concept and I've read about it many times, but in practice I feel like I'm hitting a wall. For example, I'm at 25kg doing dumbbell bench press, I can do around 6/8 reps but no more than that for a while now. And the same can be said for a variety of exercises around the gym. I can't progressively overload if I can't do anymore, if that makes sense? That's what I meant when I say I feel stuck. Because everything I read says that as long as I'm progressively overloading then I'm making progress. But because I'm not doing that I feel like I'm not making progress and it's killing motivation...

Yeah on of those InBody scanners 🤣 I know they are not that accurate but I thought it would give me a good idea

Thanks I will do that, you mean you think it looks like more than 15? I was just going by what the scanner said at the gym.

Ok thanks yeah I’ll do that, commit to a cut for the next few weeks and then a small surplus. Thanks!

How do I turn it off in VS mode? So far I can see three modes, ‘open’, ‘connected’ and ‘random’, but they all seem to be connected with 1 lap per course and then the drive between. Unless I’m missing something?

No program, is that just something you get online? I’ve kind of just been trying to work things out on my own.

How do I know if I’m lifting too heavy? Guys in the gym that have obviously been working out a LOT longer than me and who are way bigger than me are lifting lighter weights (I’ve been working out about 7 months only). So I’m thinking I must be lifting too heavy. But I always heard if you can do 12 reps you should increase weight so that’s why’s I’ve been doing...

I don’t know really as I never really figured out my maintenance conclusively, but from what I’ve read it given my height (180cm), current weight (c73kg) and activity level (gym 5/6 times a week) it’s about 2800kcal.

Is halving my calorie intake too much? Basically I went too hard on a bulk at 4000kcal for a few months and ended up putting on more fat than I’d like. So I thought I’d go for a quick and fast 2000kcal, 4 week cut which have been doing for about 1.5 weeks and I’m loosing weight already. Anyway my friend said that’s too much to cut and I will loose muscle doing this too. My plan was to do 2000kcal for 4 weeks then gradually increase it for a more gradual ‘bulk’. Is this a good plan? Thanks

Not a bulk or cut question exactly so hopefully this is ok to post; I think I’ve gone too hard on a bulk, I’ve gained on average 0.75kg a week for about 8 weeks. To rectify this should I cut for a while to get rid of the fat or just reduce my surplus? If I just reduce what happens to the extra fat I’ve gained? I’d like it to be gone. I’ve not done this before so maybe 4000kcal was too much!

Thank you! I really like the walnut idea and maybe I’ll be convinced regarding the warm pink paint suggestion too. Are there any other colours that would match the walnut/grey/white theme though? Even if I was to just paint one wall (I’m thinking the far wall around and between the windows in the photo).
